प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के 'जनता कर्फ्यू' के आह्वान पर इंदौर बंद मुकम्मल रहा। स्वप्रेरित बंद के कारण सुबह से ही सड़कों पर सन्नाटा पसरा रहा, दुकानें के शटर बंद रहे, लोगों की आवाजाही भी सड़कों पर नहीं के बराबर रही। हालांकि कुछ लोग बंद का तमाशा देखने भी निकले। सड़कों पर वीडियो बनाते हुए भी नजर आए और सेल्फियां लेते हुए भी। शायद ये कोरोना वायरस की गंभीरता से वाकिफ नहीं थे या फिर उन्हें यह बंद महज एक मजाक नजर आ रहा था।

पाटनीपुरा, नेहरूनगर, मालवा मिल, एमजी रोड, बर्फानी धाम, तिलकनगर, खजराना, मूसाखेड़ी, राजीव गांधी चौराहा, चोइथराम मंडी, राऊ, रेलवे स्टेशन, जवाहर मार्ग, रिवर साइड रोड, इंदौर का हृदय स्थल राजवाड़ा चारों ओर सन्नाटा पसरा हुआ था। गैस हाउस रोड पर कुछ बच्चे और किशोर जरूर क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।

रीगल चौराहे पर यूं तो सब कुछ बंद दिखाई दे रहा था, लेकिन गांधी प्रतिमा का नजारा कुछ अलग ही था। गांधीजी की प्रतिमा के आसपास कबूतरों का झुंड बैठा हुआ था, मानो वह कोरोना की गंभीरता का संदेश देते हुए कह रहा था कि हम भी आज अपने घर में ही बंद हैं। शांति के प्रतीक इन कबूतरों में एक पल के लिए हरकत भी हुई, लेकिन थोड़ी-सी उड़ान के फिर वहीं बैठ गए।

वहीं पास में मौजूद रेलवे स्टेशन की पटरियां भी मौन थीं। स्टेशन पर न तो कोई ट्रेन नजर आ रही थी, न ही यात्री। इलेक्ट्रॉनिक बोर्ड पर जरूर कुछ ट्रेनों की मंजिल और नंबर अंकित थे, लेकिन उनके आगे 'रद्द' लिखा हुआ था, जो इस मौन को अपनी मंजूरी दे रहा था। हमने बोर्ड से नजर हटाई भी नहीं थी कि सहसा एक बुजुर्ग ने पूछ लिया कि भैया क्या आगे दुकानें खुली हुई हैं? दरअसल, उन्हें कुछ खाने के सामान की तलाश थी।

हमेशा गुलजार रहने वाला राजवाड़ा भी आज सन्नाटे में था। सभी दुकानें बंद। कुछ लोग वहां सेल्फी लेते जरूर दिखाई तभी। तभी वहां कुछ पुलिसवालों ने उन्हें खदेड़ दिया। इसी दौरान कुछ ऐसे लोग भी दिखाई दिए जो लोगों को खाने की सामग्री भी बांट रहे थे।

हालांकि मूसाखेड़ी स्थित मजदूर चौक का दृश्य रोज से कुछ अलग ही था। यहां मजदूरों की संख्‍या दर्जनभर भी नहीं थी। कुछ लोग तो घर से निकले नहीं, जबकि कुछ इस उम्मीद से निकले कि शायद काम मिल जाए और शाम का चूल्हा जल जाए। एक मजदूर ने कहा कि काम नहीं करेंगे तो खाएंगे क्या?

इस पूरे बंद का सबसे दुखद पहलू रहा इंदौर की देशी और विदेशी शराब की दुकानें पूरे समय खुली रहीं। कुछ घूमते-फिरते लोगों को रोकने वाली पुलिस का इन दुकानों की तरफ बिलकुल भी ध्यान नहीं था। शराब के ठेके रोज की तरह खुले और लोग वहां शराब खरीदने भी पहुंचे।

खैर! कुछ लोगों ने भले ही इसे गंभीरता से नहीं लिया हो, लेकिन शहर के ज्यादातर व्यापारियों और व्यवसायियों ने अपने व्यावसायिक हितों की परवाह किए बिना बंद को जिस तरह से समर्थन दिया उससे इस बात का विश्वास तो बढ़ा कि कोरोना के खिलाफ इस जंग में जीत हमारी ही होगी।
