राहत ! अदबी दुनिया की राहत, ज़िंदगी के दर्द से थके उम्र के मारों की राहत, गुस्से मे उबलते और सिस्टम से नाराज़ ज़हनों की राहत, मोहब्बत से बग़ावत तक के सफ़र में हर इंदौरी के हमसफ़र रहे राहत, जवां दिलों के जांबाज़ जज़्बों की राहत और कॉलेज के मुशायरों के जोशो खरोश की राहत !
“राहत” इंदौर आपको कैसे फ़रामोश करेगा! आप! जो कच्ची कच्ची उम्रों के पक्के याराने वाले दौर में ऐन जवानी आने के थोड़े पहले बच्चों के बैग में अपना घर बना लेते थे, आप जो चेतक सेंटर के सेंड्विच के साथ साथ धीरे धीरे आंखों के ज़रिये ज़ेहन में घुलते जाते थे; आप जो सेंट्रल लाईब्रेरी की एकाध किताब के बाद खुद हाथों में आकर चुपके से बोल जाया करते थे, “कोई बताए के मैं इसका क्या इलाज करूँ/ परेशां करता है ये दिल धड़क धड़क के मुझे” (और उसके बाद चुपके से जब कोई दोशीज़ा अपनी गाड़ी पार्क कर पास से गुज़रती तो धीमे धीमे एक शे’र और हो जाया करता था,” सुला चुकी थी ये दुनिया थपक थपक के मुझे/ जगा दिया तेरी पाज़ेब ने खनक के मुझे”)
बोलिए राहत! आपने ऐसा क्यों किया! इतना तवील अरसा ज़िंदगी के एक एक लम्हे इतना साथ निभा आप ग़ज़ल को भरी जवानी में ही विधवा कैसे कर गए!
एक हल्की गर्म और बेहद संजीदा सी दोपहर थी वह! जब अज़ीम ने घर आकर एक ग़ज़ल सुनाई थी:
धूप बहुत है मौसम जल-थल भेजो न
बाबा मेरे नाम का बादल भेजो न
मोल्सरी की शाख़ों पर भी दीये जलें
शाख़ों का केसरया आँचल भेजो न
नन्ही मुन्नी सब चहकारें कहाँ गईं
मोरों के पैरों की पायल भेजो न
बस्ती बस्ती दहशत किसने बो दी है
गलियों बाज़ारों की हलचल भेजो न
सारे मौसम एक उमस के आदी हैं
छाँव की ख़ुश्बू, धूप का संदल भेजो न
मैं तन्हां हूं आख़िर किस से बात करूँ
मेरे जैसा कोई पागल भेजो न
चाय के ताज़ा घूंट के साथ, ढलती दोपहरी की ज़र्द होती लाली की उदासी भी जैसे घूंट घूंट गला गर्माने लगी थी।लफ़्ज़ों की आतिशी हिद्दत ने कुछ यूं जकड़ा कि बेसाख़्ता मुंह से निकला, “किसने लिखा है?”
“राहत इंदौरी साहब” उसने बहुत तेहज़ीब वाली मुस्कुराहट के साथ जवाब दिया था।अज़ीम उसके बाद ऑस्ट्रेलिया चला गया पर अदबी शिर्यानों में अब साहिर साहब की “परछाईयों” की जगह अचानक से कोईं “राहत” नाम की राहत हरकत करने लगी थी।और मोरसली गली से गुज़रते हुए हर बार गज़ल के जवान लबों ने आप ही आप बुदबुदाया था,

“मोल्सरी की शाख़ों पर भी दिये जलें/ शाख़ों का केसरया आँचल भेजो न!” मोरसली गली क्यों! मोनिका की आईस्क्रीम, आईसीएच की कॉफ़ी, अजंता के सेंडविच, मथुरावाला का उपमा और रामबाग की तवील ख़ामोशी में छन छन कर ऊपर आती आवाज़ों के साथ खिलती खुलती लाल बाल्टी वाले की कचोरियां और सराफ़ा की देर रात गला तर करती चाय वाली रुतें भी तो वही रुतें थी कि जब आपके शेर ज़िंदगी को ज़िंदगी दिया करते थे।
सच है राहत! पुराने शहर के मंज़र निकलने लगते हैं/ ज़मीं जहां भी खुले, घर निकलने लगते हैं .......आपको तो पता भी नही कि स्नेहलता गंज से पत्थर गोदाम वाले रास्ते जब सुबह सुबह “अभ्यंकर क्लास” जाते हुए आप ज़हन में घुसपैट लगा कर कहते थे, “ हसीन लगते हैं जाड़ों में सुबह के मंज़र / सितारे धूप पहनकर निकलने लगते हैं” से मूड में आने पर मोरेश्वर सर के एक पसंदीदा शेर “लोग हर मोड़ पे रुक-रुक के संभलते क्यों हैं/ इतना डरते हैं तो फिर घर से निकलते क्यों हैं” तक, छावनी से निकल, संयोगितागंज की तंग चक्करदार गलियों से होते हुए, बॉम्बे बेकरी के पीछे के उन खंडहरों के पास से गुज़र जाने तक आप नशा बन कर छाए रहते थे।
सच तो यह है कि इस शहर ने आप से मोहब्बत की थी राहत! मालवा मील से मोतीतबेले तक और हरसिद्धी से हुकुम चंद मील तक “बहुत से लोग कि जो हर्फ़-आश्ना भी नहीं/ इसी में खुश थे कि तुम्हारी किताब रखते थे” पर आप वबा के मौसम में ना जाने का वादा कर के भी इसी रुत में अलविदा कह गए!
जवां इंदौर का ताज़ा ज़हन दुष्यंत होना चाह रहा है, ए काश! कि वह शकुंतला की मानिंद अपने माज़ी के उन दिनों को भुला पाए जो तुमसे अफ्ज़ां थे! वही रविंद्र नाट्यग्रह, वही उम्दा अदबी प्रोग्राम।वही खूब देर तक बजती तालियाँ और एक सादा सी शख़्सियत।क़तई ग़ैर शायराना लिबास में उदास रात सी संवलाई आपकी छब! सामईन की बेक़रारी और आदाब करते आपके अदबी तेवर।
बेपरवाही से गद्दों में धंस कर जमाई बैठक और गंगा जमुनी तहज़ीब का आपका लहजा! वाक़ई जब आप माईक पर होते थे तो सामईन के इर्दगिर्द अल्फ़ाज़ का एक महीन जाल सा बुन जाता था।जुग्नू जुग्नू आपके लफ़्ज़ बिजली बन कर गरजने लगते और आख़िरकार सियासी लोगों की दुकाने उनकी ज़द में आ ही जातीं थी। आप ज़्यादा नहीं सुनाते थे, पर जो सुनाते वह कभी भी ना काफ़ी नहीं होता था। सूरज चांद तहा कर रोशनदान में रख कर भूल जाना और फिर जुगनुओं की बातों से फूलों वाले आंगन में रोशनी कर देना ...सच! कितनी बडी राहत था।
हज़ार बार देवी अहिल्या विश्वविद्यालय के तालिबे इल्म और बेचैनी भरा आपका इंतेज़ार! आपकी शायरी का मुश्किल फल्सफ़ा और छट्पटाहट भरी गज़लें।गीतों में दुनिया जहान का दर्द और मआशरे भर की घुटन।मुल्क के आम इंसान के रंजीदा हालात की बेबाक बयानी।आपका दिल को छू जाना, जिंदगी के फलसफ़े को गीतों मे आसानी से बयान कर देना।वह तल्ख लहजे भरे आपके तेवर।आपका अवाम की तरफ़ से एवाने सियासत को कहना, “किसी के बाप का हिंदोस्तान थोड़ी है”।
वह रुह को छू जाने वाली शायरी और उस दौर के हर जवां दिल की धड़कनों की बेक़रारी।जैसे ज़हन के लिये कोई एंटिडिप्रेशन एजेंट।वह आपकी शायरी का एक ही मजहब,यक़ीनन इंसानियत।ख़ुशी में जब आप बुलंदियों का सफ़र करते थे तो मोम की परों से आसमान छू आया करते थे।और नाराज़गियों के तो कहने ही क्या! जब आप नाराज़ होते, बेहद ज़िद्दी इंदौरी तेवर सी आपकी मुंहफट शायरी तमाम मुलाहिज़ा बलाए ताक़ रख खुल कर दहाड़ा करती थी, “सौदा यही पे होता है हिन्दोस्तान का/ संसद भवन में आग लगा देनी चाहिए.” सियासी गुफ़्तगू के अलावा नाराज़ राहत की नाराज़गी के और भी कईं हवाले रहे हैं।जब आप औरों से ही नही ख़ुद से नाराज़ होते तो ख़ुद से ही पूछा करते थे, मैं फूल हूँ तो फूल को गुलदान हो नसीब/ मैं आग हूँ तो आग बुझा देनी चाहिए.”
राहत! आप लहजे से इंदौरी थे।बातों से इंदौरी थे।आपका फल्सफ़ा इंदौरियत का था और आपकी दुनिया ख़्वाबों की दुनिया ज़रूर थी मगर बेहद इंदौरी ख़्वाबों की।इसी से तमाम शायरों की चर्ब ज़ुबानी के बीच जब आप आपकी निरी इंदौरी ज़ुबान में कहा करते थे:
उसकी कत्थई आँखों में हैं जंतर-मंतर सब
चाक़ू-वाक़ू, छुरियाँ-वुरियाँ, ख़ंजर-वंजर सब
जिस दिन से तुम रूठीं मुझ से रूठे-रूठे हैं
चादर-वादर, तकिया-वकिया, बिस्तर-विस्तर सब
मुझसे बिछड़ कर वह भी कहाँ अब पहले जैसी है
फीके पड़ गए कपड़े-वपड़े, ज़ेवर-वेवर सब
आखिर मै किस दिन डूबूँगा फ़िक्रें करते है
कश्ती-वश्ती, दरिया-वरिया लंगर-वंगर सब
तब यक़ीन जानें! एक मील मज़दूर से लगा पीली बत्ती की गाड़ी वाले साहब भी अपनी आंखों के पानी को रोक नहीं पाते थे।दिल वाले लोग आप की शायरी की मिठास में खो जाया करते थे और ग़ौरो फ़िक्र वालों के दिलो दिमाग़ पर आप हावी हो जाया करते थे।बेख़याली में ही सही, आपने जब जब अल्फ़ाज़ की सदफ़ को खोला, ख़्याल के मोतियों के साथ दाद के समन्दर के समन्दर ही बह निकले।
राहत! आपकी शख़्सियत का हर पहलू आपकी ग़ज़लों से बयान होता था।इंदौर आपकी वजह से शायरी का एवान हो गया था और आप उसकी पहचान बन गए थे।आपकी शायरी में मांडव की उदास मोहब्बत के सुर थे।निमाड़ के आतिशी टेसुओं के रंग थे।बारिश में हरियाते मानपुर के अल्हड़ जंगलों की सायं सायं थी और निवाली की कच्ची छोटी पगडंडियों के दुश्वार सफ़र भी थे।
महेश्वर की देवी अहिल्या के हाथों थामें शिव जी का सूफ़ीवाद भी नुमायां होता था और लालबाग़ से राजबाडा तक के तमाम भीड़ भरे रास्तों के दर्द भी। राहत! इंदौर की ईद, होली दिवाली और गणेश उत्सव सब को तन्हां कर गए आप! जाते जाते यह भी नहीं सोचा आज बाल गोपाल के आने का दिन है उनका इस्तक़बाल कौन करेगा!
जाने से पहले तो आप कह कर गए थे कि अभी ही लौट आएंगे। लेकिन जब आपने धीरे से कहा था, जनाज़े पे मेरे लिख देना यारों! / मोहब्बत करने वाला जा रहा है”
तब इंदौर को हल्का सा खद्शा हुआ था कि अब आप लौट कर नहीं आएंगे। खजराना के बोसीदा क़ब्रिस्तान ने अल्लाह से रौनक़ मांग ली थी न! अभी तो गज़ल ने आपके नाम की मेहंदी रचाई थी। माथे पर आपके लफ़्ज़ों का झूमर टांगा और आप भी उसे माशूक़ा बना छोड़ गए! क्या होता जो वह कुछ दिन आपके नाम का सुहाग और जी लेती! राहत! लोग गुज़र जाते हैं पर वक़्त थम जाता है।आप तो चले गए पर जवाब दीजिए कौन फूलों की दुकानों में खुशबू का व्यापार करेगा!, दोस्ती में दुश्मनों की राय लेने को कहेगा! कौन आसमान को धुआं बतला कर दिलासे देगा! कौन आने वाले बच्चों के हाथों में भरी बारिशों में पतंगें देगा! और नादान बच्चों को पुचकार कर उनके हाथों से नफ़रतें छीन उन्हें इश्क़ जैसी मीठी ख़ता एक नहीं सौ बार करने को कहेगा!
अलविदा राहत! जाइए राहत! पुल सिरात तो दूर है पर क़ब्र आपके लिए सेज़ हो जाए, जन्नतों के तमाम दरीचें खुल जाए और आप क़ब्र में ऐसे सोए जैसे अव्वल शब की दुल्हन।सामान बांध ही लिया है तो जाइए! कि रब आपकी क़ब्र को नूर से भर दे-
