પ્રધાનમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદી તા. 24 ઓકટોબરના રોજ જૂનાગઢના ગિરનાર રોપવે પ્રોજેકટનુ વિડીયો કોન્ફરન્સીંગના માધ્યમથી ઉદ્ઘાટન કરશે. 2.3 કિ.મીનો આ રોપવે મંદિર માટેનો સૌથી મોટો રોપવે છે. દેશમાં પેસેન્જર રોપવેના ક્ષેત્રે પાયોનિયર ગણાતી કંપની ઉષા બ્રેકોએ આ રોપવે વિકસાવ્યો છે. ગિરનાર રોપવે એક કલાકમાં 800 લોકોનુ અને એક દિવસમાં 8,000 લોકોનુ વહન કરવાની ક્ષમતા ધરાવે છે.

એશિયાની સૌથી મોટા રોપ વે પ્રોજેક્ટમાં આધુનિક મોનો કેબલ ટેક્નોલોજીનો ઉપયોગ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે. અંબાજી મંદિર રોડ પર અત્યાર સુધી 180 કિલોમીટર હવાની ગતિ વધુમાં વધુ નોંધાઇ છે. હવાની ગતિનો સામનો કરવા માટે રોપ વેની ડિઝાઇન એરોડાયનેમિક બનાવી છે. ટ્રોલી સ્ટેશનથી નિકળ્યા બાદ 216 મીટર આગળ જશે. ત્યારબાદ બીજી ટ્રોલી રવાના થશે. શરૂઆતમાં 25 ટ્રોલી રહેશે પછી ટ્રોલીની સંખ્યા 31 કરી દેવામાં આવશે.

વડા પ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદી જ્યારે નવી દિલ્હીથી વિડીયો કોન્ફરન્સીંગથી ઉદ્ઘાટન કરશે ત્યારે મુખ્ય પ્રધાન વિજયભાઈ રૂપાણી તથા ગુજરાત સરકારના અન્ય વરિષ્ઠ પ્રધાનો અને અધિકારીઓ ઉદ્ઘાટન સમયે ગિરનારમાં ખાતે હાજર રહે તેવી સંભાવના છે.
કંપનીની નિકટનાં વર્તુળો જણાવે છે કે આ રોપવેની ચકાસણીની કામગીરી પૂર્ણ કરવામાં આવી છે અને ઉદ્ઘાટન પછી ખૂબ ટૂંકા ગાળામાં આ રોપવે વ્યાપારી ધોરણે કામ કરતો થઈ જશે.
ગિરનાર રોપવે દેશનો અત્યંત આધુનિક પેસેન્જર રોપવે છે અને તેમાં નવ ટાવરનો સમાવેશ કરાયો છે. ગિરનાર રોપવેનો હિસ્સો ગણાતી ગ્લાસ ફલોર સહિતની 25 કેબીનમાંની દરેક કેબીનમાં એક સાથે 8 પેસેન્જરનુ વહન થઈ શકશે. હાલમાં ગિરનાર કલાકોમાં પહેંચાય છે તેને બદલે નીચેથી ગિરનારની ટોચ પર અને ત્યાંથી નીચે માત્ર થોડીક મિનીટોમાં જ પહોંચી શકાશે. આ કારણે યાત્રિકો માટે ગિરનાર ની યાત્રા ખુબ જ સરળ બની રહેશે અને વધુ લોકો ગિરનાર આવવા માટે આકર્ષાશે અને સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં પ્રવાસન પ્રવૃત્તિને વેગ મળશે. ઉષા બ્રેકોએ ગુજરાતમાં આ મેગા ટુરિઝમ પ્રોજેકટની સ્થાપના માટે રૂ. 130 કરોડનુ મૂડીરોકાણ કર્યુ છે.
