दिल्ली के इतिहास की बात करें तो दिल्ली कई बार कई कारणों से उजड़ गई है लेकिन इस बार प्रदूषण सबसे बड़ा कारण बना हुआ है। हर वर्ष प्रदूषण का स्तर खतनाक होता जा रहा है। लोगों का सांस लेना दुभर हो चला है। घर से बाहर निकलकर घर से अंदर आने तक व्यक्ति लगभग 20 से 22 सिगरेट पीने जितना धुंआ अपने फेंफड़ो में भर रहा है। घर में भी अब सांस लेना मुश्‍किल हो चला है।

हाल ही में हुए एक सर्वे के अनुसार प्रदूषण के खतरनाक स्तर के कारण 40 फीसदी लोग दिल्ली-एनसीआर से बाहर जाना चाहते हैं। रविवार को जारी एक सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार वायु प्रदूषण के कारण दिल्ली और एनसीआर के 40 प्रतिशत से अधिक निवासी शहर छोड़कर कहीं और बसना चाहते हैं जबकि 16 प्रतिशत निवासियों ने इस दौरान शहर से बाहर जाने की इच्छा प्रकट की। दिल्ली और एनसीआर के 17,000 निवासियों ने इस सर्वेक्षण में हिस्सा लिया। अब सवाल यह उठता है कि...तो क्या तो प्रदूषण से फिर से उजड़ जाएगी दिल्ली और इससे पहले कितनी बार बसी-उजड़ी है दिल्ली।

1. खांडवप्रस्थ : आज का दिल्ली प्राचीनकाल का इंद्रप्रस्थ था। इंद्रप्रस्थ से पहले यह खांडवप्रस्थ था, जहां एक भव्य नगर बसा हुआ था। नगर के बीचोबीच एक महल था और नगर के चारों और वन था जिसे खांडव वन कहते थे। यमुना नदी के किनारे बसे खांडवप्रस्थ को बसाया था। प्राकृतिक आपदा के कारण यह क्षेत्र उजाड़ हो गया था।

2. खांडवन में आग : इस उजाड़ क्षेत्र में दानव राज मय और उसके कुल के लोग रहते थे। यहां नागकुल के लोग भी रहते थे। एक तक्षक नाग भी यहीं रहता था। यह क्षेत्र हस्तिनापुर (मेरठ) के अंतर्गत था। धृतराष्ट्र ने इस वनक्षेत्र को पांडवों को सौंप दिया। पांडवों ने यहां इंद्रप्रस्थ नामक नगर बसाने की योजना के तहत भयंकर आग लगा दी जिसके चलते वन में रह रहे सिंह, पशु, मृग, हाथी, भैंसे, सर्प और अन्य पशु-पक्षी अन्यान्य वन में भागने लगते हैं। इस आग से बड़ी मुश्‍किल से तक्षक नाग और यमदानव बच कर भागे। कहते हैं कि खांडववन को अग्नि 15 दिन तक जलाती रही। इस अग्निकाण्ड में केवल छह प्राणी ही बच पाते हैं। अश्‍वसेन सर्प, मय दानव और चार शार्ड्ग पक्षी। बात में मय दानव के माध्यम से ही यहां इंद्रप्रस्थ नामक नगर बसाया गया। आज हम जिसे 'दिल्ली' कहते हैं, वही प्राचीनकाल में इंद्रप्रस्थ था। दिल्ली में पुराना किला इस बात का सबूत है।

3. इंद्रप्रस्थ को उड़ा दिया गया : जब पांडवों को वनवास हुआ तो उन्हें इंद्रप्रस्थ छोड़कर जाना पड़ा इस दौरान इंद्रप्रस्थ उजाड़ सा हो गया था। युद्ध के बाद पांडवों ने इस क्षेत्र में रुचि नहीं ली लेकिन कहते हैं कि भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के अपने धाम चले जाने के बाद अर्जुन उनके कुल के बचे एक मात्र व्यक्ति वज्र को इन्द्रप्रस्थ का राजा बना दिया था। वज्र वहां कुछ समय तक रहने के बाद मथुरा आ गए और वहीं उन्होंने अपने राज्य का विस्तार किया। वज्र के कारण ही मथुरा, वृंदावन आदि क्षेत्र को वज्रमंडल कहा जाता है।

पांडवों के वंशजों राजा परीक्षित और जनमेजय ने जब हस्तिनापुर पर राज क्या तब तक इंद्रप्रस्थ एक नगर बना रहा लेकिन इसके बाद उसका क्या हुआ इसको निश्चयपूर्वक नहीं कहा जा सकता। कहते हैं कि उसके बाद कई काल तक यह क्षेत्र महत्वहीन बना रहा।

4. मौर्य काल में दिल्ली : मौर्य काल में दिल्ली या इंद्रप्रस्थ का कोई विशेष महत्त्व न था क्योंकि राजनीतिक शक्ति का केंद्र इस समय मगध में था। मौर्यकाल के पश्चात् लगभग 13 सौ वर्ष तक दिल्ली और उसके आसपास का प्रदेश अपेक्षाकृत महत्त्वहीन बना रहा। लेकिन यहां नगर आबाद जरूर था।

5. तोमर राजा ने बसाई दिल्ली : दिल्ली के इतिहास के अनुसार मौर्य और गुप्त साम्राज्य के बाद दिलई का जिक्र 737 ईस्वी में मिलता है। इस दौर में राजा अनंगपाल तोमर ने पुरानी दिल्ली (इंद्रप्रस्थ) से 10 मील दक्षिण में अनंगपुर बसाया। यहां ढिल्लिका गांव था। कुछ वर्षों के पश्‍चात्य उसने लालकोट नगरी बसाई। फिर 1180 में चौहान राजा पृथ्वीराज तृतीय ने किला राय पिथौरा बनाया। इस किले के अंदर ही कस्बा बसता था।

6. पृथ्वीराज चौहान के साम्राज्य की राजधानी : महान सम्राट हर्ष के साम्राज्य के बिखराव के बाद उत्तर भारत में अनेक छोटी-मोटी राजपूत रियासतें उभरने लगी। इन्हीं में 12वीं शती में पृथ्वीराज चौहान की भी एक रियासत थी जिसकी राजधानी दिल्ली भी बनाई गई थी। कहते हैं कि दिल्ली के कुतुब मीनार और महरौली का निकटवर्ती प्रदेश ही पृथ्वीराज के समय की दिल्ली था। यहां पृथ्वीराज चौहान के कई निर्माण कार्य किए थे।

7. गोरी के काल में उजाड़ी थी दिल्ली : मुहम्मद बिन कासिम के बाद महमूद गजनवी और उसके बाद मुहम्मद गोरी ने भारत पर आक्रमण कर अंधाधुंध कत्लेआम और लूटपाट मचाई। गोरी ने भारत पर आक्रमण के कई अभियान चलाए। 1191 ईस्वी में उसका प्रथम युद्ध पृथ्वीराज चौहान से हुआ। इसके बाद मुहम्मद गोरी ने अधिक ताकत के साथ पृथ्वीराज चौहान पर आक्रमण कर दिया। तराइन का यह द्वितीय युद्ध 1192 ईस्वी में हुआ था। इस दौरान उसने दिल्ली पर भयानक आक्रमण जिसके चलते लोगों को पलायन करना पड़ा। गोरी ने भारत से लौटते वक्त अपने गुलाम कुतुबुद्दीन ऐबक को दिल्ली की सल्तनत सौंप दी। मोहम्मद गोरी के बेटे शहाबुद्दीन ने गद्दी संभालने के बाद अपने भरोसेमंद सेनापति कुतुबुद्दीन ऐबक को कमान सौंप दी।

8.महरौली में कुतुबुद्दीन ने बसाई थी दिल्ली : कहते हैं कि महरौली को कुतुबुद्दीन ने बसाया था। ऐबक ने 1206 में दिल्ली से तख्त शुरू किया। उसने कुतुब महरौली बसाई। यह दिल्ली का नया शहर था। इसके बाद ऐबक का दामाद इल्तुतमिश दिल्ली का सुल्तान बन गया। बाद में उसकी बेटी रजिया सुल्तान दिल्ली की शासक बनी। इसके बाद दिल्ली का शासन खिलजी वंश के अंतर्गत आ गया। खिलजी के बाद तुगलक वंश के लोगों ने इस पर अधिकार कर लिया।

9. खिलजी ने बसाई दिल्ली : 1296 में अलाउद्दीन खिलजी ने मारकाट मचाते हुए दिल्ली को बरबाद कर दिया। बाद में उसने नए सिरे से दिल्ली को बसाया।

10. तुगलक ने बसाई दिल्ली : खिलजी कमजोर हुए तो 1320 में तुगलक दिल्ली आ धमके और उन्होंने भी यहां खूब रक्तपात किया। गयासुद्दीन तुगलक ने बर्बाद दिल्ली को फिर से बसाया और दिल्ली का एक नया दौर प्रारंभ हुआ। यह दौर तुगलक से ज्यादा मशहूर सूफी निजामुद्दीन औलिया और उनके शागिर्द अमीर खुसरो की वजह से जाना गया।

11. तैमूर ने उजाड़ दी थी दिल्ली : चंगेज खान के बाद तैमूर लंग 1369 ई. में समरकंद का शासक बना। लगभग 1398 ई. में तैमूर भारत में मार-काट और बरबादी लेकर आया। तैमूर मंगोलों की फौज लेकर आया तो उसका कोई कड़ा मुकाबला नहीं हुआ। तुगलक बादशाह के समय दिल्ली में वह 15 दिन रहा और हिन्दू और मुसलमान दोनों ही कत्ल किए गए और हर तरफ लूटमार और मारकाट होने के कारण दिल्ली से लोग भाग गए और दिल्ली किसी मरघट के समान उजाड़ हो गई।

12. लोधियों ने फिर से बसाई दिल्ली : लोधियों ने तैमूर को खदेड़ दिया और बहलोल और सिकंदर के बाद इब्राहिम लोदी ने दिल्ली को फिर से बसाया लेकिन शहर फिरोजशाह के आसपास ही आबाद रहा, बाकी शहर उजाड़ था। 

13. हुमायूं ने बसाई दिल्ली: इसके बाद इब्राहिम लोदी को क्रूर बाबर ने हरा दिया और दिल्ली एक बार फिर से उजाड़ हो गई। लोगों को बसने में बहुत समय लगता है लेकिन दिल्ली को कई बार आक्रमणों ने उजाड़ा। वैसे बाबर ने आगरा को अपनी राजधानी बनाया लेकिन उसकी मौत के बाद उसका बेटा हुमायूं दिल्ली आया और उसे नए सिरे से इस शहर में बसाहट की। 1539 में शेर शाह सूरी ने हुमायूं को जंग में खदेड़ दिया और दीनपनाह को शेरगढ़ बना दिया।

14. शांहजहां ने फिर बसाई दिल्ली : अकबर के बेटे शांहजहां ने दिल्ली का रुख किया और यमुना किनारे शाहजहानाबाद की नींव रखी। 46 लाख रुपए में अपना तख्त-ए-ताऊस बनवाया। जामा मस्जिद बनवाई। चांदनी चौक बसा। मीना बाजार बना।

उल्लेखनीय है कि 1662 में दिल्ली में हुए एक भीषण अग्निकांड में 60 हजार और 1716 में भारी वर्षा के कारण मकान ध्वस्त होने से 23 हजार लोग मारे गए थे। उस दौरान भी दिल्ली लगभग उजाड़ हो गई थी।

15. नादिर शाह ने उजाड़ दी दिल्ली : तैमूर लंग की दौर की तरह 1739 में दिल्ली में एक बार फिर हुआ कत्ल-ए-आम। मुगल शासक मोहम्मद शाह के वक्त ईरान से आए नादिर शाह ने मचाई मारकाट में दिल्ली के 30 हजार लोग मारे गए थे। कहते हैं कि वह जाते वक्त लूट के माल के साथ तख्त-ए-ताऊस भी अपने साथ ले गया था। 

16. अंग्रेजों ने बसाई दिल्ली : नादिर के बाद ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी की दिल्ली में एंट्री हुई। फिर 1803 में दिल्ली भी अंग्रेजों के नियंत्रण में आ गई। अंग्रेजों ने भी वहीं किया जो तैमूर लंग और नादिर शाह ने किया। इसके बाद भारत की राजधानी 1911 में कलकत्ता से दिल्ली स्थानांतरित हुई। 13 फरवरी, 1931 को दिल्ली 20 सालों के इंतजार के बाद अविभाजित भारत की राजधानी बनी। 15 अगस्त, 1947 को भारत की आजादी के बाद भी नई दिल्ली को ही राजधानी बनाने का फैसला लिया गया।
