आजकल सेल्फी का बहुत प्रचलन हो गया है। कहीं भी कोई उपयुक्त स्थान या अवसर दृष्टिगोचर होते ही युवाओं से लेकर प्रौढ़ तक सेल्फी लेने का लोभ संवरण नहीं कर पाते। मीठी स्मृतियों को सहेज कर रख लेने में कोई बुराई भी नहीं। लेकिन क्या किसी के मन में कभी यह विचार आता है कि कभी अपने मन की भी सेल्फी लें? देखें कि वहां कौन-कौन से भावों का साम्राज्य विस्तार पा रहा है ? किन भावों की कमी है और किन का अभाव है ? फिर यह भी कि वे भाव हमें मानवता के निकट ले जा रहे हैं अथवा उससे दूर कर रहे हैं ?
सच तो यह है कि हम अपने 'बाह्य' को तो खूब सजा- संवारकर रखते हैं और सेल्फी के माध्यम से उसे दुनिया को दिखाकर प्रशंसा भी पाना चाहते हैं। लेकिन 'आंतर' को निखारने पर दृष्टि कम ही जाती है। जबकि वही समाज में हमारी प्रतिष्ठा का मूल आधार है।
सोच कर देखिए कि आप एक मानवीय सद्गुणों से रहित अत्यंत खूबसूरत व्यक्ति के साथ रह कर सुखी होंगे अथवा इन गुणों से संपन्न औसत शक्ल सूरत के बंदे के साथ अपना हित पाएंगे। बेशक, दूसरी कोटि के मनुष्य ही आपके चयन में प्रथम वरीयता पाएंगे।

वस्तुतः बाह्य रूप-रंग ईश्वर या प्रकृति की देन है, लेकिन आंतरिक गुण या अवगुण मनुष्य का स्वयं का निर्माण है। वह चाहे तो सद्गुणी बने अथवा दुर्गुणों की राह पकड़े। ये तय है कि जो अच्छाई के मार्ग पर चलेगा, जगत् उसी की प्रशंसा के गीत गाएगा और बुराई की राह पर चलने वाले लोकनिंदा के ही पात्र बनेंगे। इसलिए उचित तो यही है कि अपने तन के साथ-साथ मन की भी सेल्फी समय-समय पर लेते चलें। देखते रहें कि मन के कहने पर हम क्या और कितना अच्छा कर रहे हैं और कहां चूक रहे हैं ? अपने माता-पिता के प्रति, संतान के प्रति और समाज के प्रति दायित्व निर्वाह समुचित ढंग से कर पा रहे हैं ?पति-पत्नी अपने संबंधों में कितनी आत्मीयता और ईमानदारी को जी रहे हैं ? कहीं कुछ ऐसा तो नहीं हो रहा , जिससे कोई आहत होता हो?
बढ़ती भौतिकता और विकास के इस चमकीले दौर में घटती नैतिकता और पतन के किस्से निरंतर प्रकाश में आ रहे हैं। मशीनी युग में भावनाएं भी यंत्रवत् होने लगी हैं। संपत्ति के लिए अपनी ही संतान के हाथों कत्ल हो जाने वाले अभिभावक, घरेलू हिंसा का चरम झेलती पत्नियां, गुरु का सर्वोच्च दर्जा पाए शिक्षकों से अमानवीय प्रताड़ना झेलते छात्र, बलात्कार का दंश झेलती मासूम अबोध बच्चियां, स्वार्थ की अति में जनहित की सदैव बलि चढ़ाते राजनेता हमारे समाज में अब आम बात होने लगे हैं।

ऐसे खेदजनक परिदृश्य में क्या मन की सेल्फी लेना जरूरी नहीं है ? मन की सेल्फी अर्थात् आत्ममंथन। हम कौन थे , क्या हो गए हैं और क्या होंगे अभी-यह हम सभी के विचार-विमर्श का सर्वोपरि मुद्दा होना चाहिए। वह भौतिक प्रगति कभी विकास का सही पैमाना नहीं मानी जा सकती,जो नैतिकता से रहित हो। हम भले ही अपने अथक प्रयासों से विकसित राष्ट्रों की श्रेणी में स्थान पा लें,लेकिन जब तक आंतरिक शुचिता की दृष्टि से विपन्न रहेंगे, पिछड़े ही कहे जाएंगे क्योंकि वह प्रगति समाज को समृद्ध बनाएगी, सुखी नहीं। सुख तो सदैव भीतर की निर्मलता से आता है।
हम अंदर से जितने मानवीय होंगे, बाहर से उतनी ही सत्कर्मों की गंगा बहेगी और यही गंगा राष्ट्र की आत्मा को तृप्त करेगी और विश्व में हमारा मान बढ़ाएगी।
तो आइए आज हो जाए एक सेल्फी अपने मन की। बस, शर्त यही है कि सेल्फी जैसी भी आए,आप पहले उसे आत्मजल से धोएंगे और तब संपूर्ण दुनिया को दिखाएंगे। संभवतः यह नई शुरुआत ही एक दिन वह मील का पत्थर बन जाए,जहां से हर नई संतति अपनी सेल्फी लेकर अपने जीवन को सदा-सदा के लिए प्रकाशित कर लेगी और उन्नति के नए प्रतिमान गढ़ेगी।
