टेस्ट क्रिकेट मैच में टीम इंडिया के सबसे सफल कोच नहीं हैं रवि शास्त्री, जानिए क्यों...

नई दिल्ली। भारतीय टीम के वर्तमान मुख्य कोच रवि शास्त्री फिर से इस पद के प्रमुख दावेदार माने जा रहे हैं लेकिन अगर आंकड़ों पर गौर करें तो उन्हें विशेषकर टेस्ट क्रिकेट में वैसी सफलता नहीं मिली जिस तरह से उनके पूर्ववर्ती अनिल कुंबले और गैरी कर्स्टन ने हासिल की थी।

भारतीय टीम के मुख्य कोच और अन्य सहयोगी स्टाफ के लिए आवेदन की अंतिम तिथि मंगलवार को समाप्त हो गई जिसमें शास्त्री के अलावा टॉम मूडी, रोबिन सिंह, माहेला जयवर्धने, लालचंद राजपूत, न्यूजीलैंड के पूर्व कोच माइक हेसन आदि दावेदार हैं।

शास्त्री का कार्यकाल विश्व कप के बाद 45 दिन के लिए बढ़ाया गया है। उनकी यह कोच के रूप में भारतीय टीम के साथ दूसरी पारी थी जिसमें उन्हें अपेक्षित सफलता मिली। इससे पहले वे टीम निदेशक भी रहे थे। उनके इन दोनों कार्यकालों में भारत विश्व कप में खेला था लेकिन 2015 और अब 2019 में उसे नाकामी हाथ लगी थी।

शास्त्री के दोनों कार्यकालों में भारत ने कुल मिलाकर 29 टेस्ट मैच खेले जिनमें से 16 में उसे जीत मिली और 8 में हार जबकि बाकी 5 मैच ड्रॉ रहे थे। इस दौरान भारत ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया से पहली बार उसकी सरजमीं पर श्रृंखला जीती। वनडे में उनका अब तक का रिकॉर्ड 79 मैच में 52 जीत और 24 हार तथा टी-20 अंतरराष्ट्रीय में 54 मैच में 36 जीत और 17 हार रहा।

टेस्ट मैचों में हालांकि शास्त्री से बेहतर रिकॉर्ड कुंबले का रहा है जिन्हें कप्तान कोहली के साथ 'अस्थिर' संबंधों के कारण 1 साल में अपना पद छोड़ना पड़ा था। कुंबले के कोच रहते हुए भारत ने 17 टेस्ट मैच खेले जिसमें से 12 में उसे जीत मिली और उसने केवल 1 मैच ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ (पुणे) में गंवाया था।

भारत ने इस बीच इंग्लैंड, न्यूजीलैंड, बांग्लादेश और ऑस्ट्रेलिया को हराया। इस बीच भारत ने हालांकि केवल 13 वनडे (8 जीत, 5 हार) और 5 टी-20 अंतरराष्ट्रीय (2 जीत, 2 हार) ही खेले।

लेकिन 1990 के बाद भारतीय क्रिकेट में कोच रखने की परंपरा के बाद अगर भारत के सबसे सफल कोच का जिक्र होगा तो उसमें गैरी कर्स्टन का नाम सबसे ऊपर रहेगा जिनके रहते हुए भारत ने 2011 में विश्व कप जीता था तथा टेस्ट मैचों में भी टीम ने लगातार अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया था।

कर्स्टन के कोच रहते हुए भारत ने 33 टेस्ट मैच खेले जिसमें से 16 में उसे जीत और 6 में हार मिली जबकि 11 मैच ड्रॉ रहे थे। उनकी जीत-हार का प्रतिशत 65.15 है, जो कि शास्त्री (63.79) से बेहतर है। कुंबले (82.35 प्रतिशत) इस मामले में इन दोनों से काफी आगे हैं।

भारत को कर्स्टन की मौजूदगी में 93 वनडे में से 59 में जीत और 29 में हार मिली थी। वनडे में यह किसी भी कोच का सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन है। भारत के पहले विदेशी कोच जॉन राइट के रहते हुए भारत ने 130 वनडे मैचों में से 68 जीते थे लेकिन इस बीच 56 में उसे हार भी मिली थी।

राइट और सौरव गांगुली का तालमेल भी कर्स्टन और महेंद्र सिंह धोनी की जोड़ी जैसा ही बेहतर था। भारत ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ जब 2001 में कोलकाता में ऐतिहासिक टेस्ट मैच जीता था तो राइट ही कोच थे। उनकी उपस्थिति में भारत ने 52 टेस्ट मैचों में से 21 में जीत दर्ज की थी, 15 मैचों में उसे हार मिली जबकि बाकी 16 मैच ड्रॉ रहे थे।

राइट के बाद कोच बनने वाले ग्रेग चैपल का युग भारतीय क्रिकेट में विवादों के लिए अधिक जाना जाता है। आंकड़े भी कहते हैं कि तब भारतीय टीम अपेक्षित प्रदर्शन नहीं कर पाई थी। 18 टेस्ट मैच में 7 जीत, 4 हार और 7 ड्रॉ तथा 62 वनडे में 32 जीत और 27 हार को संभवत: चैपल भी पसंद नहीं करेंगे। भारत उनके रहते हुए विश्व कप 2007 के पहले दौर में बाहर हो गया था।

कर्स्टन के बाद कोच की जिम्मेदारी संभालने वाले डंकन फ्लैचर के कार्यकाल में भी भारतीय टीम का प्रदर्शन उतार-चढ़ाव वाला रहा। इस दौरान भारत ने 33 टेस्ट मैच खेले जिनमें से उसे 13 में जीत और 15 में हार मिली। भारत ने तब जो 83 वनडे खेले, उनमें से उसने 47 जीत और 29 हार जबकि टी-20 अंतरराष्ट्रीय में उसका रिकॉर्ड 24 मैच में 15 में जीत और 9 में हार रहा।

इस बीच बीच में कुछ समय के लिए लालचंद राजपूत और संजय बांगड़ ने भी कोच की जिम्मेदारी संभाली थी। भारत में कोच रखने की परंपरा 1990 में शुरू हुई थी और तब से लेकर अब तक भारत ने 15 कोच देखे हैं।

इनमें बिशन सिंह बेदी, अब्बास अली बेग, अजित वाडेकर, संदीप पाटिल, मदन लाल, अंशुमन गायकवाड़ और कपिल देव ने राइट से पहले यह भूमिका निभाई थी। कपिल अभी कोच चयन के लिए बनी क्रिकेट सलाहकार समिति के अध्यक्ष और गायकवाड़ उसके सदस्य हैं। (भाषा)
