अंतरराष्ट्रीय खगोल वैज्ञानिकों को पहली बार किसी ब्लैक होल की तस्वीर खींचने में सफलता मिली है। जिस ब्लैक होल की तस्वीर खींची गई है वह कन्या मंदाकिनी समूह की एक मंदाकिनी एम- 87 में स्थित है। यह ब्लैक होल पृथ्वी से साढ़े पांच करोड़ प्रकाश वर्ष दूर है और इसका द्रव्यमान सूर्य से 650 करोड़ गुना अधिक है। यह तस्वीर इवेंट होराइजन टेलिस्कोप द्वारा ली गई है। इवेंट होराइजन टेलिस्कोप को खास ब्लैक होल की तस्वीर लेने की लिए बनाया गया है। इसे दुनियाभर में आठ जगहों पर ये टेलिस्कॉप लगाए गए थे।
क्या होते हैं ब्लैक होल (श्याम विवर)
ब्लैक होल या श्याम विवर तारों की मृत्यु के बाद की अवस्था को कहते हैं। तारे अपने केंद्र में हाइड्रोजन का हीलियम में संलयन या फ्यूज़न से पैदा होने वाली ऊर्जा से चमकते हैं। दो बलों के संतुलन के कारण तारा स्थाई रूप से लम्बे समय तक चमकता रहता है - उसके अपने पदार्थ का गुरुत्वाकर्षण जो उसे संकुचित कर छोटा बनाने का प्रयास करता है और दूसरा केंद्र से बाहर निकलने वाला विकिरण जो उसे फैलाकर बड़ा करना चाहता है।
इसलिए जब तारे के केंद्रीय भाग में ईंधन समाप्त हो जाता है तो वह सिकुड़ने लगता है। सूर्य जैसे द्रव्यमान वाले तारे मृत्यु के बाद श्वेत वामन या व्हाइट ड्वार्फ तारे बनते हैं, जो बाद में धीरे-धीरे ठंडे होकर दृश्य आकाश से लुप्त हो जाते हैं। सूर्य से कई गुना द्रव्यमान वाले बड़े तारों की जब मृत्यु होती है तो उनमें प्रचंड विस्फोट होता है जिसे सुपरनोवा विस्फोट कहते हैं। तारे का बहुत सारा पदार्थ ब्रह्मांड में चारों दिशाओं में फैल जाता है और केंद्र में एक सघन छोटा-सा पिंड बचा रहता है। उसे न्यूट्रॉन तारा कहते हैं।
न्यूट्रॉन तारा इतना सघन होता है कि उसके एक चम्मच भर पदार्थ का वजन कई टन होता है। इससे भी अधिक द्रव्यमान वाले तारों में सुपरनोवा विस्फोट के बाद बचे बीच के भाग का गुरुत्वाकर्षण द्वारा सिकुड़ना और भी आगे जारी रहता है। वह इतना सघन और इतने अधिक गुरुत्वाकर्षण वाला पिंड बन जाता है कि वहां से प्रकाश की किरण भी बाहर नहीं निकल सकती। ऐसे में वह अपना अस्तित्व नहीं बचा पाता। वह शून्य आकार धारण कर लेता है। तारे की इसी अवस्था को श्याम विवर या ब्लैक होल कहते हैं। इवेंट होरिजन टेलीस्कोप से ली गई ब्लैक होल की पहली तस्वीर, जो M87 मंदाकिनी में स्थित है
क्या होता है इवेंट होराइजन
निरंतर संकुचित हो रहे तारे की एक ऐसी अवस्था आती है जब उसके प्रचंड गुरुत्वाकर्षण के कारण उससे प्रकाश के कणों का आना बंद हो जाता है। ठीक उससे पूर्व की अवस्था को हम देख सकते हैं, बाहर से महसूस कर सकते हैं, उसी को ‘इवेंट होराइजन’ कहते हैं। आप इसे‘अंतिम दर्शन’ के रूप में समझ सकते हैं। उसके पार की घटनाएं हमें प्रभावित नहीं कर सकतीं और हम उन्हें नहीं देख सकते।
आकाशगंगा मंदाकिनी में स्थित ब्लैक होल कितना विशाल है?
बहुत सारी मंदाकिनियों यानी गैलेक्सियों के अध्ययन से पता चला है कि लगभग सभी के केंद्र में अति-द्रव्यमान वाले ब्लैक होल उपस्थित हैं। आकाशगंगा के केंद्र में धनु राशि की दिशा में स्थित हमसे 26,000 प्रकाश वर्ष दूर स्थित उस संरचना को ‘सैजिटेरियस ए स्टार’नाम दिया गया है। यह एक अति-द्रव्यमान वाला ब्लैक होल है। इसका आकार लगभग 6 करोड़ किलोमीटर आंका गया है। दस वर्ष पूर्व वर्ष 2009 में अनुमान लगाया गया था कि
इसकी द्रव्यमान 43 लाख सूर्यों के बराबर होगा।
ब्लैक होल से प्रकाश की किरण भी नहीं निकल सकती तो उनके बारे में कैसे पता लगाते हैं?
ब्लैक होल को सीधे देख नहीं सकते, पर उनके आसपास के पदार्थों पर पड़ रहे प्रभाव को देखकर ब्लैक होल की उपस्थिति का पता चलता है। कई बार देखा गया है कि किसी युग्म (बाइनेरी स्टार) का एक तारा ब्लैक होल बन जाता है, दूसरे तारे से निरंतर बाहर निकल रही आवेशित कणों की वायु (जैसे सूर्य की सौर वायु या सोलर विंड) जब ब्लैक होल पर पड़ती है तो वह उसके तीव्र गुरुत्वाकर्षण के कारण अत्यधिक गति प्राप्त कर लेती है और उससे एक्स किरणें, गामा किरणें और रेडियो तरंगें उत्सर्जित होने लगती हैं। तब हम ब्लैक होल की उपस्थिति के चित्र का आकलन कर सकते हैं।

ब्लैक होल के चित्र का क्या महत्व है?
आज से लगभग 100 वर्ष पहले अल्बर्ट आइंस्टाइन ने गुरुत्वाकर्षण का सामान्य सिद्धांत या जनरल थ्योरी ऑफ रिलेटिविटी दिया था। ब्लैक होल जैसे पिंडों की व्याख्या इसी सिद्धांत के द्वारा की जाती है। इस सिद्धांत की सत्यता कई बार सिद्ध की जा चुकी है, पर ब्लैक होल का चित्र लेना इस संदर्भ में आइंस्टाइन के सिद्धांत की एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पुष्टि मानी जाएगी।
इवेंट होराइजन टेलीस्कोप (ईएचटी) से ब्लैक होल का चित्र कैसे खींचा गया?
ब्लैक होल का चित्र लेने के लिए विश्व की आठ बड़ी रेडियो दूरबीनों को संयोजित रूप से उपयोग किया गया है। इस तकनीक से, जिसे वेरी लोंग बेसलाइन इंटरफेरोमेट्री या वीएलबीआई कहते हैं, इस आभासी दूरबीन का आकार पृथ्वी के आकार जितना हो गया।
कोई ब्लैक होल एक बिंदु या उससे भी छोटी वस्तु बन जाता है, पर उसके इवेंट होराइजन का आकार कुछ किलोमीटर का हो सकता है। खगोलशास्त्र की दृष्टि से यह बहुत छोटी लंबाई है। इसे खोजना या नापना कुछ ऐसा है मानो हम पृथ्वी पर बैठे एक दूरबीन द्वारा उस सिक्के को ढूंढने का प्रयास कर रहे हों जिसे चांद पर जाने वाला कोई यात्री भूल से चंद्रमा की सतह पर गिरा आया हो। प्रत्येक दूरबीन से प्राप्त इस विशाल डेटा को एक जगह जमा करके एक सुपर कंप्यूटर की मदद से विश्लेषित किया गया है। इस डेटा से ब्लैक होल का समग्र चित्र

ईएचटी परियोजना में कोई भारतीय रेडियो दूरबीन क्यों शामिल नहीं है?
हमारे यहां जो रेडियो दूरबीन हैं, जैसे- पुणे की प्रसिद्ध जीएमआरटी या जायंट मीटरवेव रेडियो टेलीस्कोप, वह कुछ मीटर लंबी रेडियो तरंगों की पड़ताल करने के लिए बनायी गयी है। जबकि इस अध्ययन के लिए मिलीमीटर वेव उपयुक्त रहती हैं। ईएचटी परियोजना की सभी प्रतिभागी दूरबीनें उच्च आवृत्ति (हाई फ्रीक्वेंसी) वाली रेडियो तरंगों के प्रेक्षण लेती हैं। भारत में इस प्रकार के कार्य के लिए कोई भी रेडियो दूरबीन नहीं है। (इंडिया साइंस
