हनुमानजी का प्रताप चारों युगों में रहा है और आगे भी रहेगा, क्योंकि वे अजर-अमर हैं। उन्हें अमरत्व का वरदान मिला हुआ है। वे जब तक चाहें शरीर में रहकर इस धरती पर मौजूद रह सकते हैं। सिर्फ इस बात के लिए ही हनुमान चालीसा का आधुनिक दुनिया में महत्व नहीं बढ़ जाता है बल्कि इसलिए कि पूरे ब्रह्मांड में हनुमानजी ही एकमात्र ऐसे देवता हैं जिनकी भक्ति से हर तरह के संकट तुरंत ही हल हो जाते हैं और यह एक चमत्कारिक सत्य है।
हनुमान चालीसा को महान कवि तुलसीदास जी ने लिखा था हनुमान चालीसा से पहले भी हनुमानजी पर कई चालीसा लिखी गई और कई स्तुतियां भी लिखी गई थीं लेकिन हनुमान चालीसा का महत्व इसीलिए आधुनिक युग में है क्योंकि यह पढ़ने और समझने बहुत ही सरल है और यह भी कि इस चालीसा में हनुमानजी के संपूर्ण चरित्र का वर्णन हो जाता है जिससे उनकी भक्ति करने में आसानी होती है।
हनुमानजी की भक्ति के लिए आप कुछ भी पढ़ें लेकिन हनुमान चालीसा सच में ही अपने आप में एक संपूर्ण रामचरित मानस की तरह है। हनुमान चालीसा लिखने वाले तुलसीदासजी राम के बहुत बड़े भक्त थे। उनके इसी विश्वास के कारण औरेंगजेब ने उन्हे बंदी बना लिया था। कहते हैं कि वहीं बैठकर उन्होंने हनुमान चालीसा लिखा था। अंत में ऐसे कुछ हुआ कि औरंगजेब को उन्हें छोड़ना पड़ा था।
इसमें 40 छंद होते हैं जिसके कारण इसको चालीसा कहा जाता है। यदि कोई भी इसका पाठ करता है तो उसे चालीसा पाठ बोला जाता है। आधुनिक युग की भागमभाग में हनुमान चालीसा ही एक ऐसा पाठ है जिसे तुरंत ही आसानी से पढ़ा जा सकता है, लेकिन उसके लिए हनुमानजी की भक्ति होना जरूरी है।
हिंदू धर्म में हनुमान चालीसा का बड़ा ही महत्व है। इस चालीसा को पढ़ते रहने से व्यक्ति के मन में साहस, आत्मविश्वास और पराक्रम का संचार होता है। इसके कारण ही वह संसार पर विजय प्राप्त कर लेता है।
इसके एक एक छंद का बहुत महत्व है जैसे-
1.बच्चे का पढ़ाई में मन ना लगे तो उसको इस छंद का पाठ करना चाहिए- बल बुधि बिद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार।
2.मन में अकारण भय हो तो निम्न पंक्ति पढ़ना चाहिए- भूत पिशाच निकट नहीं आवे महावीर जब नाम सुनावे।
3.किसी भी कार्य को सिद्ध करना हो तो यह पंक्ति पढ़ें- भीम रूप धरि असुर सँहारे, रामचन्द्र के काज सँवारे।
4.बहुत समय से यदि बीमार हैं तो यह पंक्ति पढ़ें- नासै रोग हरे सब पीरा, जपत निरन्तर हनुमत बीरा।
5.प्राणों पर यदि संकट आ गया हो तो यह पंक्ति पढ़ें- संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा, जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा।
या संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै, मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै
6.यदि आप बुरी संगत में पड़े हैं और यह संत छुट नहीं रही है तो यह पढ़ें- महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी, कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी
7.यदि आप किसी भी प्रकार के बंधन में हैं तो- जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई, छूटहि बन्दि महा सुख होई।
8.किसी भी प्रकार का डर है तो यह पढ़ें- सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना, तुम रक्षक काहू को डरना।
9.आपके मन में किसी भी प्रकार की मनोकामना है तो पढ़ें- और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै, सोई अमित जीवन फल पावै।
