ગુજરાતી બાળવાર્તા- મિઠ્ઠુરામનો અવાજ

એક પોપટ હતો. તેનું નામ હતુ મિઠ્ઠુરામ. તેનું ઘર હતુ એક પિંજરુ, તે જ તેની દુનિયા હતી. મિઠ્ઠુરામનો અવાજ ખૂબ સારો હતો પણ તે ફક્ત રાત્રે જ ગાતો હતો. એક રાત્રે જ્યારે મીઠ્ઠુરામ ગીત ગાઈ રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે ત્યાંથી એક ચામાચિડિયુ નીકળ્યુ. ચામાચિડિયાએ જોયુ કે મીઠ્ઠુરામનો અવાજ તો બહુ જ મીઠો છે. ચામાચિડિયાએ મીઠ્ઠુરામને પૂછ્યુ ' કેમ ભાઈ, તારો અવાજ આટલો મીઠો છે, છતાં તુ રાત્રે જ કેમ ગાય છે ?

મીઠ્ઠુરામે તેનું કારણ જણાવતા કહ્યુ કે - એક વાર જ્યારે હું જંગલમાં દિવસના સમયે ગાઈ રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે એક શિકારી ત્યાંથી નીકળ્યો. તેણે મારો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો અને તે કારણે જ મને કેદ કરી લીધો. ત્યારથી આજ સુધી હું આ પિંજરામાં કેદ છુ. આ બતાવતા મીઠ્ઠુરામ બોલ્યો કે ત્યારપછી મેં આ શીખી લીધુ છે કે દિવસમાં ગાવુ એ મુસીબતનું કારણ બની શકે છે તેથી હવે હું રાત્રે જ ગાઉં છુ. ચામાચિડિયાએ કહ્યુ કે - 'દોસ્ત આ તો તે કેદ થતાં પહેલા વિચારવું જોઈતુ હતુ.
