देवी लक्ष्मी को धन और समृद्धि प्रदान करने वाली देवी माना जाता है। मान्यता है कि माता लक्ष्मी के मंदिर में जाकर पूजन-अर्चन करने से आर्थिक संकट समाप्त हो जाता है। खासकर शुक्रवार को यहां जाना चाहिए। महालक्ष्मी और लक्ष्मी के कई प्राचीन और प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है। उनमें से ही जानते हैं 10 की जानकारी।
1. पद्मावती का मंदिर : तिरुपति के पास तिरुचुरा नामक एक छोटा-सा गांव है। इस गांव में देवी पद्मावती का सुंदर मंदिर है। यह मंदिर 'अलमेलमंगापुरम' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। लोक मान्यता है कि तिरुपति बालाजी के मंदिर में मांगी मुराद तभी पूरी होती है, जब श्रद्धालु बालाजी के साथ-साथ देवी पद्मावती का आशीर्वाद भी ले लें।
2. दक्षिण भारत का स्वर्ण मंदिर : भारतीय राज्य तमिलनाडु के जिले वेल्लू में स्थित थिरुमलई कोड गांव श्रीपुरम में स्थित महालक्ष्मी मंदिर को 'दक्षिण भारत का स्वर्ण मंदिर' कहा जाता है। 100 एकड़ में फैला यह मंदिर चेन्नई से 145 किलोमीटर दूर पलार नदी के किनारे स्थित है।
3. पद्मनाभस्वामी मंदिर : पद्मनाभस्वामी मंदिर केरल के तिरुअनंतपुरम् में मौजूद भगवान विष्णु का प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है, लेकिन यहां से अपार मात्रा में 'लक्ष्मी' की प्राप्ति हुई थी। यह मंदिर अपने सोने के खजाने के लिए विश्वभर में प्रसिद्ध है। भगवान विष्णु को समर्पित पद्मनाम मंदिर को त्रावणकोर के राजाओं ने बनाया था। इसका जिक्र 9वीं शताब्दी के ग्रंथों में भी आता है, लेकिन मंदिर के मौजूदा स्वरूप को 18वीं शताब्दी में बनवाया गया था।
4. मुंबई का महालक्ष्मी मंदिर : समुद्र के किनारे बी. देसाई मार्ग पर स्थित यह मंदिर अत्यंत सुंदर, आकर्षक और लाखों लोगों की आस्था का प्रमुख केंद्र है। ज्ञात इतिहास के अनुसार इस महालक्ष्मी मंदिर की स्थापना अंग्रेजों के काल में हुई। उस समय देवी लक्ष्मी एक ठेकेदार रामजी शिवाजी के स्वप्न में प्रकट हुईं और उन्हें समुद्र तल से देवियों की 3 प्रतिमाएं निकालकर मंदिर में स्थापित करने का आदेश दिया। मंदिर के गर्भगृह में महालक्ष्मी, महाकाली एवं महासरस्वती तीनों देवियों की प्रतिमाएं एकसाथ विद्यमान हैं।

5. कोल्हापुर का महालक्ष्मी मंदिर : कोल्हापुर महाराष्ट्र का एक जिला है। कहा जाता है कि यहां स्थित महालक्ष्मी मंदिर का निर्माण चालुक्य शासक कर्णदेव ने 7वीं शताब्दी में करवाया था। इसके बाद शिलहार यादव ने 9वीं शताब्दी में इसका पुनर्निर्माण करवाया था।
मंदिर के मुख्य गर्भगृह में देवी महालक्ष्मी की लगभग 40 किलो की प्रतिमा स्थापित है जिसकी लंबाई लगभग 4 फीट की है। कहा जाता है कि यहां की लक्ष्मी प्रतिमा लगभग 7,000 साल पुरानी है।
6. लक्ष्मीनारायण मंदिर : दिल्ली के प्रमुख मंदिरों में से एक लक्ष्मीनारायण मंदिर को मूल रूप में 1622 में वीरसिंह देव ने बनवाया था, उसके बाद पृथ्वीसिंह ने 1793 में इसका जीर्णोद्धार कराया। इसके बाद सन् 1938 में भारत के बड़े औद्योगिक परिवार बिड़ला समूह ने इसका विस्तार और पुनरुद्धार कराया जिसके बाद इसे बिड़ला मंदिर भी कहा जाता है।
7. इंदौर का महालक्ष्मी मंदिर : इंदौर शहर के हृदयस्थल राजवाड़ा की शान कहे जाने वाले श्री महालक्ष्मी मंदिर के संबंध में कहा जाता है कि इस मंदिर का निर्माण 1832 में मल्हारराव (द्वितीय) ने कराया था। 1933 में यह 3 तलों वाला मंदिर था, जो आग के कारण तहस-नहस हो गया था। 1942 में मंदिर का पुनः जीर्णोद्धार कराया गया था। वर्तमान में मुंबई के महालक्ष्मी मंदिर की तर्ज पर इस मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार करके इसे भव्य रूप दिया गया है।
8. चौरासी मंदिर : यह मंदिर हिमाचल प्रदेश के चंबा से 65 किलोमीटर दूर भरमौर जिला नगर में स्थित है। यहां महालक्ष्मी के साथ गणेशजी और नरसिंह भगवान की मूर्ति भी स्थित है। प्राकृतिक वादियों में बसा यह मंदिर ऐतिहासिक और धार्मिक दृष्टि से बहुत महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है।
9. चंबा का लक्ष्मीनारायण का मंदिर : हिमाचल के चंबा में स्थित यह मंदिर पारंपरिक वास्तुकारी और मूर्तिकला का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। चंबा के 6 प्रमुख मंदिरों में यह मंदिर सबसे विशाल और प्राचीन है। भगवान विष्णु को समर्पित यह मंदिर राजा साहिल वर्मन ने 10वीं शताब्दी में बनवाया था। यह मंदिर शिखर शैली में निर्मित है।
10. अष्टलक्ष्मी मंदिर : चेन्नई के इलियट समुद्र तट के पास स्थित यह मंदिर लगभग 65 फीट लम्बा और 45 फीट चौड़ा है। मंदिर में देवी लक्ष्मी के आठ स्वरूप 4 मंजिल में बने 8 अलग-अलग कमरों में स्थापित है। इस मंदिर में देवी लक्ष्मी अपने पति और भगवान विष्णु के साथ मंदिर की दूसरी मंजिल में विराजित है।
