ભારતમાં શિવ સંબંધી ઘણા પર્વ અને ઉત્સવ ઉજવાય છે. એમાં શ્રાવણ માસ પણ એમનું ખાસ મહત્વ છે. સંપૂર્ણ મહીનામાં ચાર સોમવાર , એક પ્રદોષ અને એક શિવરાત્રિ , આ યોગ એકસાથે શ્રાવણ મહીનામાં મળે છે. આથી શ્રાવણનું મહીનો વધારે ફળ આપનાર છે.

આ સિવાય શ્રાવણમાં શિવની પૂજામાં બિલ્વપત્ર વધારે મહત્વ રાખે છે. શિવ દ્વારા વિષપાન કરવાના કારણે શિવના માથા પર જળની ધારા થી જળાભિષેક શિવ ભક્ત દ્વારા કરાય છે . શિવ ભોલેનાથને ગંગાને શિરોધાર્ય કરાય છે. શિવનું ગ્યારમો અવતાર હનુમાનના રૂપમાં થયું છે.

સંપૂર્ણ શ્રાવણ માસમાં શિવ ભક્તો દ્વારા શિવપુરાણ , શિવલીલામૃત , શિવ કવચ , શિવ ચાલીસા , શિવ પંક્ષાક્ષર મંત્ર , શિવ પંક્ષાક્ષર સ્ત્રોત , મહામૃત્યુંજય મંત્રનું પાઠ અને જાપ કરાય છે.
