રોટલીની સાઈઝ ફૂટપટ્ટીથી માપતા પતિ અને તેની પત્નીની કથા

પૂણેની એક મહિલાએ તેના પતિ પર શારીરિક અને માનસિક ત્રાસ આપવાનો આરોપ મૂકીને કોર્ટમાં છૂટાછેડા માટે અરજી કરી છે. મહિલાનો આક્ષેપ છે કે તેમના પતિએ તેમને માત્ર 20 સેન્ટીમીટરની રોટલી બનાવવા મજબૂર કરી હતી એટલું જ નહીં, એ ફૂટપટ્ટીથી રોટલી માપતા પણ હતા. રોટલીની સાઇઝ નાની-મોટી હોય તો તેની સજા મહિલાએ ભોગવવી પડતી હતી. એ ઉપરાંત તેણે રોજનાં કામોની નોંધ એક્સેલ શીટમાં કરવી પડતી હતી.

જોકે, પતિએ આ આક્ષેપોનો ઇનકાર કર્યો છે.

બીબીસી સાથેની વાતચીતમાં પાયલે (નામ બદલ્યું છે) તેમના પતિ અમિત (નામ બદલ્યું છે) પર મારપીટનો આરોપ પણ મૂક્યો હતો. પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "જમતી વખતે અમિત ફૂટપટ્ટી લઈને બેસતા હતા. રોટલી 20 સેન્ટીમીટરથી થોડી નાની કે મોટી હોય તો મને સજા કરવામાં આવતી હતી."

'સુહાગરાતથી જ ખરાબ વર્તન'

પાયલે જણાવ્યું હતું કે ક્યું કામ થઈ ગયું છે, ક્યું નથી થયું અને ક્યું કામ ચાલુ છે એ તેમણે એક્સેલ શીટમાં નોંધવું પડતું હતું. કામ પુરું ન થયું હોય તો તેનું કારણ પણ લખવું પડતું હતું. એ માટે એક્સેલ શીટમાં અલગ કોલમ બનાવવામાં આવી હતી. પતિ સાથે વાત કરવા માટે ઈમેલ કરીને તેમનો સમય લેવો પડતો હતો. પાયલ અને અમિતનાં લગ્ન 2008ના જાન્યુઆરીમાં થયાં હતાં. તેમને એક પુત્રી છે. પાયલે ઘરેલુ હિંસાનું કારણ આપીને છૂટાછેડા માગ્યા છે.

પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "એક દિવસ ગુસ્સામાં તેમણે તેમનું ડંબ બેલ કમ્પ્યુટર પર પટક્યું હતું. એ તૂટી ગયું હતું. મને એટલી જોરથી માર્યું હતું કે હું બેભાન થઈ ગઈ હતી."

"તેઓ મને બાથરૂમમાં લઈ ગયા હતા અને નળની નીચે બેસાડી દીધી હતી. હું ભાનમાં આવી ત્યારે તેમણે મને ફરીથી માર માર્યો હતો અને ઘરમાંથી કાઢી મૂકી હતી."

"હું ભીના વસ્ત્રોમાં મારા પિયર પહોંચી હતી. એ પહેલાં મારી હાલત વિશે મારાં મમ્મી-પપ્પા થોડુંક જાણતા હતાં, પણ એ દિવસે તેઓ સચ્ચાઈ જાણી ગયાં હતાં."

'સોશિઅલ મીડિયા પર મૂકી ગંદી પોસ્ટ'

પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "હારનો બદલો લેવા માટે મારા પતિ દર વખતે નવી તરકીબો શોધતા હતા. તેમણે મારું ઓર્કૂટ અકાઉન્ટ હેક કર્યું હતું અને તેમાં ગંદી-ગંદી પોસ્ટ મૂકી હતી કે હું ગંદી સ્ત્રી છું અને પતિને પરેશાન કરું છું."

"મને એ બધી ખબર ન હતી. મારા દોસ્તોએ મારાં મમ્મીને ફોન કરીને પૂછ્યું ત્યારે આ ખબર પડી હતી."

પાયલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ, તેમના ફેસબૂક અકાઉન્ટ પરથી પણ અમિતે બીજા લોકોને મેસેજ કર્યા હતા અને મારા ચારિત્ર્ય વિશે સવાલ ઉઠાવ્યા હતા. પોતાના સોશિઅલ અકાઉન્ટ્સના પાસવર્ડ્ઝ પાયલ પાસે ક્યારેય ન હતા.

'પૈસા કમાવાનું દબાણ'

પાયલે એવો આક્ષેપ પણ કર્યો છે કે અમિતે તેમને પૈસા કમાવવા માટે મજબૂર કર્યાં હતાં. પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "2009ના જાન્યુઆરીમાં મને નોકરી મળી હતી, પણ મંદીને કારણે અમિતની નોકરી ચાલી ગઈ હતી."

"અમિત આખો દિવસ ઘરમાં રહેતા હતા અને હું આખો દિવસ ઓફિસમાં. એ બાબતે અમારી વચ્ચે ઝઘડા થતા હતા."

"અમિત મને મારા ઘરવાળા સાથે વાત કરવા દેતો ન હતો. એપ્રિલમાં તેમને બીજી નોકરી મળી એટલે તેઓ દિલ્હી ચાલ્યા ગયા હતા. હું પૂણેમાં જ હતી."

પાયલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ, અમિતે 2010ના એપ્રિલમાં તેમને ચોક્કસ શરત પર દિલ્હી બોલાવી લીધાં હતાં. 2010ના ઓગસ્ટમાં તેમને એક અન્ય કંપનીમાં નોકરી મળી હતી.

એ પહેલાં પાયલ પ્રેગ્નન્ટ થયાં હતાં, પણ અમિતે બળજબરીથી ગર્ભપાત કરાવ્યો હતો.

પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "થોડા મહિના પછી હું ફરી પ્રેગ્નન્ટ થઈ ત્યારે અમિતે ફરીવાર અબોર્શનની જીદ પકડી હતી, પણ મેં મનાઈ કરી દીધી હતી."

"બાળકની બધી જવાબદારી મારી હશે એ શરતે અમિત ગર્ભપાત નહીં કરાવવા સહમત થયો હતો. ડિલિવરીના પંદર દિવસ પહેલાં સુધી હું ઓફિસે જતી હતી. તેમને મારી કોઈ દરકાર ન હતી."

પાયલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ, 2013માં એક દિવસે ઓફિસેથી ઘરે પાછા ફરવામાં તેમને મોડું થયું ત્યારે તેમની દીકરી રાતે દસ વાગ્યા સુધી ડે-કેર સેન્ટરમાં જ હતી.

અમિતે દીકરીને ઘરે લાવવાનું જરૂરી ગણ્યું ન હતું. એ પછી પાયલે નોકરી છોડી દીધી હતી.

'દીકરી પાછળ ચાકુ લઈને દોડતા'

પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "મેં નોકરી છોડી ત્યારથી મારી મુશ્કેલી વધી હતી. કારમાં સ્ક્રેચ પડ્યો છે કે નહીં, હવા ક્યારે ભરાવી હતી, કેટલું ઓઈલ નાખ્યું હતું વગેરેની અપડેટ રોજ આપવી પડતી હતી."

"દીકરીને કારમાં જ લઈ જવાનો નિયમ બનાવવામાં આવ્યો હતો. બહુ મારપીટ પછી પણ ટાસ્ક લિસ્ટ બંધ થયું ન હતું."

"હું કમાતી ન હતી એટલે નિયમોમાં વધારો થયો હતો. ભોજન બનાવવાથી માંડીને દીકરીના રમવા સુધીના નિયમો હતા."

"હું અમિતનું ધાર્યું ન કરું તો તેઓ દીકરીની પાછળ પડી જતા હતા. તેને હેરાન કરતા હતા. તેની પાછળ ચાકુ લઈને દોડતા હતા."

પાયલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ, દીકરીને સ્કૂલે મૂકવા જવાની હોય તો શું કરવાનું તેનું એક લિસ્ટ પણ દરવાજે ચિપકાવેલું હતું.

સવારે આઠ વાગીને દસ મિનિટે પાયલે આખું લિસ્ટ વાંચીને અમિતને જણાવવું પડતું હતું કે તેમણે બધાં કામ કરી નાખ્યાં છે. દીકરીને સ્કૂલે મૂકવા માટે અમિત બરાબર 8.11 વાગ્યે જ નિકળતા હતા. પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "અમિત સવારે નાસ્તો કરતા હોય ત્યારે મારે તેમની સામે નોટબૂક લઈને બેસવું પડતું હતું. એ જે બોલે એ બધું નોંધવું પડતું હતું."

"તેમનાં અન્ડરગાર્મેન્ટ્સ પણ એક ચોક્કસ જગ્યાએ રાખવાં પડતાં હતાં. ક્યારેક એ ભૂલાય જાય તો એ માટે પણ ઝઘડો કરતો હતો."

"અમિત ખર્ચ માટે મને ક્યારેય પૈસા આપતા ન હતા. પૈસા કમાવા માટે મેં કથ્થકના ક્લાસ લેવાનું શરૂ કર્યું હતું. તેનો હિસાબ પણ મારે અમિતને આપવો પડતો હતો."

"સગાંઓએ કહ્યું એટલે અમિતે મને ખર્ચ માટે દર મહિને 500 રૂપિયા આપવાનું શરૂ કર્યું હતું, પણ તેનો હિસાબ પણ તેઓ એક્સેલ શીટમાં રાખતા હતા."

"એક ભૂલ થાય તો એ 500 રૂપિયામાંથી કેટલાક રૂપિયા કાપી લેતા હતા. મને કંઈ ન મળ્યું હોય એવું ઘણીવાર થયું હતું."

રોજ રાતનો હતો આ નિયમ

પત્નીએ બીબીસીને ઈમેલ મારફત મોકલેલું ટાસ્ક લિસ્ટ. ઓળખ ગુપ્ત રાખવા નામ ચેકી નાખવામાં આવ્યાં છે.

પાયલના જણાવ્યા મુજબ, રોજ રાતે ભોજન બનાવીને બધું કામ પુરું કર્યા બાદ દીકરીને અમિતના હાથમાં આપીને હેન્ડઓવર કરવું પડતું હતું. આ નિયમ હતો.

પાયલે કહ્યું હતું, "એ દિવસ હું ભૂલી ગઈ તો અમિતે એ વાતે ઝઘડો કર્યો હતો. અમિતે કહ્યું હતું કે આ કારણે ઝઘડો થતો હોય તો હું દીકરીને નીચે ફેંકી દઈશ."

"અમે પાંચમા માળે રહેતા હતા. અમિત દીકરીને લઈને બાલ્કનીમાં ગયા હતા અને કહ્યું હતું કે હું દીકરીને નીચે ફેંકી દઈશ. મેં સોરી કહ્યું પછી માન્યા હતા."

પતિએ કહ્યુઃ બધા આરોપ છે ખોટા

પાયલના તમામ આરોપોને અમિતે ફગાવી દીધા હતા. વ્યવસાયે એન્જિનિયર અમિતે આક્ષેપ કર્યો હતો કે પાયલ ખોટું કહીને તેમની પાસેથી પૈસા પડાવવા માગે છે.

બીબીસી સાથે વાત કરતાં અમિતે કહ્યું હતું, "હું એક સારી કંપનીમાં કામ કરું છું. હું તેને ચોક્કસ કદની રોટલી બનાવવાનું કહેતો હતો એ વાત પાયા વિનાની છે."

"હું તમામ આરોપોનો ઇનકાર કરું છું. મેં પાયલને કોઈ બાબત માટે મજબૂર કર્યાં ન હતાં."

દરેક બાબતની ડેડલાઈન નક્કી કરવા બાબતે અમિતે કહ્યું હતું, "સમય માટે પાબંદ હોવામાં શું ખોટું છે? અમે બન્ને મળીને દરેક કામનો સમય નક્કી કરતાં હતાં. તેથી આસાની રહેતી હતી."

"કંઈ બાકી ન રહી જાય એટલા માટે અમે એવું કરતા હતા. હવે એ બાબતને હું તેને ત્રાસ આપતો હોઉં એવી રીતે જોવામાં આવી રહી છે એ મુશ્કેલી છે. મેં પાયલને ક્યારેય મેન્યુ આપ્યું ન હતું."

પાયલ અને અમિતનો કેસ હાલ કોર્ટમાં વિચારાધિન છે.

ભારતમાં ઘરેલુ હિંસાની ઘટનાઓ

દેશમાં મહિલાઓ વિરુદ્ધના અપરાધ અને ઘરેલુ હિંસાની ઘટનાઓમાં સતત વધારો થઈ રહ્યો છે. નેશનલ ક્રાઈમ રેકોર્ડ્ઝ બ્યુરો(એનસીઆરબી)ના 2016ના રિપોર્ટ અનુસાર, એક વર્ષમાં ઘરેલુ હિંસાની 1,10,378 ઘટનાઓ નોંધાઈ હતી. આ એવી ઘટનાઓ છે કે જેની ફરિયાદ નોંધાવવામાં આવી હતી. ઘણા કિસ્સામાં મહિલાઓ સમાજના ડર અને પોલીસના ખોફને કારણે ફરિયાદ નોંધાવતી નથી. એનસીઆરબીના રિપોર્ટ અનુસાર, મેટ્રોપોલિટન શહેરોમાં મહિલાઓ વિરુદ્ધના અપરાધની 2014માં 38,385, 2015માં 41,001 અને 2016માં 41,761 ઘટનાઓ નોંધાઈ હતી.

2016માં ઘરેલુ હિંસાની 12,218 ઘટનાઓ નોંધાઈ હતી.
