women's day - ભૂતકાળ હોય કે વર્તમાન મહિલાઓનાં જીવનમાં કોઇ ખાસ ફરક પડયો નથી
સો વરસ પહેલાની મહિલાઓ કરતા આજની મહિલાઓને ઘણી સ્વતંત્રતાઓ મળી છે. આજે મહિલાઓ પૃથ્વીના કોઇપણ ખૂણે એકલપંડે પ્રવાસ કરી શકે છે. એમને નાસા જેવી આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સંસ્થાઓ અવકાશના પ્રવાસે પણ મોકલે છે જેવી ઘણી વાતો સ્ત્રી સ્વાતંત્ર્યના ગીત ગાનાર લોકો આપણને સંભળાવતા હોય છે પણ શું ખરેખર મહિલાઓને સ્વતંત્રતા મળી છે ખરી?
સમાજસેવિકા અને લેખિકા એમ્મા ગોલ્ડમેન નામની એક મહિલાએ પોતાના નિબંધમાં સો વરસ એટલે કે ૧૯૧૪માં પહેલાની મહિલાઓને સતાવતી ચાર સમસ્યા વિશે લખ્યું હતું. આજના સમયમાંં એ નિબંધમાં વર્ણવેલી સમસ્યાઓ પર વિચાર કરતા એવું જણાશે કે સ્ત્રીઓ આજેય એ સમસ્યાઓ સામે રોજ જજુમતી હોય છે.

કામની તાણની આડઅસર પુરુષો કરતાં મહિલાઓને વધું થાય છે. તાજેતરમાં થયેલા સર્વેક્ષણમાં ૩૩ ટકા પુરુષો સામે ૩૭ ટકા મહિલાઓએ કામનું દબાણ અનુભવતી હોવાનો એકરાર કર્યો હતો. ૩૮ ટકા પુરુષો સામે ૩૪ ટકા સ્ત્રીઓએ કામના દબાણનો સામનો કરવા માટે પર્યાપ્ત સાધનો એમની પાસે હોવાની વાત સ્વીકારી હતી. જો કે એકવાત એ પણ છે કે મહિલાઓની દબાણ સહન કરવાની ક્ષમતા પુુરુષો કરતાં થોડી વધુ જ હોય છે.
ઘર બહાર કામ કરવાથી મળતી સ્વતંત્રતા
ઘર સંભાળવા કરતાં નોકરી કરવાથી વધુ સ્વતંત્રતા મળતી હોવાની વાત કાલ્પનિક છે. ખરી રીતે નોકરી કરતી મહિલાઓને સ્વતંત્રતાનો અનુભવ નથી થતો. કામના સ્થળે પણ ઘણી બાબતોમાં સ્ત્રી હોવાને કારણે એમની સ્વતંત્રતા પર કાપ મુકાતો હોય છે.
નોકરી કરવી એટલે ડબલ કામ
નોકરી કરતી મહિલાઓએ ઘરનું કામ તો કરવું જ પડે છે. આ સમસ્યા માત્ર ભારતની નહીં પણ આખા વિશ્ર્વની મહિલાઓની છે. એક સમાજસેવિકાએ ૧૮૮૯માં નોકરી કરતી મહિલાઓ ડબલ શિફ્ટ કરતી હોવાનો ઉલ્લેખ કર્યો હતોે. નોકરી કરવી એટલે પેઇડ જોબ અને ઘરકામ એટલે અનપેઇડ જોબ અથવા સેક્ધડ શિફ્ટનું કામ. તાજેતરના સર્વેક્ષણ પ્રમાણે માત્ર વીસ ટકા પુરુષો જ આ સેક્ધડ શિફ્ટમાં મહિલાઓને મદદ કરતા હોય છે. આખા દિવસના કામ બાદ ઘરે પાછા ફરતી વખતે પુરુષ ફ્રેશ હોય છે પણ સ્ત્રીના મગજમાં ઘરના કામોનું ટાઇમટેબલ રમવા માંડે છે અને તે માનસિક દબાણ અનુભવે છે.
સમાજસેવિકા અને લેખિકા એમ્મા ગોલ્ડમેન નામની એક મહિલાએ પોતાના નિબંધમાં સો વરસ એટલે કે ૧૯૧૪માં પહેલાની મહિલાઓને સતાવતી ચાર સમસ્યા વિશે લખ્યું હતું. આજના સમયમાંં એ નિબંધમાં વર્ણવેલી સમસ્યાઓ પર વિચાર કરતા એવું જણાશે કે સ્ત્રીઓ આજેય એ સમસ્યાઓ સામે રોજ જજુમતી હોય છે.
સો વર્ષ પહેલાની મહિલાઓની આ ચાર સમસ્યાઓ આજે કેટલે અંશે બદલાઈ છે તે વિચારજો.
