विजया दशमी पर शमी पेड़ क्यों पूजा जाता है?

भारतीय संस्कृति में प्रत्येक पर्व का अपना एक अलग महत्व है। हर एक पर्व हमें यह संदेश देता है कि हम जीवन को किस प्रकार समृद्ध बना सकते हैं। विजयादशमी पर रावण दहन के बाद कई प्रांतों में शमी के पत्ते को सोना समझकर देने का प्रचलन है,तो कई जगहों पर इसके वृक्ष की पूजा का प्रचलन। आइए जानते हैं क्यों पूजनीय है यह वृक्ष।

अश्विन मास के शारदीय नवरात्र में शक्ति पूजा के नौ दिन बाद दशहरा अर्थात विजयादशमी का पर्व मनाया जाता है। असत्य पर सत्य की विजय केे प्रतीक इस पर्व के दौरान रावण दहन और शस्त्र पूजन के साथ शमीवृक्ष का भी पूजन किया जाता है। संस्कृत साहित्य में अग्नि को 'शमी गर्भ'के नाम से जाना जाता है।

हिंदू धर्म में विजयादशमी के दिन शमी वृक्ष का पूजन करते आए हैं। खासकर क्षत्रियों में इस पूजन का महत्व ज्यादा है। महाभारत के युद्ध में पांडवों ने इसी वृक्ष के ऊपर अपने हथियार छुपाए थे और बाद में उन्हें कौरवों से जीत प्राप्त हुई थी। गुजरात के कच्छ जिले,भुज शहर में करीबन साढ़े चार सौ साल पुराना एक शमीवृक्ष है।

भविष्यवक्ता शमी :

विक्रमादित्य के समय में सुप्रसिद्ध ज्योतिषाचार्य वराहमिहिर ने भी अपने 'बृहतसंहिता'नामक ग्रंथ के 'कुसुमलता' अध्याय में वनस्पति शास्त्र और कृषि उपज के संदर्भ में जो जानकारी प्रदान की है उसमें शमीवृक्ष अर्थात खिजड़े का उल्लेख मिलता है।

वराहमिहिर के अनुसार जिस साल शमीवृक्ष ज्यादा फूलता-फलता है उस साल सूखे की स्थिति का निर्माण होता है। विजयादशमी के दिन इसकी पूजा करने का एक तात्पर्य यह भी है कि यह वृक्ष आने वाली कृषि विपदा का पहले से संकेत दे देता है जिससे किसान पहले से भी ज्यादा पुरुषार्थ करके आनेवालेे संकट का सामना कर सकता है।

शमी वृक्ष से लाभ : भारत में खासकर गुजरात में कई किसान अपने खेतों में शमीवृक्ष बोते हैं जिसे उन्हें कई सारे प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष लाभ भी हुए है। यह वृक्ष पानखर जैसा कांटेदार वृक्ष है जिसके पत्ते सूख जाने के बाद उसमें छोटे-छोटे पीले फूल आते हैं। उसकी जड़ जमीन में बहुत गहराई तक जाती है जिससे उपज के सूखने का भय नहीं रहता।

यह वृक्ष हर साल कई प्राणियों के लिए चारे का काम करता है। गर्मियों के दिनों में बहुत ही फूलता-फलता है और उसमें ढेर सारे पत्ते आते हैं। खेत की मेढ़ पर उसे बोने से फसल पर पड़ने वाले वायु के अधिक दबाव को भी वह कम कर देता है। जिससे खेत की फसलों को तूफान से होने वाले नुकसान नहीं होते।

इस वृक्ष की लकड़ियों से आज भी कई गांवों में घर के चूल्हे जलते हैं। विदेशों के कृषि विशेषज्ञों ने भी यह बात मान ली है कि जिस खेत में शमी वृक्ष बोया जाता है उस खेत के किसान को देर-सबेर कई सारे फायदे होते हैं।

शायद इसलिए ही हिंदू धर्म में बरगद,पीपल,तुलसी और बिल्व पत्र जैसे पवित्र वृक्षों की तरह ही इस शमी वृक्ष (खीजड़ा)को भी पूजनीय माना जाता है।
