सबसे पहले श्रीनगर के लाल चौक की बात करें। कल्पना ही नहीं थी कि लाल चौक भी अपने इंदौर के राजवाड़ा जैसा भरा-पूरा चहल-पहल वाला बाजार है, जहां गाड़ी पार्क करने की जगह के अलावा जरूरत की हर चीज मिल जाती है। तारीफ की बात यह भी है कि जब श्रीनगर के इस राजवाड़ा पर हमने खाऊ ठिये की तलाश की तो हमें शक्ति स्वीट्स पर गरमागरम समोसे और जलेबियां भी मिल गईं। ड्राय फ्रूट की दुकानें भी वहां काफी हैं।

अखरोट की गिरी वहां एकदम नर्म और सफेद निकलती है, जो खाने में काफी स्वादिष्ट लगती है। वैसे इंदौर फोन लगाकर ड्रायफ्रूट के भाव पता किए तो श्रीनगर में ज्यादा थे। केशर भी इंदौर से अधिक महंगी थी। हां ए ग्रेड ताजा रसभरे सेब सिर्फ 40 रुपए किलो थे। सिंघाड़ा, जो हमारे यहां 50-60 रुपए किलो मिलता है, उसके भाव सुनकर चौंक जाना पड़ा- 600/- रुपए प्रति किलो! 50 ग्राम खाकर तृप्त हुए।
तापमान ने श्रीनगर के पिछले 10-15 बरस के रिकॉर्ड तोड़ दिए। वहां इंदौर जैसी कड़क धूप निकली हुई थी। सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पूरे कश्मीर में चुस्त-दुरुस्त दिखी। कहीं भी देखने को नहीं मिला कि कोई जवान चाय की दुकान पर खड़ा टाइम पास कर रहा हो।
श्रीनगर पहुंचने पर फेरी वाले तथा हिल स्टेशन पहुंचने पर घोड़े वाले पर्यटकों को इस तरह घेर लेते हैं, जैसे कि प्रसिद्ध धर्मस्थलों पर पंडे। ठीक मोलभाव करने पर 100 रुपए की वस्तु 20-30 रुपए में मिल जाती है। हाथ से कशीदाकारी की गई शॉलें तथा लेडीज सूट बहुतायत से मिलते हैं। आर्टिफिशियल ज्वेलरी बेचने वाले पर्यटकों के पीछे हाथ धोकर पड़ जाते हैं और कुछ न कुछ बेचकर ही पीछा छोड़ते हैं।
इस मौसम में कश्मीर में बर्फ चाहे न मिले पर पूरी घाटी अथाह हरियाली लिए हुए मनोरम फूलों से लदी हुई है। पथरीली राह पर कल-कल बहते सफेद झरनों की सुंदरता देखते ही बनती है। शालीमार बाग, निशात बाग, शाही बाग काफी खूबसूरत हैं। गुलमर्ग में ठंड ठिठुराने वाली मिली। यहां गंडोले की सैर करना भी काफी रोमांचक है। पहलगाम सबसे अच्छा और सुंदर लगा। वहां ऑफ सीजन होने से होटल काफी सस्ते हैं।

डल लेक के हाउस बोट में 2 रात बिताना बहुत सुखद रहा। एक तो होटल के मुकाबले इनका किराया काफी कम होता है, दूसरे बेडरूम के अलावा अलग डायनिंग व ड्राइंग रूम घर जैसा माहौल देता है। खाना भी होटल के मुकाबले बहुत उम्दा होता है। डल लेक पहले जैसी साफ तो नहीं, पर बहता हुआ पानी नहीं होने के बावजूद वहां कोई बदबू नहीं थी जिसके बारे में हम डर रहे थे। दूर तक फैले अथाह जल के बावजूद मच्छर वहां एक भी नजर नहीं आया।
एक विशेष बात यह भी रही कि अलसुबह हाउस बोट पर नींद खुलने पर 'ओम नम: शिवाय' का जाप काफी देर तक सुनाई देता रहा।
यहां डल लेक के बाच ही एक बड़ा मार्केट है, जहां पानी के बीच दुकानों की लाइन लगी हुई है। मात्र 300 रुपए चुकाकर 3-4 घंटे की शिकारों की सैर के साथ यहां जाया जा सकता है। शिकारों की यह सैर काफी शानदार होती है। इस सैर के दौरान आपको चलते-फिरते खाऊ ठिये जैसे कुल्फी, स्नेक्स आदि मिल जाते हैं। वाजिब कीमत पर वहां खरीदने लायक काफी कुछ है।
इंदौर से सीधे श्रीनगर एवं वापसी की फ्लाइट काफी सस्ती तथा समय बचाने वाली साबित हुई। वापसी में एयरपोर्ट पर जबरदस्त और तारीफेकाबिल सिक्योरिटी का इंतजाम है। 3 जगह से चेकिंग से गुजरना पड़ता है। खाने के बैग लगेज में भेज दिए गए। आधी बोतल पीने का पानी स्वयं से चखवाकर ले जाने दिया गया। विक्स इन्हेलर इन्हेल करवाकर देखा गया।
अंत में सभी कश्मीरवासियों का एक ही संदेश था कि अधिक से अधिक सैलानी कश्मीर में आएं और यह कि किसी भी सैलानी को कश्मीर में कोई तकलीफ नहीं होगी।
सैलानियों को हरसंभव खुश रखने के प्रयास में हर कश्मीरवासी की जुबान से एक ही तकियाकलाम सुनाई देता रहा कि 'कोई बात नहीं या कोई दिक्कत नहीं।' वाकई लंबे-चौड़े बजट के बावजूद विकास की दौड़ में पिछड़े और आतंक की मार सहते कश्मीरी अवाम का जज्बा बस यही कहता लगता है कि 'कोई दिक्कत नहीं'!
