इंदौर। स्वच्छता में नंबर एक का तमगा हासिल करने वाले इंदौर शहर में घर-घर से कचरा उठाने वाली गाड़ियों से जहां एक ओर 'इंदौर नंबर वन है' गूंज रहा है, वहीं रहवासी हड्डी तोड़ बुखार से कराह रहे हैं। एक अनुमान के मुताबिक, इंदौर में ढाई लाख से ज्यादा लोग रहस्यमय बुखार से पीड़ित हैं।
शहर के डॉक्टर भी इस बीमारी को लेकर असमंजस की स्थिति में हैं। कुछ जहां इसको वायरल बुखार मान रहे हैं, वहीं कुछ इसे चिकनगुनिया जैसा वायरल बुखार मान रहे हैं। होलकर विज्ञान महाविद्यालय के पूर्व प्राचार्य डॉ. राम श्रीवास्तव का तो यहां तक मानना है कि शहर में फैल रहा बुखार ज़ीका हो सकता है। इसको लेकर उन्होंने प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान को भी पत्र लिखा है। डॉ. श्रीवास्तव का कहना है कि यदि ज़ीका है तो राज्य में मेडिकल इमरजेंसी लगा देना चाहिए।
उल्लेखनीय है कि इंदौर के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में 120 से ज्यादा चिकनगुनिया के मामले सामने आए हैं, जिनमें से 35 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। अकेले इंदौर में यह संख्या 20 से ज्यादा है, जबकि शहर में ही 25 लाख से ज्यादा बुखार के मरीजों का आंकड़ा है। बड़ी संख्या में मरीजों की जांच में इस बात का खुलासा नहीं हो पाया कि वे किस वायरस का शिकार हैं। इस संबंध में डॉ. श्रीवास्तव का मानना है कि इस बात को लेकर रिसर्च होना चाहिए कि कहीं यह अज्ञात वायरस ज़ीका तो नहीं है।

प्रशासन की सुस्ती से नाराज लोगों का मानना है कि यदि समय रहते प्रशासन ने इस ओर ध्यान दिया होता तो हालात इतने बदतर नहीं होते। विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि इंदौर में चिकनगुनिया, डेंगू, ज़ीका आदि बीमारियों की जांच के लिए लैब होना चाहिए क्योंकि कई बार ऐसा होता है कि जब तक जांच सामने आती है, तब तक मरीज दुनिया से विदा हो चुका होता है।

शहर के डॉक्टरों को भी इस बात की शिकायत है कि जब नगर निगम के अधिकारियों से शहर में फैल रही बीमारियों के बारे में बात करनी चाही तो उन्होंने मिलने का ही वक्त नहीं दिया। इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष डॉ. संजय लोंढे के मुताबिक, शहर में 20 से 30 फीसदी लोग इस बीमारी या इससे होने वाले प्रभावों की चपेट में हैं।
एक जानकारी यह भी सामने आई है कि इस बार निगम की ओर से टीफा मशीन से फोगिंग भी नहीं कराई गई। यदि ऐसा भी कराया होता तो बीमारी का आंकड़ा इस हद तक ऊपर नहीं पहुंचता। टीफा मशीन की फोगिंग से डेंगू, मलेरिया, चिकनगुनिया आदि के मच्छर मर जाते हैं, लेकिन इस बार स्वच्छता के बावजूद बीमारी का आंकड़ा अन्य वर्षों की तुलना में ज्यादा है। साथ ही लोगों में बुखार के जो लक्षण सामने आ रहे हैं, वे चिकनगुनिया और ज़ीका से मिलते-जुलते ही हैं।
