हर्षोल्लास, आनंदबहार, उमंगबेला छाने वाली है,
शिवभक्तों का सुपर्व महाशिवरात्रि आने वाली है।
महाशिवरात्रि शिवभक्तों के अटल विश्वास का महापर्व है। जो पूरे भारत में शिव उपासकों व शैव पंथ द्वारा अत्यंत हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। हमारे मध्यभारत के मध्य में स्थित उज्जैन शहर में जहाँ तृतीय ज्योतिर्लिंग श्री महाकालेश्वर विराजित है। वहाँ मंदिर परिसर में तो महाशिवरात्रि उत्सव पूरे नौ दिन श्री महाकाल भगवान के विशेष श्रृंगार व पूजन के साथ धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है।
इस वर्ष यह महापर्व 21 फरवरी, 2022 से 01 मार्च, 2022 तक मनाया जाएगा। ऐसे तो वर्ष में 12 शिवरात्रि आती है लेकिन यह मुख्य शिवरात्रि है जो फाल्गुन मास में आती है, इसी दिन शिवजी, पार्वतीजी के साथ गठबंधन में बंधे तभी इसे महाशिवरात्रि कहा जाता है। इसके पूर्व बिल्कुल नवरात्रि की तरह नौ दिन तक शिवजी की नवरात्रि मनाई जाती है। मात्र उज्जैन ही एक ऐसा स्थान है, जहाँ पर इस तरह महाशिवरात्रि का महत्वपूर्ण पर्व हर्षोल्लास के मनाने की परंपरा है।
इस समय गर्भगृह में आम भक्तों का प्रवेश बंद कर दिया जाता है और मुख्य पुजारी सहित, अन्य सहयोगी पुजारियों द्वारा महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग को नौ अलग-अलग रूप में श्रृंगारित किया जाता है। इसके पीछे मान्यता है कि परमपिता शिवजी जो तन पर भस्मी, माता सती की स्मृति में रमाए रहते हैं, उन्हें दूल्हे के स्वरूप में पूर्ण श्रृंगारित किया जाए। बिल्कुल वैसे ही जैसे हिन्दू धर्म में विवाहपूर्व किसी वर के साथ रीति-रिवाजों निभाया जाता है।

श्री महाकालेश्वर मंदिर में इस विवाह उत्सव का प्रारंभ गणेशपूजा से किया जाता है। वैसे शिवजी को हल्दी नहीं अपितु चंदन चढ़ाया जाता है। परन्तु वर्ष में इन दिनों श्री महाकाल भगवान को हल्दी लगाने के लिए नौ दिवसीय हल्दी अभिषेक किया जाता है और चंदन का उबटन लगाया जाता है। तदुपरांत अवंतिका के राजाधिराज के विशेष नौ दिवसीय श्रृंगारों की बेला प्रारंभ होती है।
इसमें प्रथम दिवस पर श्री महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग को भांग, सूखे मेवे, फल-फूल से श्रृंगारित कर रेशमी वस्त्रों से सजाया जाता है। जिसे वस्त्रधारण श्रृंगार स्वरूप कहा जाता है। द्वितीय दिवस पर श्री शेषनाग श्रृंगार किया जाता है। इसमें ज्योतिर्लिंग को भांग से तो श्रृंगारित किया ही जाता है, साथ ही विशेष शेषनाग का रजत मुकुट पहनाया जाता है। तृतीय दिवस पर श्री घटाटोप श्रृंगार जो ज्योतिर्लिंग के ऊपर से चाँदी का मुखौटा होता है, उसे धारण करवाया जाता है। चतुर्थ दिवस पर श्री छबीना श्रृंगार, पंचम दिवस श्री होलकर श्रृंगार, षष्टम दिवस श्री मनमहेश श्रृंगार, सप्तम दिवस श्री उमामहेश श्रृंगार, अष्टम दिवस श्री शिवतांडव श्रृंगार किया जाता है। यह सारे श्रृंगार ज्योतिर्लिंग पर शंकर, पार्वती स्वरूप में चाँदी की प्रतिकृति के मुखौटे सजाकर किए जाते हैं। इन सभी श्रृंगारों का महत्व विवाह से संबंधित रीति-रिवाजों से जुड़ा हुआ हैं।
इसके बाद नवम दिन आती है महाशिवरात्रि की बेला जिसमें ज्योतिर्लिंग को विशेष रूप से अलंकृत किया जाता है। परिसर को पुष्पों से आच्छादित कर, गर्भगृह में पुष्प बंगला सजाया जाता है। इस दिन दर्शन के लिए मंदिर परिसर में भक्तों का सेलाब उमड़ पड़ता है।
महाशिवरात्रि पर भक्त रात्रिजागरण करते हैं। भजन संध्या और भजन-कीर्तन किए जाते है। परन्तु यही पर महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग के श्रृंगार समाप्त नहीं होते बल्कि दसवें दिन पर शिव-पार्वती विवाह समारोह की परंपरा निभाई जाने के बाद अतिमोहक श्री सेहरा श्रृंगार किया जाता है। जिसमें सवामन पुष्पों से सेहरा बनाकर पुजारी द्वारा श्री महाकाल को पहनाया जाता है। यह दिवस ही सम्पूर्ण वर्ष में मात्र एक ऐसा दिवस है, जिसमें भस्मा आरती ब्रह्ममुहूर्त में ना होकर विशेष मुहूर्त में दोपहर के समय होती है।
उसके बाद विशेष भोग आरती की जाती है। फिर सेहरे के फूल भक्तों में वितरित किए जाते हैं। इसके पीछे धारणा है कि प्रभु महाकाल के सेहरे के इन फूलों को घर में रखने से वर्षभर सुख-समृद्धि बनी रहती है। साथ ही जिन परिवारों में विवाहयोग्य संतानों के मांगलिक कार्यों में व्यवधान आ रहा हो, तो शीघ्र संपन्न हो जाते है। तो इस तरह नौ दिनों तक अवंतिका नगरी में भक्त वृहद आस्था और विश्वास से महाशिवरात्रि में विशेष दर्शनों से लाभान्वित हो मन इच्छित फल को श्री शिवशक्ति से प्राप्त करते है। हम सब पर भी प्रभु महाकाल की कृपा सदैव बनी रहे। जय श्री महाकाल।
