સુરત શહેરમાં બારે મેઘ ખાંગા થયા હોય તેમ સવારના ત્રણ કલાકમાં ચાર ઈંચ સુધીનો વરસાદ વરસ્યો. ઠેર ઠેર પાણી ભરાતા જનજીવન ખોરવાયું હતું. સવારે કામ ધંધે જનારા પાણીમાં અટવાઈ ગયા હતા તો સ્કુલ પણ બંધ જેવી જ રહી હતી. ફ્લડ કંટ્રોલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ છેલ્લા પાંચ દિવસથી વરસી રહેલા મેઘરાજા મળસ્કેથી જ મૂશળધાર વરસવાનું શરૂ કર્યું હતું, જેમ જેમ સવાર થઈ ગઈ તેમ તેમ મેઘરાજાનું જોર વધીગયું હતું. સવારથી જ સાબેલાધાર વરસાદ શરૂ થયો હતો. તે ત્રણ કલાક સુધી યથાવત રીતે વરસ્યો હતો. જેમાં સુરતમાં ત્રણ કલાક ચાર ઈંચ વરસાદ ખાબકયો હતો.

વરસાદને કારણે સુરત શહેરના તમામ નીચાણવાળા વિસ્તારોમાં ઘૂંટણ સમા પાણી ભરાઇ જતાં વાહન વ્યવહારને વ્યાપક અસર પહોંચી હતી. ટુ વ્હીલર જઈ શકે તેવી કોઈ સ્થિતિ દેખાતી ન હતી. શહેરમાં જાણે પાણીની રેલમછેલ થઈ ગઈ હોય તેમ ઠેર ઠેર પાણીનું સામાન્ય દેખાતું હતું. ભારે વરસાદને કારણે સવારે કામદારને જનારા અટવાઈ પડ્યા હતા મોટાભાગના વિસ્તારોમાં પાણી ભરાઈ જતા વાહન વ્યવહાર કટ ઓફ થઈ ગયો હતો. આજે સવારે છ વાગ્યાથી લઈને 9 વાગ્યા સુધીના 3 કલાકમાં સુરત શહેરમાં અનરાધાર ચાર ઇંચ વરસાદ ઝીંકાતા જનજીવનને વ્યાપક અસર પહોંચી હતી. ભારે વરસાદને કારણે સુરતના સેન્ટ્રલ ઝોન રાંદેર કતારગામની સ્થિતિ વધારે કફોડી થઈ હતી.

આ વિસ્તારમાં જેમાં વરસાદને કારણે નીચાણવાળા વિસ્તારોમાં પાણી ફરી વળ્યા હતા.સુરત શહેરમાં આજે સવારથી જ મેઘરાજા આક્રમક બનીને વરસતા ઠેર ઠેર પાણી ભરાયા હતા. શાળામાં પણ રજા જાહેર કરી દેવાઇ હતી. ભારે વરસાદને પગલે સુરત જિલ્લા શિક્ષણ અધિકારીએ પણ તમામ આચાર્યને સુચના આપી હતી કે આચાર્યોએ પોતાની વિવેકબુદ્ધિનો ઉપયોગ કરીને શાળાઓમાં રજા રાખવી કે નહીં તેનો નિર્ણય લેવાનો રહેશે. જોકે દેમાર વરસાદથી વાલીઓએ સવારે જ બાળકોને શાળાએ મોકલવાનું હિતાવહ લાગ્યું ના હોવાથી મોકલ્યા ના હતા. તો કેટલીક જગ્યાએ પાણી ભરાતા સ્કૂલવાન પણ જઈ શકતી ન હતી.
