સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટે આજે ત્રણ તલાક પર મુખ્ય નિર્ણય સંભળાવતા તેને અસંવૈધાનિક બતાવ્યો અને તેને દેશમાં ખતમ કરવાનુ એલાન કર્યુ.. જો કે 5 માંથી 3 જજ એ ત્રણ તલાક ખોટો કરાર આપ્યો... આ મામલાની સુનાવણી કરી રહેલ પાંચ જજ વિશે સૌથી ખાસ વાત એ છે કે પાંચેય જજ જુદા જુદા ધર્મ સાથે સંબંધિત છે... પ્રધાન ન્યાયાધીશ ખેહર ઉપરાંત પીઠમાં ન્યાયમૂર્તિ કુરિયન જોસેફ,, ન્યાયમૂર્તિ યૂ યૂ લલિત અને ન્યાયમૂર્તિ એસ અબ્દુલ નજીરનો સમાવેશ છે.

2. જસ્ટિસ કુરિયન જોસફ - જસ્ટિસ જોસફ ક્રિશ્ચિયન છે અને કેરલના છે. 1979માં તેમને કેરલ હાઈકોર્ટમાં વકાલત શરૂ કરી. 2000માં કેરલ હાઈકોર્ટના જજ બનેલ અને આ હાઈકોર્ટમાં બે વાર કાર્યકારી ચીફ જસ્ટિસ બન્યા. 2010-13 દરમિયાન હિમાચલ પ્રદેશના ચીફ જસ્ટિસ રહેલા અને આઠ માર્ચ 2013ના રોજ સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટના જજ બન્યા. જસ્ટિસ જોસફ 29 નવેમ્બર 2018ના રોજ રિટાયર થશે.

3. રોહિંગ્ટન ફલી નરીમન - નરીમન પારસી છે. 1956માં જન્મેલા નરીમન માત્ર 37 વર્ષની વયમાં જ સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટના સીનિયર કાઉંસિલ બન્યા. જોકે એ સમયે આ પદ માટે ઓછામાં ઓછા 45 વર્ષની વય હોવી જરૂરી હતી પણ જસ્ટિસ વેંકટચેલૈયાના નરીમન માટે નિયમોમાં સંશોધન કર્યુ. નરીમનને પશ્ચિમી શાસ્ત્રીય સંગીતમાં રસ છે અને તેના સારા માહિતગાર છે.

4. જસ્ટિસ ઉદય ઉમેશ લલિત - 1957 માં જન્મેલા જસ્ટિસ લલિત હિન્દુ ધર્મ સાથે સંબંધ છે.. જસ્ટિસ લલિતે 1983માં બોમ્બે હાઈકોર્ટથી વકાલત શરૂ કરી. એપ્રિલ 2004માં સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટના સીનિયર એડવોકેટ બન્યા. તેઓ 2જી મામલાના સીબીઆઈની તરફથી વિશેષ અભિયોજક રહ્યા. 2014 માં સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટના જજ બન્યા. જસ્ટિસ લલિત 2022માં રિટાયર થશે.

5. જસ્ટિસ એસ અબ્દુલ નજીર - 1958માં જન્મેલા જસ્ટિસ નજીર મુસ્લિમ છે. તેમણે 1983માં કર્ણાટક હાઈ કોર્ટમાં વકાલત શરૂ કરી. 2003માં કર્ણાટક હાઈકોર્ટના અતિરિક્ત જજ બન્યા અને તેના બીજા જ વર્ષે સ્થાયી જજ બન્યા. આ વર્ષ ફેબ્રુઆરીમાં સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટના જજ નિયુક્ત થયા.
