વિશ્વના મહાન ધર્મોમાં ખ્રિસ્તી ધર્મનું એક આગવું સ્થાન છે. આ ધર્મના સ્થાપક ઈશુ ખ્રિસ્તના જન્મના સંદર્ભમાં ૨૫મી ડિસેમ્બરે સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં નાતાલ પર્વની ઉજવણી કરવામાં આવેછે. સામાન્ય રીતે નાતાલ પર્વની ઉજવણી લોકો આનંદ પ્રમોદ કરી, ભાવતા ભોજનની ફિસ્ટ કરી, ગાયન વાદન સાથે ડાંસ કરી, આતશબાજી કરી, ઘર તેમજ દેવળને રોશનીથી શણગારી,કેટલીક જગ્યાએ દારૂની મહેફિલ કરી ઉજવે છે. વળી ઘણી જગ્યાએ ઈશુના જીવન પ્રસંગોની ઝાંખી જોવા મળે છે।કેટલાક જરૂર દેવાળમાં જઇ પ્રભુને પ્રાર્થના પણ કરે છે. ભલે આપણે આ બધું કરી પર્વનો આનંદ લુટીએ. પરંતુ નાતાલના આ પર્વની ગરિમા તેમજ પવિત્રતાના સંદર્ભમાં આ પ્રકારની ઉજવણી શું પર્યાપ્ત છે? શું આપને નથી લાગતું કે નાતાલ પર્વના મર્મ તેમજ તેના દિવ્ય સંદેશને ધ્યાનમાં રાખી આપણે તેની ઉજવણી કરવી જોઈએ?

પયગંબર ઈશુ ખ્રિસ્તે જીવન પર્યન્ત સમગ્ર વિશ્વને પ્રેમ, દયા, કરુણા, ક્ષમા જેવા પાયાના જીવનમૂલ્યોનો સંદેશ આપ્યો છે. તેમના વિરોધીઓએ તેમના જીવનમાં અનેક વિઘ્નો ઊભા કર્યાં અને અનેક કષ્ટો આપ્યાં. પરંતુ સહનશીલતાની આ મૂર્તિએ કષ્ટોને સ્વસ્થતા પૂર્વક સહન કરી સહનશીલતાનું ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ ઉદાહરણ વિશ્વને પૂરું પાડ્યું છે. તેમના જીવનના અંતિમ સમયે તેમના વિરોધીઓએ તેમને કાંટાળો તાજ પહેરાવ્યો, તેમના ઉપર પથ્થરો ફેંક્યા અને અંતે ક્રોસ પર ચઢાવી શરીર પર ખીલા ઠોકી દીધા. આવી પરિસ્થિતિમાં પણ તેમના મુખમાંથી ઉદગાર નીકળે છે “હે પ્રભુ એમને માફ કરજો કારણ કે તેઓને ખબર નથી કે તેઓ શું કરી રહ્યા છે”. ક્ષમા બક્ષવાનું, અપકારી ઉપર પણ ઉપકાર કરવાનું કેવું શ્રેષ્ઠ ઉદાહરણ છે! તેમના જીવનમાંથી પ્રેરણા લઈ આપણે પણ જો સહનશીલતાને ધારણ કરી લોકોને માંફ કરીશું, અપકારી પર ઉપકાર કરીશું, દુશ્મનને પણ મિત્ર બનાવીશું અને સર્વને પ્રેમ કરીશું તો સાચા અર્થમાં ક્રિસમસ ની ઉજવણી કરી ગણાશે
નાતાલમાં સાંતાક્લોઝનું વિશેષ મહત્વ છે. તેને સફેદ વાળ, સફેદ દાઢી તેમજ લાલ ડગલા વાળા વૃધ્ધ ફરીસ્તાના સ્વરૂપે બતાવવામાં આવે છે. વૃધ્ધત્વ પરિપક્વતાની નિશાની છે. સફેદ વાળ પવિત્રતાની નિશાની છે. એવું માનવામાં આવે છે કે તે મોડી રાત્રે આવે છે અને બાળકો માટે અનેક પ્રકારની ભેટ, રમકડાં, ચોકલેટ વગેરે લાવે છે. સાથે સાથે બાળકોની સાથે રમી તેમને આનંદ-ઉત્સાહમાં લાવી દે છે.જે એકલા અટુલા છે, જેમનું આ સંસારમાં કોઈ નથી તેવા બાળકોને સાંતાક્લોઝ ખાસ પ્રેમ આપી, તેમનામાં આશા પ્રગટાવી આત્મવિશ્વાસથી ભરપૂર કરી દે છે. વર્તમાન સમયે જ્યારે શોષિતો, વંચિતો, પીડિતો, દુઃખી, અશાંત આત્માઓનું પ્રમાણ ઉત્તરોત્તર વધતું જાય છે ત્યારે આપણે સૌએ સાંતાક્લોઝમાંથી પ્રેરણા લઈ,પરિપક્વ બની, જીવનમાં પવિત્રતાને અપનાવી, સાંતાક્લોઝ જેવા ફરીસ્તા બની બની અન્યને મદદરૂપ બનવું જોઈએ, પીડિતો, અનાથ તેમજ ગરીબોમાં ખુશી આનંદ ઉમંગ ભરીશું તો નાતાલને સાચા અર્થમાં ઉજવી ગણાશે.
નાતાલ દરમ્યાન ઘરની બહાર તેમજ દેવળમાં તારા (star)ના પ્રતિક ને લટકાવવામાં આવે છે. પ્રકાશિત તારો જ્યોતિ સ્વરૂપ આત્માનું તેમજ લાઇટ સ્વરૂપ પરમાત્માનું પ્રતિક છે. ઈશુએ પરમાત્માને પ્રકાશ સ્વરૂપે માન્યા છે. ફેસ્ટિવલના દિવસોમાં આ પ્રકાશિત તારામાંથી પ્રેરણા લઈ જો આપણે આત્મિક સ્વરૂપમાં સ્થિત થઈ બધાને આત્મિક દૃષ્ટિથી જોવાનો પ્રયાસ કરીશું તો બધાં માટે સરળતાથી સમત્વનો, બંધુત્વનો તેમજ પ્રેમનો ભાવ કેળવી શકીશું. પરમેશ્વર મહાજયોતિ, દિવ્યજ્યોતિ સ્વરૂપ છે તે આપણી આત્માનો પારલૌકિક પિતા છે. ક્રિસમસના દિવસોમાં જો આપણે આત્મિક સ્વરૂપમાં સ્થિત થઈ પરમેશ્વરને ચમકતાં સિતારા સ્વરૂપે અર્થાત લાઇટ સ્વરૂપે પ્રેમથી તેમજ પૂરા સમર્પણ ભાવથી યાદ કરીશું તો સાચા અર્થમાં ક્રિસમસ ઉજવી ગણાશે
નાતાલ દરમ્યાન ઘરમાં ક્રિસમસ ટ્રી (નાતાલ વૃક્ષ) લાવવામાં આવે છે અને તેને ખાસ કરીને લાઇટ્સ,ફૂગ્ગા, ઘંટડીઓ, ચોકલેટ્સ, કેન્ડી, રીબન, ઘરેણાં વગેરેથી ખૂબ શણગારવામાં આવે છે. ક્રિસમસ ટ્રી એ સદાબહાર વૃક્ષ છે. તેને ખૂબજ પવિત્ર માનવમાં આવે છે. બીજા શબ્દોમાં તે જીવનની પવિત્રતાનું પણ પ્રતિક છે. ઘરનો વાસ્તુ દોષ દૂર કરનારું તેમજ ખરાબ આત્મા કે પ્રેત આત્માના પ્રભાવને દૂર કરનારું માનવામાં આવે છે. આ સદાબહાર વૃક્ષ વર્ષ દરમ્યાન કદી કરમાતું નથી. આ પવિત્ર વૃક્ષ આપણને સંદેશ આપે છે કે આપણે પણ સદાને માટે આપની પવિત્રતાને જાળવી રાખીએ તેમજ સદા ખુશ રહીએ અને બધાંને ખુશ રાખીએ. જેમ ક્રિસમસ ટ્રીને આકર્ષક રીતે શણગારીએ છીએ તેજ પ્રમાણે જો આપણે આપણી આત્માને આ પવિત્ર દિવસો દરમ્યાન વિવિધ ગુણો, મૂલ્યો તેમજ શક્તિઓથી શણગારીશું તો સાચા અર્થમાં ક્રિસમસ મનાવી ગણાશે.
પરમેશ્વરને પ્રેમ કરો; તમારા પડોશીને પ્રેમ કરો; નફરતને પ્રેમમાં, ગુસ્સાને નમ્રતામાં બદલી તમારા જીવનને શ્રેષ્ઠ બનાવો; બીજા પાસે તમે જેવો વ્યવહાર ઇચ્છો છો તેવો વ્યવહાર તમે અન્ય સાથ કરો; તમારા પ્રભુ સાથે પ્રાર્થના દ્વારા વાર્તાલાપ કરી તેનો આભાર માનો, તમારો સાથ નિભાવવા તે તત્પર છે. ઈશુએ આપેલા આ સંદેશને નાતાલના દિવસોમાં આપણા જીવનમાં ચરિતાર્થ કરીએ. ૧૩૫થી પણ વધુ દેશોમાં કાર્યરત આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય શૈક્ષણિક સંસ્થા પ્રજાપિતા બ્રહ્માકુમારી ઈશ્વરીય વિશ્વ વિદ્યાલય પણ વિશ્વભરમાં નાતાલની ઉજવણી ઉપરોક્ત સદર્ભમાં વિશિષ્ટ રીતે કરે છે.
