અરણ્મૂલ શ્રી પાર્થસારથી મંદિર કેરલના પ્રાચીન પ્રાચીન મંદિરોમાંથી એક છે. અહીં ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ પાર્થસારથીના રૂપમાં વિરાજમાન છે. મંદિર પથાનમથિટ્ટા જિલ્લાના અરણ્મૂલમાં પવિત્ર નદી પંબાના કિનારે આવેલુ છે. એવુ માનવામાં આવે છે કે આ મંદિરનુ નિર્માણ અર્જુને કર્યુ હતુ.
કહેવાય છે કે અરણ્મૂલ મંદિરનુ નિર્માણ અર્જુને, યુધ્ધભૂમિમાં નિહત્થા કર્ણને મારવાનો અપરાધના પ્રાયશ્ચિત સ્વરૂપે કર્યુ હતુ. એક અન્ય કથાના મુજબ વાંસના છ ટુકડાથી બનેલ બેડા પર અહીં લાવવામાં આવ્યા. તેથી આ જગ્યાનુ નામ અરણ્મૂલ પડ્યુ જેનો અર્થ થાય છે વાંસના છ ટુકડા.
પ્રત્યેક વર્ષે ભગવાન અયપ્પનના સુવર્ણ અંકી (પવિત્ર ઘરેણું)ને અહીથી વિશાળ શોભાયાત્રામાં સબરીમલ સુધી લાવવામાં આવે છે. ઓણમ તહેવાર દરમિયાન અહીં પ્રખ્યાત અરણ્મૂલ નૌકાદોડ પણ આયોજીત કરવામાં આવે છે. મંદિરમાં 18મી સદીના ભીતચિત્રોનુ પણ ઐતિહાસિક સંગ્રહ છે.
અરણ્મૂલ શ્રી પાર્થસારથી મંદિર કેરલની વાસ્તુકલા શૈલીનો અદ્દભૂત નમૂનો છે. પાર્થસારથીની મૂર્તિ છ ફીટ ઉંચી છે. મંદિરની દિવાલો પર 18મી સદીની સુંદર નક્કાશી છે. મંદિર બહારની દિવાલોના ચાર ખૂણાના ચાર સ્તંભો પર બનેલુ છે. પૂર્વી સ્તંભ પર ચઢવા માટે 18 સીડીઓ છે અને ઉત્તરી સ્તંભથી ઉતરવા માટે 57 સીડીઓ છે જે પંપા નદી સુધી જાય છે.
મંદિરની પ્રતિમાની સ્થાપનાની વર્ષગાંઠના ઉપલક્ષ્યમાં દર વર્ષે 10 દિવસનો ઉત્સવ સુધી ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. આ ઉત્સવ મલયાલમ મહિનો મીનમમાં પડે છે.

ઓણમ(કેરલનો મુખ્ય તહેવાર) ના દરમિયાન અરણ્મૂલ મંદિર પોતાનુ પાણીના ઉત્સવને માટે લોકપ્રિય થઈ જાય છે. જેને અરણ્મૂલ વલ્લમ્કલી (અરણ્મૂલ વોટ રેસ) ના રૂપમાં ઓળખાય છે. નાવડીમાં ચોખા અને બીજી વસ્તુ મોકલવાની પ્રથા છે જેને નજીકના ગામમાં નજરાના સ્વરૂપે મોકલવામાં આવે છે જેને માનગઢ કહે છે જે તહેવારની ઉત્પત્તિથી સંબંધિત છે. આ પ્રથા આજે પણ ચાલુ છે. ઉત્સવની શરૂઆત કોડિયેટ્ટમ (ધ્વજારોહણ)થી થાય છે અને તેની સમાપ્તિ પર મૂર્તિની પંબા નદીમાં ડુબકી લગાવીને થાય છે જેને અરટ્ટૂ કહેવામાં આવે છે.
ગરુડવાહન ઈર્જુનલ્લાતુ, ઉત્સવ દરમિયાન નીકળનારી રંગારંગ શોભાયત્રા છે. જેમાં ભગવાન પાર્થસારથીને ગરુડ પર સજાવવામાં આવેલ હાથીઓની સાથે પંપા નદીના કિનારે લઈ જવામાં આવે છે. ઉત્સવના સમયે વલ્લા સદ્યા જે એક મહત્વપૂર્ણ વજિપાડૂ અર્થાત નજરાનુ હોય છે મંદિરને આપવામાં આવે છે.
ખંડાવનાદહનમ નામનુ એક બીજો ઉત્સવ મલયાલમ મહિનો ધનુપ્તમાં ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. ઉત્સા દરમિયાન મંદિરની સામે સૂકા છોડ, પાન અને છોડમાંથી જંગલનુ પ્રતિરૂપ બનાવવામાં આવે છે. પછી ખંડાવના (મહાભારતમાં લાગેલી જગલની આગ) ના પ્રતિક સ્વરૂપ સળગાવવામાં આવે છે. ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણનો જન્મદિવસ અષ્ટ્મીરોહીણીના રૂપમાં આ મંદિરમાં ઉજવવામાં આવે છે.
કેવી રીતે જશો ?
રોડ દ્વારા - અરણ્મૂલ પથાનમથિટ્ટાના જિલ્લા મુખ્યાલયથી 16 કિમીના અંતરે આવેલુ છે. જ્યાં પહોંચવા માટે બસ મળી રહે છે.
રેલ માર્ગ : અહીથી નજીકનુ રેલવે સ્ટેશન ચેનગન્નૂર છે. જ્યાંથી બસ દ્વારા 14 કિમીની યાત્રા ખેડી મંદિર સુધી પહોંચી શકાય છે.
હવાઈ માર્ગ : અહીંથી નજીકનુ હવાઈ મથક કોચ્ચિ છે. જે અરણ્મૂલથી 110 કિમી ના અંતરે આવેલુ છે.

ખંડાવનાદહનમ નામનુ એક બીજો ઉત્સવ મલયાલમ મહિનો ધનુપ્તમાં ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. ઉત્સા દરમિયાન મંદિરની સામે સૂકા છોડ, પાન અને છોડમાંથી જંગલનુ પ્રતિરૂપ બનાવવામાં આવે છે. પછી ખંડાવના (મહાભારતમાં લાગેલી જગલની આગ) ના પ્રતિક સ્વરૂપ સળગાવવામાં આવે છે. ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણનો જન્મદિવસ અષ્ટ્મીરોહીણીના રૂપમાં આ મંદિરમાં ઉજવવામાં આવે છે.
