पैरेंट्स की कुछ ऐसी आदतें होती हैं, जो वे बच्चों को सुधारने, कुछ सिखाने-पढ़ाने और नियंत्रण में रखने के उद्देश्य से करते हैं। लेकिन मनोवैज्ञानिकों का भी मानना है कि कुछ ऐसी बुरी आदतें हैं जिसका आपके बच्चे पर विपरीत प्रभाव पड़ता है और वे अच्छा इंसान बनने के बजाए बुरा इंसान बनने की ओर अग्रसर हो जाते हैं। बच्चे का अच्छा या बुरा इंसान बनना यह पूरी तरह से उनकी परवरिश पर निर्भर करता है और इस बात पर कि बतौर अभिभावक आपने कैसी भूमिका निभाई है?

1. अपने बच्चों की दूसरे बच्चों से तुलना करना

बच्चे हो या बड़े, किसी भी व्यक्ति की किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति से कभी भी तुलना नहीं की जानी चाहिए। यदि आप तुलना करते हैं, तो इसका मतलब है कि आप सामने वाले के ओरिजनल व्यक्तित्व पर ही सवाल उठा रहे हैं। तुलना का मतलब है कि आप उन्हें यह कह रहे हैं कि आप जैसे शख्स हैं, हमें वैसे पसंद नहीं हैं। उन्हें तो किसी और के जैसा होना चाहिए। क्या आपको कोई यह कहेगा, तो यह आपको पसंद आएगा? नहीं न! वैसे तुलना किए जाने पर केवल आप बच्चे या अन्य किसी को उनके स्वयं के बारे में नकारात्मक बना रहे होते हैं। इससे कोई फायदा होने वाला नहीं है। सभी की अलग-अलग खूबियां होती हैं। ऐसे में बेहतर यही है कि उनमें जो खूबी है, आप उसी में खुश रहें और वह अपनी वास्तविक पहचान बनाए रखे।

2. अपनी इच्छाएं बच्चों पर थोपना

कई पैरेंट्स अपने जीवन में जो चीजें नहीं कर पाए, उन्हें वे अपने बच्चों से करवाना चाहते हैं और उनके माध्यम से अपनी दबी ख्वाहिशें पूरी करना चाहते हैं। इसमें वे यह भूल जाते हैं कि बच्चे का अपना एक स्वतंत्र व्यक्तित्व, पसंद-नापसंद व क्षमता भी है। यदि आप उन पर अपनी इच्छाएं थोप भी देंगे, तो इससे वे उस क्षेत्र में सफल नहीं हो जाएंगे। आपका सपना तो तब भी पूरा नहीं होगा। इससे बेहतर ये होगा कि आप अपने बच्चे की दिलचस्पी वाले विषय में ही उसे आगे बढ़ने के लिए प्रेरित करें ताकि जो सपने आपके पूरे नहीं हो सके, कम से कम ऐसा आपके रहते आपके बच्चे के साथ न हो और आपके सहयोग से वह अपना सपना पूरा कर सके जिसमें उसके सफल होने की संभावना भी अधिक होगी।

3. बच्चों की आलोचना करना

कुछ पैरेंट्स जाने-अनजाने अपने बच्चों की केवल आलोचना ही करते रहते हैं। यहां तक कि वे घर आए मेहमानों, पड़ोसियों व रिश्तेदारों आदि किसी के भी सामने अपने बच्चे की गलत आदतों का पिटारा खोलकर बैठ जाते हैं। उसकी गलतियों पर उसे बाहरी लोगों के सामने डांटने लगते हैं। इन बातों का बच्चे के दिलो-दिमाग पर बुरा प्रभाव पड़ता है। ऐसा करके आप बच्चे की आदतों में तो कोई सुधार नहीं ला पाते हैं बल्कि उसके आत्मविश्वास को कम करते हैं और दूसरों की नजरों में भी उसे गिराते हैं जिससे उसे आगे भी कोई अच्छा काम करने के लिए आप खुद ही हतोत्साहित करते हैं और फिर आप सोचते हैं कि बच्चा सुधर क्यों नहीं रहा?

4. बच्चों को मारना-पीटना

पैरेंट्स को अपनी यह सोच पूरी तरह से बदल लेनी चाहिए कि बच्चा जिद कर रहा है, पढ़ाई नहीं कर रहा है या आपकी कोई बात नहीं सुन रहा है, तो मार-पीटकर आप अपनी मनमर्जी का काम उससे करवा लेंगे। यदि आप ऐसा करवा भी लेते हैं तो यह अस्थायी ही होगा। इससे वह कुछ सीखेगा नहीं और आपकी गैरमौजूदगी में फिर गलत काम ही करेगा।

याद रखें, बच्चों को स्थायी अनुशासन व सही-गलत केवल प्रेमपूर्वक समझाकर ही सिखाया जा सकता है। बच्चों को डराने-धमकाने व प्रताड़ित करने से कोई फायदा नहीं होगा, केवल नुकसान ही होगा।
