જૂના સમયની વતા છે , કોઈ ગામમાં 6 આંધડા માણસ રહેતા હતા . એક દિવસ ગામવાળોએ એને જણાવ્યા કે ગામમાં હાથી આવ્યો છે.
તેમને આજ સુધી હાથી વિશે ઘણું સાંભળ્યું હતું પણ ક્યારે એને સ્પર્શીને અનુભવ કર્યો નહોતો.. તેથી તેમને નક્કી કર્યુ કે આપણે ભલે હાથીને જોઈ શકતા નથી પણ તેને સ્પર્શીને તેનો અનુભવ કરીશુ.. બધા એ સ્થાન પર ગયા જ્યાં હાથી આવ્યો હતો
બધાએ હાથીને અડવાનું શરૂ કર્યુ . હું સમજી ગયો હાથી એક થાંભલાની જેવો હોય છે , પહેલા માણસે હાથીના પગને હાથ લગાવતા કહ્યું ..
અરે નહી , હાથી તો દોરડા જેવો હોય છે " બીજા માણસે હાથીની પૂંછડી પકડતા કહ્યું.
"મારા મત મુજબ હાથી તો એક થડ જેવો હોય છે છું ત્રીજા માણસે હાથીની સૂંઢ પકડતા કહ્યું...
"તમે લોકો શું ફાલતુ વાતો બબડો છો, હાથી એક મોટા પંખાની જેમ હોય છે " ચોથા માણસે હાથીના કાન સ્પર્શીને કહ્યુ..
નહી નહી એ એક દીવાલની જેમ હોય છે , "પાંચમા માણસે હાથીના પેટ પર હાથ રાખતા બોલ્યો .
એવું નથી એ તો એક પાઈપની જેમ હોય છે છઠ્ઠા માણસે એની વાત રાખી અને પછી બધા પરસ્પર ચર્ચા કરવા લાગ્યા અને પોતાને સિદ્ધ કરવામાં લાગી ગયા.

એમનો વિવાદ ગરમા ગરમી પર પહોચી ગયો એ ઝગડવા લાગ્યા .
ત્યારે ત્યાંથી એક બુદ્ધિમાન માણસ પસાર થઈ રહ્યો હતો એને રોકાઈને બોલ્યો " શું વાત છે તમે બધા પરસ્પર કેમ ઝગડી રહ્યા છો ?
"અમે એ નક્કી નહી કરી શકી રહ્યા કે છેવટે હાથી કેવો દેખાય છે " તેઓ બોલ્યા અને પછી એક-એક કરીને બધાને પોતાનો અનુભવ જણાવ્યો..
બુદ્ધિમાન માણસે બધાની વાત શાંતિથી સાંભળી અને બોલ્યા " તમે બધા પોત-પોતાની જગ્યાએ સાચા છો તમારા વર્ણનમાં અંતર એ છે કે તમે બધાએ હાથીના જુદા-જુદા ભાગને સ્પર્શ કર્યો છે.
પણ જે વાતો તમે બધાએ હાથી વિશે કહી એ બધી સાચી છે.
શુ સાચેેજ ..? બધાએ એક સાથ જવાબ આપ્યો
એ પછી કોઈ વિવાદ થયો નહી અને બધા ખુશ થઈ ગયા કે એ બધા જ સાચુ કહી રહ્યા હતા
મિત્રો ઘણી વાર આપણે આપણી જ વાત પર અડી જઈએ છીએ કે આપણે સાચા છે અને બાકી બધા ખોટા છે.
પણ આ શક્ય છે કે આપણે સિક્કાની માત્ર એક જ બાજુ જોઈ હોય અને સિક્કાની બીજી બાજુ પણ હોઈ શકે.. બીજા તથ્યો પણ સત્ય હોઈ શકે છે.
આથી આપણે આપણી વાત તો કહેવી જોઈએ પણ સાથે સાથે તેટલા જ ધ્યાનથી બીજાની વાત પણ સાંભળવી જોઈએ અને ક્યારે પણ બેકારના વિવાદમાં પડવું જોઈએ નહી.
વેદોમાં પણ કહ્યુ છે કે એક સત્યને ઘણી રીતે જણાવી શકાય છે , જ્યારે બીજી વાર તમે કોઈ વિવાદમાં પડો તો યાદ કરી લેજો આ વાર્તા કે તમારા હાથમાં તો પૂછડી જ છે બીજા ભાગ બીજાના હાથમાં પણ હોઈ શકે છે.. !!
