ईसाइयों की बहुलता के कारण क्रिसमस के समय गोवा में बहुत सारे सांस्कृतिक आयोजन होते हैं जिनका आनंद लेने के लिए पर्यटक इस समय विशेष तौर पर गोवा आते हैं और यह रौनक 31st दिसंबर तक गोवा में बनी रहती हैं।

गोवा की रचना भगवान परशुराम ने की थी। उन्होंने अपने बाणों से समुद्र को कई योजन पीछे धकेल दिया था। आज भी गोवा के कई स्थानों के नाम वाणावली, वाणस्थली इत्यादि हैं। उत्तरी गोवा में हरमल के पास भूरे रंग का एक पर्वत है। इसे परशुराम के यज्ञ करने का स्थान माना जाता है। ऐतिहासिक दृष्टि से गोवा के बारे में सबसे पहले महाभारत में लिखा गया था। उस समय गोवा का नाम 'गोपराष्ट्र' यानी 'गाय चराने वाले का देश' हुआ करता था। माना जाता है कि गोवा, 'गोपराष्ट्र' का ही अपभ्रंश है।
गोवा राज्य प्रमुखत: 3 भागों में बंटा हुआ है- (1) पणजी या पंझिम, (2) मडगांव और (3) वास्को डी गामा।
यह एक ऐसा राज्य है जिसका नाम सुनते ही याद आता है दूर-दूर तक फैला समुद्र का किनारा, आधुनिक जीवनशैली, थिरकते कदम और काजू से बनी लाजवाब फेणी। लेकिन गोवा सिर्फ यहीं तक सीमित नहीं। हो-हल्ले के इस राज्य में कई ऐसे बेहतरीन रिसॉर्ट्स हैं, जहां लोग शांति की तलाश में भी आते हैं। यहां सिर्फ खूबसूरत इलाके ही नहीं, बल्कि पर्यटन से जुड़ी हर तरह की सुविधाएं भी हैं। यहां जगह-जगह पर ट्रैवल एजेंसियों के छोटे-छोटे दफ्तर बने हुए हैं, जो पर्यटकों को गोवा के सारे इलाकों की सैर कराते हैं। यहां की सेवाएं इतनी उम्दा हैं कि देशी तो क्या, विदेशी पर्यटकों को भी किसी तरह की तकलीफ नहीं होती। इसीलिए इसे 'पर्यटकों का शहर' भी कहा जाता है। यहां के लोगों की आधिकारिक भाषा कोंकणी हैं।
गोवा जाने का सबसे बेहतरीन समय अक्टूबर से मार्च तक का होता है। इस मौसम में यहां बहुतायत में पर्यटक आते हैं। जून से सितंबर तक यहां बहुत अधिक वर्षा होने के कारण इस मौसम में यहां पर्यटक कम ही आते हैं। न्यू ईयर की पार्टी के लिए खासतौर पर गोवा को विशेष और आकर्षक स्थल माना जाता है। इसलिए आप भी न्यू ईयर पार्टी का मजा लेने के लिए गोवा जा सकते हैं।
आपका बजट कैसा हो? : गोवा एक ऐसा राज्य है, जहां का पर्यटन आपकी जेब के मुताबिक बदलता रहता है। यहां आप 5-10 हजार से लेकर 5 लाख तक जैसा चाहे वैसा बजट बना सकते हैं। यहां सस्ते होटलों से लेकर महंगे रिसॉर्ट तक सब उपलब्ध हैं। वैसे यदि आप गोवा पीक सीजन में घूमने जा रहे हैं तो बुकिंग पहले से करवा लें, क्योंकि आखिरी समय में बुकिंग आपको महंगी पड़ सकती है, साथ में मन-मुताबिक हर चीज ना भी मिले। और क्रिसमस, न्यू ईयर पर यहां सबसे ज्यादा रश होता है।
आप कहां ठहरें? : गोवा पर्यटन विभाग ने समुद्र किनारे-किनारे अनेक टूरिस्ट होम और हट बना रखे हैं, इसके साथ ही बेड सुविधा भी उपलब्ध है। साथ ही कई सस्ते से महंगे हर बजट के होटल्स और रिसॉर्ट्स भी उपलब्ध हैं।
यदि आप गोवा जाने की सोच रहे हैं तो किसी भी ट्रैवल एजेंसी से अग्रिम टिकट ले लें ताकि गोवा पहुंचने के दूसरे ही दिन से गोवा की सैर शुरू हो जाए। अच्छा होगा कि आप अपने सफर की शुरुआत (उत्तरी) नॉर्थ गोवा से करें और दूसरे दिन पहुंच जाएं पणजी के लिए एलथीनो हिल।

गोवा कैसे पहुंचे?
हवाई मार्ग-
मुंबई, दिल्ली, बेंगलुरु, कोचिन और तिरुअनंतपुरम से गोवा के लिए सीधी उड़ानें हैं।
पणजी से 26 किलोमीटर दूर (दक्षिणी) साउथ गोवा में स्थित डाबोलिम राष्ट्रीय व अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ानों का हवाई अड्डा है। विदेशी पर्यटकों के लिए मुंबई प्रमुख हवाई अड्डा है। वैसे गोवा के लिए सीधी अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ानें भी हैं।
सड़क मार्ग-
मुंबई से बस या टैक्सी से गोवा पहुंच सकते हैं। अन्य शहरों से भी गोवा सड़क मार्ग से जुड़ा है।
रेलमार्ग-
