૧૪ મી નવેમ્બરનો દિવસ સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં વર્લ્ડ ડાયાબિટીસ ડે તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે આ વર્ષ કોરોના મહામારી વચ્ચે ૨૦૨૦ના ડાયાબિટીસ ડે ની ઉજવણી “નર્સ ડાયાબિટીસ નો ભેદ સમજાવે” થીમ આધારીત કરવામાં આવી રહી છે. ડાયાબિટીસ દર્દીઓની સારવારથી લઇ સારસંભાળમાં નર્સનો સિંહફાળો રહ્યો છે.
કોરોના વાયરસ કોમોર્બિડ (ડાયાબિટીસ, બ્લડ પ્રેશર) જેવી અગાઉથી બિમારી ધરવતા લોકો માટે ગંભીર સાબિત થયો છે. ડાયાબિટીસ ધરાવતા દર્દીઓ ખાસ કરીને ૫૦ વર્ષથી વધારાની ઉમ્ર ધરાવતા દર્દીઓમાં કોરોનાનું સંક્રમણ થાય ત્યારે તેમને સાયનસનું ઇન્ફેક્શન થવાથી નાક અથવા આંખનો ભાગ ફંગલ ઇન્ફકેશન થી સંક્રમિત બનવાના કિસ્સાઓ બહાર આવ્યા છે જેને "મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસ" કહેવામાં છે. ડાયાબિટીસ દર્દીઓમાં મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસ (mucormycosis) કેમ સંવેદનશીલ છે તેના વિશે જાણીએ.

ડાયાબિટીસ ધરાવતા કોરોનાગ્રસ્ત અને સામાન્ય દર્દીઓ કે જેઓને નાક મા તકલીફ ઉભી થાય અને સુંગધ ન આવે તેવા દર્દીઓએ ઇ.એન.ટી. તબીબોની તપાસ અર્થે જવુ જોઇએ તેમ અમદાવાદ સિવિલના ઇ.એન.ટી. વિભાગના વડા ડૉ. બેલા પ્રજાપતિ કહે છે . તેઓ વિશેષમાં જણાવે છે કે સામાન્ય સંજોગોમાં અમદાવાદ સિવિલ હોસ્પિટલના ઇ.એન.ટી. વિભાગમાં મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસના ૧ થી ૨ દર્દીઓનો ધસારો મહીના દરમિયાન રહેતો. જ્યારથી કોરોના શરૂ થયો ત્યારથી અત્યાર સુધી અમદાવાદ સિવિલના ઇ.એન.ટી. વિભાગમાં કુલ ૩૦ દર્દીઓ આ બિમારીની સારવાર કરાવી ગયા છે જેઓની સર્જરી પણ કરવામાં આવી છે. મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસની સંવેદનશીલતા ટોચે પહોંચી જાય ત્યારે દર્દી સારવાર અર્થે આવે ત્યારે પહેલાથી જ સ્થિતિ વણસી ગયેલી હોવાના કારણે તેઓની સર્જરી કરવી જરૂરી બની રહે છે. જેથી આવા દર્દીઓએ સત્વરે સારવાર મેળવવી જોઇએ.
ઇ.એન.ટી. વિભાગના ડૉ. દેવાંગ ગુપ્તા કહે છે કે "કોરોના મહામારીમાં ડાયાબિટીસ ધરાવતા વયસ્ક દર્દીઓમાં કોરોના વાયરસના સંક્રમણ અને તેના બાદ સાયનસનું ઇન્ફેક્શન થાય તો તેને સાદુ ઇન્ફેક્શન ન ગણી શકાય. ડાયાબિટીસ ધરાવતા ઘણાય દર્દીઓમાં સુગરની માત્રા નિયંત્રણમા રહેતી નથી જેના કારણે ફંગસ થાય ત્યારે તે થ્રોમ્બોસીસમાં પરીણમે છે. એટલે કે શરીરના આંખ અથવા ચામડીના કોઇ ભાગને કાળુ કરી નાખે છે ત્યાં લોહીનું ભ્રમણ અટકી જાય છે .આવા પ્રકારના ઇન્ફકેશનને મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસ નામનું ફંગસનું સંવેદનશીલ ઇન્ફેકશન કહી શકાય."
આ ઇન્ફેકશનમાં સમયસર અને યોગ્ય નિદાન અત્યંત જરૂરી બની રહે છે.પ્રાથમિક તબક્કે એન્ટીબાયોટીક દવાઓ દ્વારા આને રોકવાના પ્રયત્નો કરવામાં આવે છે. જો ઇનફેકશન સંવદેનશીલ બની જાય તો તેનું ઝહેર આંખોમાં ફેલાય ત્યારે મોટા પ્રમાણમાં નુકસાન પહોંચાડે છે. દ્રષ્ટિ ગુમાવવાની પણ શક્યતાઓ પ્રબળ રહેલી છે. જે આગળ વધીને નાંકના માધ્યમથી મગજમાં પ્રસરીને ઇન્ફેકશન ફેલાઇ શકે છે જેના કારણે ઝેરી તાવ આવે છે જેનાથી દર્દીનું મૃત્યુ પણ નીપજી શકે છે. આ કારણોસર દર્દીને સમયસર સારવાર મળી રહે તે ખુબ જ જરૂરી છે.
ખેડબ્રહ્માના ઉંચીદલાલ ગામના અસ્મિતાબેન ચૌહાણને નાક વાટે ફંગસનું ઇન્ફેકશન વધી જતા તેમને આંખ પર સતત સોજો રહેતો હતો. ધીમે ધીમે તેઓ આખ થી કંઇપણ જોઇ શકવા માટે અશક્ત બની રહ્યા હતા. જે કારણોસર પરીવારજનો ચિંતાતુર બનીને તેમને ખેડબ્રહ્માની ખાનગી હોસ્પિટલમાં સારવાર અર્થે લઇ ગયા પરંતુ ત્યા નિદાન શક્ય ન બનતા તેઓએ અમદાવાદ સિવિલ હોસ્પિટલ લઇ જવા કહ્યું. સિવિલ હોસ્પિટલ લાવતા ખબર પડી કે અસ્મિતાબેનને ફંગસનું ગંભીર ઇન્ફેકશન થયુ છે જેને મ્યુકોરમાઇકોસીસ કહે છે જે નિયંત્રણ બહાર ફેલાઇ ગયુ હતુ જે કારણોસર તેમની સર્જરી કરવામાં આવી હાલ તેઓ સ્વસ્થ છે.
