ઇંગ્લૅન્ડના બૅટ્સમૅન સેટ થઈ રહ્યા હતા અને હજી તેઓ આક્રમક બન્યા ન હતા ત્યારે 11મી ઓવરમાં હાર્દિક પંડ્યાના બૉલ પર જેસન રોય પુલ કરવા ગયા, પરંતુ ચૂકી ગયા અને અમ્પાયરે વાઇડ બૉલનો ઇશારો કર્યો.

ભારતે કૅચની અપીલ કરી હતી પરંતુ અમ્પાયરે વાઇડ જાહેર કર્યા બાદ વિરાટ કોહલી રિવ્યૂ લઈ શકે તેમ હતા. જોકે, ધોનીએ રિવ્યૂ નહીં લેવાનો ઇશારો કર્યો હતો.

સામાન્ય રીતે આ પ્રકારના સંજોગોમાં ધોનીનો નિર્ણય ફાઇનલ ગણાતો હોય છે. એટલે જ તેને 'ધોની રિવ્યૂ સિસ્ટમ' (ડીઆરએસ-ડિસિઝન રિવ્યૂ સિસ્ટમ) કહેવામાં આવે છે.

કોહલી રિવ્યૂ લેવા માગતા હતા, પરંતુ ધોનીએ તેમ નહીં કરવાની સલાહ આપી અને ભારતે તક ગુમાવી કેમ કે, રિપ્લેમાં સ્પષ્ટ થયું હતું કે બૉલ જેસન રોયના ગ્લોવ્ઝને સ્પર્શીને ગયો હતો અને તેને આઉટ આપી શકાય તેમ હતો. અંતે રોયે 66 રન ફટકાર્યા હતા.

એક વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ત્રણ સદી, રોહિત ચોથો બેટ્સમૅન

રોહિત શર્માએ ઇંગ્લૅન્ડ સામે સદી ફટકારી તે સાથે તે એક જ વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ત્રણ કે તેથી વધુ સદી ફટકારનારા બૅટ્સમૅનની યાદીમાં સામેલ થઈ ગયા. અગાઉ ચાર બૅટ્સમૅને એક વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ત્રણ કે તેથી વધુ સદી ફટકારી હતી, જેમાં ભારતના સૌરવ ગાંગુલીનો પણ સમાવેશ થતો હતો.

શ્રીલંકાના કુમાર સંગાકરાએ 2015ના વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ચાર સદી નોંધાવી હતી.

એ સિવાય ત્રણ બેટ્સમૅને વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ત્રણ-ત્રણ સદી નોંધાવી છે, જેમાં સૌરવ ગાંગુલી (2003), માર્ક વો (1996) અને મેથ્યુ હેડન (2007)નો સમાવેશ થાય છે.

વર્લ્ડ કપમાં કોહલીની સળંગ પાંચમી અડધી સદી

ભારતીય ટીમના સુકાની વિરાટ કોહલી લગભગ દરેક મેચમાં કોઈને કોઈ રેકર્ડ નોંધાવતા હોય છે.

રવિવારે ઇંગ્લૅન્ડ સામે તેમણે 66 રન ફટકાર્યા હતા. આ સાથે તેમણે વર્લ્ડ કપની સળંગ પાંચ ઇનિંગ્સમાં પાંચ અડધી સદી ફટકારવાનો રેકર્ડ નોંધાવ્યો. 2015ના વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ઑસ્ટ્રેલિયન બૅટ્સમૅન સ્ટિવન સ્મિથે પાંચ મેચમાં પાંચ અડધી સદી નોંધાવી હતી. આમ વર્લ્ડ કપમાં સળંગ પાંચ અડધી સદી નોંધાવનારા કોહલી બીજા બૅટ્સમૅન બન્યા હતા.

વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ચહલ સૌથી મોંઘા ભારતીય બોલર

યુઝવેન્દ્રસિંહ ચહલે આ મૅચમાં 88 રન આપ્યા હતા. વર્લ્ડ કપમાં એક ઇનિંગ્સમાં સૌથી વધુ રન આપવાનો કંગાળ રેકર્ડ હવે તેમના નામે નોંધાયો છે. અગાઉ જવાગલ શ્રીનાથે 2003ના વર્લ્ડ કપની ફાઇનલમાં જોહાનિસબર્ગ ખાતે ઑસ્ટ્રેલિયા સામે એક ઇનિંગ્ઝમાં 87 રન આપ્યા હતા. વર્તમાન વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ભારતના બે સ્પિનર યુઝવેન્દ્રસિંહ ચહલ અને કુલદીપ યાદવે પ્રશંસનીય બૉલિંગ કરી છે, પરંતુ રવિવારનો દિવસ તેમના માટે સારો રહ્યો ન હતો.

ચહલને તો 88 રન આપવા છતાં એકેય વિકેટ મળી ન હતી, જ્યારે કુલદીપ યાદવને એક મહત્ત્વની સફળતા મળી હતી અને તેમણે ઓપનિંગ જોડીને તોડી હતી. જોકે, આ માટે ભારતને 23 ઓવર રાહ જોવી પડી હતી. કુલદીપ અને ચહલે મળીને 20 ઓવરમાં 160 રન આપી દીધા હતા.

જાડેજાનો અદભૂત કૅચ

રવીન્દ્ર જાડેજાને આ વર્લ્ડ કપમાં હજી સુધી એકેય મૅચ રમવાની તક મળી નથી, પરંતુ તેમને જ્યારે પણ ફિલ્ડિંગની તક મળે છે ત્યારે તેઓ છવાઈ જાય છે. જાડેજા ફિલ્ડિંગમાં ભારત માટે કમસે કમ 25-30 રન બચાવી આપે છે અને એકાદ કૅચ તો કરે જ છે. આ મૅચમાં પણ તેમણે આમ જ કર્યું હતું.

ભારતને પહેલી સફળતા અપાવવામાં કુલદીપ યાદવની બૉલિંગ કરતાં જાડેજાને અદભૂત કૅચનો ફાળો વધારે હતો.

જાડેજાએ પોતાની ડાબી તરફ દોડ લગાવ્યા બાદ બૉલ જમીન પર પડે તેના એકાદ ઇંચ પહેલાં ઉપાડી લીધો હતો. જાડેજાનો આ અદભૂત કૅચ યાદગાર બની રહ્યો હતો.

ઑરૅન્જ જર્સી ભારતને ફળી નહીં

ભારતીય ટીમના ખેલાડીઓએ વર્તમાન ટૂર્નામેન્ટમાં પહેલી વાર ઑરૅન્જ જર્સી પહેરી હતી. જોકે, પ્રારંભમાં આ જર્સી ફળી ન હતી, કેમ કે વર્લ્ડ કપ 2019માં પહેલી વાર ભારતીય ટીમને પરાજયનો સામનો કરવો પડ્યો હતો.

આ ઉપરાંત પહેલી વાર હરીફ ટીમની ઓપનિંગ જોડીએ ભારત સામે સદીની ભાગીદારી નોંધાવી હતી.

આ ઉપરાંત ભારતીય બૉલર્સ સામે કોઈ એક જોડીએ આ રીતે આક્રમક વલણ અપનાવીને રમી હોય તેમ પણ પહેલી વાર બન્યું હતું. 2003 બાદ પહેલી વાર વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ભારત સામે ઓપનર્સની સદીની ભાગીદારી જોની બેરસ્ટો અને જેસન રોયે પ્રારંભમાં કોહલી ઍન્ડ કંપની માટે ટેન્શન પેદા કરી દીધું હતું. બંનેએ ભારતના એકેય બૉલરને મચક આપી ન હતી અને સદીની ભાગીદારી નોંધાવી હતી.

હકીકતમાં 2003ના વર્લ્ડ કપ બાદ પહેલી વાર હરીફ ટીમના ઓપનર્સે ભારત સામે સદીની ભાગીદારી નોંધાવી હતી.

છેલ્લે 2003માં ઑસ્ટ્રેલિયાના એડમ ગિલક્રિસ્ટ અને મેથ્યુ હેડને ભારત સામે સેન્ચુરિયન અને જોહાનિસબર્ગ એમ બંને મૅચ (ફાઇનલ સહિત)માં સદીની ભાગીદારી નોંધાવી હતી. ત્યારબાદ 2007, 2011 અને 2015ના વર્લ્ડ કપ અને આ ટૂર્નામેન્ટની અગાઉની છ મૅચમાં કોઈ ઓપનિંગ જોડી ભારત સામે સદીની ભાગીદારી કરી શકી ન હતી.

આખરે રિશભ પંતને સ્થાન મળ્યું

શિખર ધવન ઑસ્ટ્રેલિયા સામેની મૅચમાં રમ્યા બાદ ઘાયલ થતા તેમને વતન પરત ફરવું પડ્યું હતું અને તેમને સ્થાને રિષભ પંતને ટીમમાં સામેલ કરાયા હતા પરંતુ તેમને મૅચ રમવાની તક પહેલી વાર મળી હતી. તેમણે પોતાની પસંદગી યોગ્ય ઠેરવીને આક્રમક રમત રમી હતી. પંતને ઇલેવનમાં સમાવવા માટે ભારતે કેટલીક મૅચ સુધી રાહ જોઈ તેની આકરી ટીકા થઈ રહી હતી.

ભારતના નિષ્ણાતો સુનીલ ગાવસ્કર અને સંજય માંજરેકર સહિત ઘણાએ પંતને નહીં સમાવવા બદલ ટીકા કરી હતી તો ઇંગ્લૅન્ડના ભૂતપૂર્વ સુકાની કેવિન પીટરસને તો પંતને એવી સલાહ આપી હતી કે તેમણે આરામ કરવો જોઈએ.

આ સંજોગોમાં પંતને સામેલ કરાતા ઘણાએ ભારતના આ નિર્ણયને આવકાર્યો હતો.

સળંગ ત્રણ મેચમાં શમીની ચારથી વધુ વિકેટ

મોહમ્મદ શમી આ વર્લ્ડ કપમાં ભારતના સફળ બૉલર રહ્યા છે. તે અત્યારે વર્લ્ડ કપના સફળ બૉલરમાં આવી ગયા છે.

આ મૅચમાં તેમણે પાંચ વિકેટ ઝડપી હતી. અગાઉની બે મૅચમાં તેમણે ચાર-ચાર વિકેટ લીધી હતી. આમ સળંગ ત્રણ મૅચમાં તેમણે ચારથી વધુ વિકેટ લીધી હતી.વન-ડે ઇતિહાસમાં કોઈ બૉલરે સળંગ ત્રણ મૅચમાં ચાર કે તેથી વધુ વિકેટ લીધી હોય તેવો આ 11મો પ્રસંગ હતો.

ભારત માટે અગાઉ નરેન્દ્ર હિરવાણીએ આ સિદ્ધિ હાંસલ કરી હતી. વન-ડે ક્રિકેટમાં આમ કરનારા હિરવાણી પ્રથમ બૉલર હતા.

દસ બૉલમાં એકેય રન નહીં

ભારત માટે રાહત લેવા જેવી બાબત પ્રથમ દસ ઓવર રહી હતી. આ દરમિયાન ઇંગ્લૅન્ડના બેટ્સમૅન ઝડપથી રન લઈ શકતા ન હતા. તેઓ આક્રમક બન્યા તે અગાઉ નવમી ઓવર જસપ્રિત બુમરાહે ફેંકી હતી જે મેડન રહી હતી.

પછીની ઓવરમાં પણ ચાર બૉલમાં એકેય રન આવ્યો ન હતો અને ઇંગ્લૅન્ડના ઓપનર્સ સળંગ દસ બૉલ સુધી એકેય રન લઈ શક્યા ન હતા.

10મી ઓવરમાં પાંચમા બૉલે તેમને એક રન લેવામાં સફળતા મળી હતી. જોકે, ત્યાર પછીની પાંચ ઓવરમાં ઇંગ્લૅન્ડે 50 રન ફટકારી દીધા હતા.
