जैन धर्म के 24वें तीर्थंकर भगवान महावीर स्वामी के गर्भ कल्याणक दिवस पर भगवान महावीर की अष्टद्रव्य से पूजा-अर्चना करके अभिषेक किया जाएगा। साथ ही विश्व की सुख-समृद्धि एवं शांति की मंगलमयी कामना करते हुए शांतिधारा तथा गर्भ कल्याणक का अर्घ्य भी चढ़ाया जाएगा।

भगवान महावीर के जन्म से पूर्व एक बार महारानी त्रिशला नगर में हो रही अद्भुत रत्नवर्षा के बारे में सोच रही थीं। यह सोचते-सोचते वे ही गहरी नींद में सो गई। उसी रात्रि को अंतिम प्रहर में महारानी ने 16 शुभ मंगलकारी स्वप्न देखें। वो आषाढ़ शुक्ल षष्ठी का दिन था। रानी त्रिशला ने गर्भस्थिति में यह मंगलकारी शुभ स्वप्न देखें। सुबह जागने पर रानी के महाराज सिद्धार्थ से अपने स्वप्नों की चर्चा की और उसका फल जानने की इच्छा प्रकट की।
राजा सिद्धार्थ एक कुशल राजनीतिज्ञ के साथ ही ज्योतिष शास्त्र के भी विद्वान थे। उन्होंने रानी से कहा कि एक-एक कर अपना स्वप्न बताएं। वे उसी प्रकार उसका फल बताते चलेंगे। तब महारानी त्रिशला ने अपने सारे स्वप्न उन्हें एक-एक कर विस्तार से सुनाएं।
