हर वर्ष होली का त्योहार बीत जाने के बाद आने वाली चैत्र माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की सप्तमी या अष्टमी तिथि को शीतला अष्टमी जिसे बसौड़ा भी कहा जाता है, मनाया जाता है। शीतला अष्टमी के 1 दिन पहले ही मां शीतला को भोग लगाने के लिए कई तरह के पकवान तैयार किए जाते हैं। इसके बाद अष्टमी पर मां को बासी भोग लगाकर उनको भोग लगाया जाता है। बसौड़ा का पर्व उत्तर भारत के कई राज्यों में विशेषकर राजस्थान में धूमधाम के साथ मनाया जाता है।
यह रहेगा शीतला अष्टमी तिथि और पूजा मुहूर्त 2020 :
शीतला अष्टमी जिसे बसौड़ा, लसौड़ा या बसियौरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है,
चैत्र मास की कृष्ण पक्ष की सप्तमी-अष्टमी को है। इस बार यह पर्व सोमवार, 16 एवं मंगलवार, 17 मार्च 2020 को है। शीतला अष्टमी इस बार 16 मार्च (सोमवार) को है। अष्टमी तिथि की शुरुआत 16 मार्च को तड़के 3.19 बजे से हो रही है। इसका समापन 17 मार्च को सुबह 2.59 बजे होगा। शीतला माता का आशीर्वाद पाने के लिए सप्तमी और अष्टमी दोनों दिन व्रत किया जाता है।
समझें शीतला अष्टमी व्रत का महत्व :
शीतला अष्टमी व्रत की आराधना का तरीका एकदम अलग होता है। शीतलाष्टमी के दिन पहले यानी सप्तमी तिथि पर कई तरह के पकवान बनाए जाते हैं, फिर अष्टमी तिथि पर बासी पकवान देवी को चढ़ाया जाता है। मान्यता है कि इस पर्व पर भोजन नहीं बनता बल्कि उसी चढ़े हुए बासी भोग को प्रसाद के रूप में ग्रहण किया जाता है। इसके पीछे तर्क यह है कि इस समय से ही बसंत की विदाई होती है और ग्रीष्म का आगमन होता है, इसलिए अब यहां से आगे हमें बासी भोजन से परहेज करना चाहिए।

इस मंत्र के जप से करें मां शीतला की आराधना : 'ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं शीतलायै नम:'
वन्देऽहंशीतलांदेवीं रासभस्थांदिगम्बराम्।
मार्जनीकलशोपेतां सूर्पालंकृतमस्तकाम्।।
अर्थात मैं गर्दभ पर विराजमान, दिगंबरा, हाथ में झाडू तथा कलश धारण करने वाली, सूप से अलंकृत मस्तक वाली भगवती शीतला की वंदना करता हूं। इस वंदना मंत्र से यह पूर्णत: स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि ये स्वच्छता की अधिष्ठात्री देवी हैं। हाथ में झाडू होने का अर्थ है कि हम लोगों को भी सफाई के प्रति जागरूक होना चाहिए। कलश में सभी 33 करोड़ देवी-देवताओं का वास रहता है, अत: इसके स्थापन-पूजन से घर-परिवार में समृद्धि आती है।
देवी मां शीतला की पूजा चैत्र मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि को करने का विधान है। इस पर्व पर शीतला माता का व्रत एवं पूजन किया जाता है। भगवतीस्वरूपा मां शीतलादेवी की आराधना अनेक संक्रामक रोगों से मुक्ति प्रदान करती है।
प्रकृति के अनुसार शरीर निरोगी हो इसलिए भी शीतला अष्टमी का व्रत करना चाहिए। लोकभाषा में इस त्योहार को बसौड़ा भी कहा जाता है। कई जगहों पर शीतला को चेचक नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इसके अलावा उत्तर भारत में शीतला सप्तमी को बसौड़ा, लसौड़ा या बसियौरा भी कहा जाता है।
स्वास्थ्य रक्षा का संदेश छिपा है पूजा में :
भगवती शीतला की पूजा-अर्चना का विधान भी अनोखा होता है। शीतलाष्टमी के 1 दिन पूर्व उन्हें भोग लगाने के लिए विभिन्न प्रकार के पकवान तैयार किए जाते हैं। अष्टमी के दिन बासी पकवान ही देवी को नैवेद्य के रूप में समर्पित किए जाते हैं।
लोक मान्यता के अनुसार आज भी अष्टमी के दिन कई घरों में चूल्हा नहीं जलाया जाता है और सभी भक्त खुशी-खुशी प्रसाद के रूप में बासी भोजन का ही आनंद लेते हैं। इसके पीछे तर्क यह है कि इस समय से ही बसंत की विदाई होती है और ग्रीष्म का आगमन होता है इसलिए अब यहां से आगे हमें बासी भोजन से परहेज करना चाहिए।
शीतला माता के पूजन के बाद उस जल से आंखें धोई जाती हैं। यह परंपरा गर्मियों में आंखों का ध्यान रखने की हिदायत का संकेत है। माता का पूजन करने के बाद हल्दी का तिलक लगाया जाता है। घरों के मुख्य द्वार पर सुख-शांति एवं मंगल-कामना हेतु हल्दी के स्वास्तिक बनाए जाते हैं। हल्दी का पीला रंग मन को प्रसन्नता देकर सकारात्मकता को बढ़ाता है और भवन के वास्तु दोषों का निवारण होता है।
मां की वंदना रखेगी रोगमुक्त :
मां की अर्चना का स्तोत्र स्कंद पुराण में शीतलाष्टक के रूप में मिलता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस स्तोत्र की रचना स्वयं भगवान शंकर ने जनकल्याण में की थी। शीतलाष्टक शीतला देवी की महिमा का गान करता है, साथ ही उनकी उपासना के लिए भक्तों को प्रेरित भी करता है। इस दिन माता को प्रसन्न करने के लिए शीतलाष्टक पढ़ना चाहिए।
मां का पौराणिक मंत्र 'हृं श्रीं शीतलायै नम:' भी प्राणियों को सभी संकटों से मुक्ति दिलाते हुए समाज में मान-सम्मान दिलाता है। मां के वंदना मंत्र में भाव व्यक्त किया गया है कि शीतला स्वच्छता की अधिष्ठात्री देवी हैं।
मान्यता है कि नेत्र रोग, ज्वर, चेचक, कुष्ठ रोग, फोड़े-फुंसियों तथा अन्य चर्म रोगों से आहत होने पर मां की आराधना रोगमुक्त कर देती है। यही नहीं, माता की आराधना करने वाले भक्त के कुल में भी यदि कोई इन रोगों से पीड़ित हो तो ये रोग-दोष दूर हो जाते हैं। इन्हीं की कृपा से मनुष्य अपना धर्माचरण कर पाता है। बिना शीतला माता की कृपा के देहधर्म संभव नहीं है।
इनकी उपासना से जीवन में सुख-शांति मिलती है।
देवी मां शीतला की प्रसन्नता से व्रती के कुल में दाहज्वर, पीतज्वर, विस्फोटक, दुर्गंधयुक्त फोड़े, नेत्रों के विभिन्न रोगों, शीतला की फुंसियों के चिह्न तथा शीतलाजनिक रोगों से मुक्ति मिलती है।
*शीतला सप्तमी का व्रत और मां शीतला का पूजन लोग परिवार के स्वास्थ्य और खुशियों की उम्मीदों के साथ करते हैं।
* जीवन में सभी तरह के ताप से बचने के लिए मां शीतला का पूजन सर्वोत्तम उपाय माना गया है।
* मां शीतला के हाथों में कलश, सूप, मार्जन (झाडू) तथा नीम के पत्ते होते हैं।
* इन सभी वस्तुओं का प्रतीकात्मक महत्व है।
* चेचक के रोगी को व्यग्रता होने पर सूप से हवा दी जाती है। झाडू से चेचक के फोड़े फट जाते हैं। नीम के पत्ते फोड़ों को सड़ने नहीं देते। रोगी को ठंडा जल अच्छा लगता है तो कलश की उपयोगिता है।
* स्कंदपुराण में मां शीतला की अर्चना के लिए शीतलाष्टक स्तोत्र है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इसकी रचना भगवान शंकर ने लोकहित में की थी।
* शीतला माता का पूजन वर और वधू दांपत्य जीवन में प्रवेश से पहले भी करते हैं। हल्दी लगने से पहले लड़का और लड़की जो माता पूजन करते हैं, उसमें शीतला माता की ही पूजा की जाती है।
* परंपराओं में गणेश पूजन से भी पहले मातृका पूजन किया जाता है।
* मां की पूजा करने के पीछे मान्यता यही है कि उससे दांपत्य में प्रवेश करने जा रहे वर और वधू के जीवन खुशहाल बना रहे।
* जब विवाह से पूर्व वर या वधू मां की पूजा के लिए जाते हैं, तो उस समय भी उनके ऊपर कपड़ा या चूनर से छांव कर दी जाती है और इसका अर्थ है कि ताप से जीवन की कोमलता नष्ट न हो।
*स्वच्छता की प्रतीक शीतला मां :
शास्त्रों में शीतला देवी का वाहन गर्दभ बताया गया है। मां का स्वरूप हाथों में कलश, सूप, मार्जन (झाडू) तथा नीम के पत्ते धारण किए हुए चित्रित किया गया है। हाथ में मार्जनी होने का अर्थ है कि हम सभी को सफाई के प्रति जागरूक होना चाहिए। सूप से स्वच्छ भोजन करने की प्रेरणा मिलती है, क्योंकि ज्यादातर बीमारियां दूषित भोजन करने से ही होती हैं। किसी भी रूप में नीम का सेवन हमें संक्रामक रोगों से मुक्त रखता है। कलश में सभी 33 कोटि देवताओं का वास रहता है अत: इसके स्थापन-पूजन से वास्तु दोष दूर होते हैं एवं घर-परिवार में समृद्धि आती है।
ऐसे करें मां शीतला की पूजा :
इस दिन महिलाएं सुबह 4 बजे उठकर माता शीतला की पूजा करती हैं। सप्तमी के दिन महिलाएं मीठे चावल, हल्दी, चने की दाल और लोटे में पानी लेकर पूजा करती हैं। शीतला सप्तमी के दिन सुबह सबसे पहले स्नान करने के बाद शीतला माता का पूजन करें। पूजा के वक्त 'हृं श्रीं शीतलायै नम:' का उच्चारण करते रहें। माता को भोग में रात के बने गुड़ वाले चावल चढ़ाएं। व्रत में इन्हीं चावलों को ग्रहण करें।
ऋतु परिवर्तन के समय शीतला माता का व्रत और पूजन करने का विधान है। शीतला माता का सप्तमी एवं अष्टमी को पूजन करने से दाहज्वर, पीतज्वर, दुर्गंधयुक्त फोड़े, नेत्र के समस्त रोग तथा ऋतु परिवर्तन के कारण होने वाले रोग नहीं होते। यदि आप व्रत रखने में सक्षम न हों तो मां को बाजड़ा अर्थात गुड़ और रोट अर्पित करने से भी कर सकते हैं प्रसन्न। इसके अतिरिक्त माता की कथा श्रवण अवश्य करें तत्पश्चात आरती करें।
शीतला माता की कथा
एक गांव में एक स्त्री रहती थी, जो शीतलाष्टमी (बासोड़ा) की पूजा करती और ठंडा भोजन लेती थी। एक बार गांव में आग लग गई। उसका घर छोड़कर बाकी सबके घर जल गए। गांव के सब लोगों ने उससे इस चमत्कार का रहस्य पूछा। उसने कहा कि मैं बासोड़ा के दिन ठंडा भोजन लेती हूं और शीतला माता का पूजन करती हूं। आप लोग यह कार्य तो करते नहीं हैं। इससे मेरा घर नहीं जला और आप सबके घर जल गए।
तब से बासोड़ा के दिन सारे गांव में शीतला माता का पूजन आरंभ हो गया।
माना जाता है कि शीतला माता भगवती दुर्गा का ही रूप हैं। चैत्र महीने में जब गर्मी प्रारंभ हो जाती है, तो शरीर में अनेक प्रकार के पित्त विकार भी होने लगते हैं। शीतलाष्टमी का व्रत करने से व्यक्ति के पीत ज्वर, फोड़े, आंखों के सारे रोग, चिकनपॉक्स के निशान व शीतलाजनित सारे दोष ठीक हो जाते हैं।
इस दिन सुबह स्नान करके शीतला देवी की पूजा की जाती है।
इसके बाद 1 दिन पहले तैयार किए गए बासी खाने का भोग लगाया जाता है। यह दिन महिलाओं के विश्राम का भी दिन है, क्योंकि इस दिन घर में चूल्हा नहीं जलाया जाता। इस व्रत को रखने से शीतला देवी खुश होती हैं। इस दिन के बाद से बासी खाना नहीं खाया जाता। यह ऋतु का अंतिम दिन है, जब बासी खाना खा सकते हैं।
