सात प्रसिद्ध लोग जिन्होंने जेल में रचा इतिहास

जेल का नाम कुछ नकारात्मकता लिए हुए रहता है। जेल जाने वाले इंसान को अपराधी समझा जाता है। परंतु कुछ ऐसे प्रसिद्ध लोग हैं जिनकी प्रसिद्धि की असली वजह जेल में बिताया गया वक्त और उसी दौरान किया गया काम है। इनमें दुनिया के सबसे बेहतरीन कवि, लेखक, आर्टिस्ट, संगीतकार और राजनेता शामिल हैं। आइए जानते हैं ऐसी ही शख्सियतों के बारे में जिन्होंने जेल में रहते हुए अपने समय का बेहतरीन इस्तेमाल किया...

1. ओ हेनरी : अगर आप भी शॉर्ट स्टोरी (छोटी कहानियों) के शौकिन हैं तो आप ओ हेनरी को जरूर जानते होंगे। ओ हेनरी उर्फ विलियम सिडनी पोर्टर को 25 मार्च 1898 को गबन के आरोप में जेल भेजा गया था। उन्हें जेल के हॉस्पीटल विंग में अलग से कमरा मिला क्योंकि वह दवाईयों के जानकार थे और फार्मिसिस्ट थे। उन्होंने इसी दौरान अलग अलग नामों से कई कहानियां लिखीं। इसी दौरान उन्होंने ओ हेनरी नाम अपनाया।

2. जवाहरलाल नेहरू : भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू को उनकी लेखन काबिलियत के लिए हमेशा जाना जाएगा। उन्हें ब्रिटिशराज के दौरान 1942-46 में जेल भेज दिया गया था। इसी दौरान उन्होंने डिस्कवरी ऑफ इंडिया (भारत एक खोज) जैसी अनूठी किताब लिखी। इसमें भारत की संस्कृति और विविधता का विस्तृत वर्णन है।

3. ऑस्कर वाइल्ड : अंग्रेजी लेखन के इतिहास में ऑस्कर वाइल्ड एक महान नाम हैं। उन्हें होमोसेक्सुएलिटी (आदमियों के साथ संबंध)के आरोप में जेल भेज दिया गया था। इस दौरान ऑस्कर वाइल्ड ने अपने पार्टनर के नाम बेहतरीन खत लिखे। इन पत्रों की स्टाइल प्रेम से भरी हुई थी और बाद में बहुत पसंद की गई।

4. मार्टिन लूथर किंग जुनियर : अफ्रीका के सिविल राइट्स मूवमेंट का सबसे बड़ा नाम, मार्टिन लूथर किंग जुनियर ने प्रसिद्ध 'लेटर फ्रॉम बिर्मिघम जेल' से लिखे। 'द निग्रो इस योर ब्रदर' (निग्रो तुम्हारा भाई है) इतिहास में दर्ज हो गया। इस खत ने अफ्रीकन-अमेरिकन लोगों के विरोध की हिंसा न करने के फैसले का महत्व बताया। इसके तहत अमेरिकन लोगों से सही का साथ देने की अपील की गई।

5. मिग्युएल डे सेर्वंटेंस : वे लोग जो इन्हें नहीं जानते उनके लिए, मिग्युएल डे सेर्वंटेंस कला के क्षेत्र के कुछ सबसे खास नामों में शामिल है।

डॉन क्वीजोटे को इसी स्पेनिश राइटर ने 1600 में लिखा था। इसे लिखने में उन्हें पूरे 10 साल लगे। इस नॉवेल का बड़ा हिस्सा जेल में लिखा गया था जहां यह लेखक तुर्क लोगों द्वारा दी गई जेल की सजा भुगत रहा था।

6. अडोल्फ हिटलर : अडोल्फ हिटलर ने अगर काफी समय जेल में बिताया होता तो शायद वह बहुत बड़े लेखक के तौर पर उभरते। दुनिया के सबसे अधिक डरावने शासकों में से एक, हिटलर ने अपनी जीवनी 'माय स्ट्रगल' जेल में लिखी। यह हिटलर ने हेस को डिक्टेट कर लिखी थी। इसमें हिटलर की राजनैतिक समझ और जर्मनी के भविष्य के बारे में लिखा गया था।

7. महात्मा गांधी : महात्मा गांधी जेल के अंदर बाहर होते रहे। जब भी वे जेल में रहे उन्होंने इसका भरपूर लाभ उठाया। इसमें 1932 का साल सबसे अधिक महत्वपूर्ण रहा। गांधीजी ने भूख हड़ताल शुरू की। वह ब्रिटिश सरकार के भारत में जाति के अनुसार चुनाव कराने के फैसले का विरोध कर रहे थे। यह भूख हड़ताल 6 दिन चली। अंत में ब्रिटिश सरकार को अपना फैसला बदलना पड़ा।
