जैसे कोई खाना पसंद न आने पर या कोई कपड़ा फ़िट न होने पर आप उसे छोड़ देते हैं, उसी तरह मुझे भी छोड़ दिया गया। मेरे माता-पिता ने मुझे बचपन में ही अकेला छोड़ दिया। क्या वो मर गऐ थे? नहीं! मैं कोई अनाथ नहीं हूं और यही बात मेरे लिए और दर्दनाक है।
मेरे माता-पिता ज़िंदा हैं और उसी गांव में रहते हैं जहां मैं रहती हूं लेकिन वो मुझसे अनजानों जैसा व्यवहार करते हैं। जब मैं पालने में ही थी तब उन्होंने मुझे छोड़ने का फ़ैसला कर लिया। उस उम्र में मैं या तो खिलखिलाकर हंस सकती थी या भूख लगने पर रोते हुए किसी के लोरी सुनाकर चुप कराने का इंतज़ार कर सकती थी। एक बच्चा जो उस वक्त बोल नहीं सकता और जिसे पता ही नहीं कि कुछ खो देने या दुखी होने का मतलब क्या है।
जन्म के बाद छोड़ा
मेरे पिता ने मेरे जन्म के तुरंत बाद मेरी मां को छोड़ दिया और किसी अन्य महिला से शादी कर ली, और बाद में उनके अपने बच्चे भी हुए। इसके बाद मेरी मां भी मुझे छोड़कर चली गई। उन्हें भी किसी और पुरुष से प्यार हो गया।
और मैं? मैं तो ये भी नहीं जानती मुझे किस प्यार को याद करना चाहिए, क्योंकि मुझे तो किसी का प्यार मिला ही नहीं। मेरे मामा ने तरस खाकर मुझे पाला। जब मैं इस लायक हो गई कि चीज़ों को समझ सकूं, तो उन्होंने ही मुझे मेरे माता-पिता से मिलाया।
मैंने उन्हें उदासी भरी नज़रों से देखा। मुझे लगा कि वो मुझे खींचकर अपने गले से लगा लेंगे लेकिन उन्होंने मुझे ऐसे देखा जैसे मैं कोई अनजान थी। यह साफ़ था कि मैं इनमें से किसी की औलाद नहीं थी।
इसलिए मेरे मामा ने मुझे एक एनजीओ द्वारा चलाए जा रहे हॉस्टल में डाल दिया। मुझे इसका अंदाज़ा बिलुकल नहीं था कि वहां भी मेरे लिए एक सदमा इंतज़ार कर रहा है।
सौतेली बहन से प्यार करते हैं पिता
मेरे पिता ने मेरी सौतेली बहन को भी उसी हॉस्टल में डाला था और उसे देखकर मुझे रोज एहसास होता कि मैं एक अनचाही औलाद हूं। मेरे मन में उसे लेकर कोई बुरी भावना नहीं है। हम अक्सर बातें करते हैं। हम दोनों एक दूसरे की सच्चाई से वाकिफ़ हैं। फिर भी यह दर्दभरा था। मेरे पिता अक्सर उससे मिलने आते हैं और उसे छुट्टियों में घर लेकर जाते हैं।

मैं चुपचाप इंतज़ार करती और देखती कि क्या वो मुझे भी घर चलने के लिए बुलाएंगे। लेकिन, मेरा इंतज़ार हमेशा बेकार चला जाता है। वे मेरी तरफ़ देखते तक नहीं हैं। मुझे नहीं पता वे मुझसे प्यार करते भी हैं या नहीं, या मेरी सौतेली मां मुझे अपने घर लाने की इजाज़त देंगी या नहीं। मैं उनकी नज़रों के सामने से हट जाती हूं और अकेले में रोती हूं।
दूसरे बच्चों की तरह मुझे छुट्टियों का इंतज़ार नहीं होता है। मेरे लिए छुट्टियों का मतलब है पैसा कमाने के लिए खेतों में काम करना। नहीं तो मुझे खाना भी नहीं मिल पाएगा।
कभी-कभी, मैं जानवर भी चराती हूं। मैं अपनी कमाई अपने मामा के परिवार को दे देती हूं। उसके बदले वो मुझे खाना और रहने की जगह देते हैं। स्कूल के लिए ज़रूरत के स्टेशनरी सामानों के लिए भी पैसा तभी मिलता है। बावजूद इन सबके, मैं अब भी अपने माता-पिता को प्यार करती हूं। मैं उनसे नाराज़ नहीं हूं।
मैं उनके प्यार के लिए तड़पती हूं। मैं उनके साथ त्योहार मनाते हुए सपने देखती हूं। लेकिन, उन दोनों के अपने-अपने साथी और परिवार हैं। मुझे उनकी दहलीज पर क़दम रखने की इजाज़त नहीं है। मुझे ऐसी कोशिश करने में भी डर लगता है। इसलिए, त्योहार आते हैं और चले जाते हैं। परिवार के साथ त्योहार मनाना एक ऐसा सुख है जो मुझे नहीं मिल सकता।
दोस्तों से मिलता है अपनापन
मैं बस त्योहारों की कहानियां सुनती हूं जो मेरे दोस्त मुझे बताते हैं। उनकी छुट्टियां बिल्कुल मेरे सपनों जैसी होती हैं। मेरे दोस्त ही मेरे असली भाई-बहन हैं जिनके साथ मैं अपनी खुशी और दुख ज़ाहिर कर सकती हूं। मैं उनसे अपनी बातें कहती हूं और जब मैं अकेले खुद से लड़ते-लड़ते थक जाती हूं तो वो मेरा ख्याल रखते हैं।
हॉस्टल की वॉर्डन मेरी असली मां की तरह हैं। उनके साथ ही मैं 'मां के प्यार' को समझ पाई हूं। जब मेरे दोस्त बीमार पड़े तो वॉर्डन ने उनके परिवार को बुलाया लेकिन मेरे लिए, वो ही परिवार हैं। वो मेरे लिए जितना कर सकती हैं वो उतना करती हैं। मुझे सबसे अच्छे कपड़े देती हैं। मुझे उस वक्त बहुत ख़ास महसूस होता है। मुझे लगता है जैसे मुझे भी कोई प्यार करता है।
लेकिन, ज़िंदगी की कुछ छोटी-छोटी खुशियां होती हैं जिनके बिना मैंने जीना सीख लिया है। जैसे मैं किसी को नहीं कह सकती कि मेरे पसंद का ये खाना बना दो। मैं इस वक्त नौंवी क्लास में पढ़ रही हूं। यह हॉस्टल सिर्फ 10वीं क्लास तक ही बच्चों को रखता है। मुझे नहीं पता कि इसके बाद कहां जाना है। मेरे मामा मुझे अब और सहयोग नहीं करेंगे।
शायद मुझे अपनी स्कूल की फीस इकट्ठी करने के लिए काम करना होगा क्योंकि ये तो तय है कि मैं अपनी पढ़ाई नहीं छोड़ूंगी। मेरी शिक्षा ही मेरी ज़िंदगी को संवारने का एकमात्र रास्ता है। मैं एक डॉक्टर बनना चाहती हूं। अगर मैं गांव वापस जाती हूं तो हो सकता है कि मेरी शादी करा दी जाए।
ऐसा नहीं है कि मैं शादी या परिवार से नफ़रत करती हूं लेकिन पहले मैं आत्मनिर्भर होना चाहती हूं। जब मैं बड़ी हो जाऊंगी तो अपनी पसंद के लड़के से शादी करूंगी और एक ख़ूबसूरत और प्यारा सा परिवार बनाने की कोशिश करूंगी।
