છેલ્લાં 500 વર્ષથી, ભગવાન જગન્નાથજીને રથયાત્રા કાઢવાની પરંપરા છે, કહે છે, જગન્નાથપુરીના વિશ્વ પ્રસિદ્ધ રથયાત્રાના ઉજવણી શુકલ પક્ષની બીજ એટલે કે આષાઢી બીજના દિવસે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. આ વખતે આ યાત્રા 14 મી જુલાઇ 2018 થી શરૂ થશે. આ રથ યાત્રા ફેસ્ટિવલ દરમિયાન ભગવાન જગન્નાથને આખા શહેરમાં ફરાવાય છે. ચાલો આપણે જાણીએ કે શા માટે અને તે કેવી રીતે કાઢાય છે, જગન્નાથ રથયાત્રા અને શું તેની પાછળનો સંપૂર્ણ વાર્તા.

ભગવાન જગન્નાથજીના રથયાત્રાની શરૂઆત ભગવાન જગન્નાથના રથ સામે સોનાની ઝાડૂ (સાવરણી) લગાવીને શરૂ થાય છે. પછી, મંત્રો અને સ્તોત્રોનો ઉચ્ચાર સાથે આ રથયાત્રા શરૂ થાય છે. ઘણા પરંપરાગત સાધનોના અવાજમાં, રથને જાડા જાડા દોરડાથી વિશાળ રથ ખેંચવામાં આવે છે. સૌપ્રથમ, બલભદ્રના રથ તાલધ્વજમાં શરૂ કરે છે તે પછી, બહેન સુભદ્રાજીનો રથ શરૂ થાય છે. અંતે, જગન્નાથજીનું રથને ખૂબજ શ્રદ્ધાપૂર્વક ભક્તો લોકો ખેંચવું શરૂ કરે છે.

એવું માનવામાં આવે છે કે જે લોકો રથ સાથે સહકાર કરે છે તેને મોક્ષ મળે છે. જણાવીએ કે, જગન્નાથજીની રથયાત્રા ગુંદેચા મંદિમાં પહોંચીને પૂરી હોય છે. આ જ મંદિર છે, જ્યાં વિશ્વકર્માએ ત્રણ દેવી મૂર્તિઓ બનાવી છે. આ મંદિરને 'ગુંદેચા બાડી' પણ કહેવામાં આવે છે. ખાસ વાત આ છે આ સ્થળને ભગવાનની માસીનો ઘર પણ ગણવામાં આવે છે. જો રથ સૂર્યાસ્ત સુધી ગુંડેચા મંદિર સુધી પહોંચતું નથી, તો પછી તે બીજા દિવસે તેની યાત્રા પૂર્ણ કરે છે.આ મંદિરમાં, ભગવાન એક અઠવાડિયા સુધી રહે છે. જ્યાં તેમની પૂજા કરાય છે.

ભગવાનની માસીના ઘરના સ્વાદિષ્ટ પકવાનના ભોગ લગાવાય છે. તે પછી જ્યારે ભગવાન જગન્નાથ બીમાર પડે છે ત્યારે તેને પથ્યનો ભોગ લગાવાય છે. જેનાથી એ જલ્દી ઠીક થઈ જાય છે. રથયાત્રાના ત્રીજા દિવસે, લક્ષ્મીજી અહીં ભગવાન જગન્નાથની શોધમાં આવે છે. પરંતુ દ્વત્તાપતિના બારણા બંધ કરવાથી લક્ષ્મીજી ગુસ્સે થઈ જાય છે અને ગુસ્સાને લીધે તેમણે રથના પૈંડા તોડીને હીરા ગોહિરી શાહી, પુરીના એક મોહલ્લા જ્યાં, લક્ષ્મીજીનું મંદિર છે, માતા ત્યાં પાછો આવે છે.

જેના પછી ભગવાન જગન્નાથ ત્યાં લક્ષ્મીજીને મનાવવા જાય છે. એમ કહેવામાં આવે છે કે તેનાથી માફી માંગવાની સાથે ઘણા પ્રકારના ભેટો આપી પ્રસન્ન કરવાના પ્રયાસ કરતા રહે છે. ભગવાન જગન્નાથ દ્વારા દેવી લક્ષ્મીજીને મનાવવા માટે વિજયની પ્રતીક તરીકે આ દિવસને વિજયા દશમી અને વાપસીને બોહતડી ગોચાના રૂપમાં

ઉજવાય છે. એવું કહેવાય છે કે 9 દિવસ પૂરા થયા પછી, ભગવાન જગન્નાથ પાછા જગન્નાથ મંદિરમાં જાય છે. દરેક વર્ષો આ ક્રમ ચાલુ રહે છે.
