ललिता षष्ठी व्रत को भाद्रपद माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की षष्ठी तिथि को यह पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष यह त्योहार 12 सितंबर 2021, रविवार को मनाया जाएगा। यह व्रत संतान षष्ठी के नाम से जनमानस में प्रचलित है। हिन्दू पंचांग के अनुसार यह दिन शक्तिस्वरूपा देवी ललिता को समर्पित है। कुछ लोग इसे मोर से जोड़कर भी देखते हैं....
पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार देवी ललिता आदि शक्ति का वर्णन देवी पुराण से प्राप्त होता है। इसकी पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार नैमिषारण्य में एक बार यज्ञ हो रहा था जहां दक्ष प्रजापति के आने पर सभी देवता गण उनका स्वागत करने के लिए उठे। लेकिन भगवान शंकर वहां होने के बावजूद भी नहीं उठे इसी अपमान का बदला लेने के लिये दक्ष ने अपने यज्ञ में शिवजी को आमंत्रित नही किया। जिसका पता मां सती को चला और वो बिना भगवान शंकर से अनुमति लिये अपने पिता राजा दक्ष के घर पहुंच गई।
उस यज्ञ में अपने पिता के द्वारा भगवान शंकर की निंदा सुनकर और खुद को अपमानित होते देखकर उन्होने उसी अग्नि कुंड में कूदकर अपने अपने प्राणों को त्याग दिया भगवान शिव को इस बात की जानकारी हुई तो तो वह मां सती के प्रेम में व्याकुल हो गए और उन्होने मां सती के शव को कंधे में रखकर इधर उधर उन्मत भाव से घूमना शुरू कर दिया। भगवान शंकर की इस स्थिति से विश्व की सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्था छिन्न भिन्न हो गई। ऐसे में विवश होकर अपने सुदर्शन चक्र से माता सती के शरीर के टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिए। जिसके बाद मां सती के शरीर के अंग कटकर गिर गए और उन अंगों से शक्ति विभिन्न प्रकार की आकृतियों से उन स्थानों पर विराजमान हुई और वह शक्तिपीठ स्थल बन गए।
महादेव भी उन स्थानों पर भैरव के विभिन्न रूपों में स्थित है। नैमिषारण्य में मां सती का ह्रदय गिरा था। नैमिष एक लिंगधारिणी शक्तिपीठ स्थल है। जहां लिंग स्वरूप में भगवान शिव की पूजा की जाती है और यही मां ललिता देवी का मंदिर भी है। जहां दरवाजे पर ही पंचप्रयाग तीर्थ विद्यमान है। भगवान शंकर को हृदय में धारण करने पर सती नैमिष में लिंगधारिणी नाम से विख्यात हुईं इन्हें ललिता देवी के नाम से पुकारा जाने लगा।
एक अन्य मत के अनुसार ललिता देवी का प्रादुर्भाव तब होता है जब ब्रह्मा जी द्वारा छोड़े गए चक्र से पाताल समाप्त होने लगा। इस स्थिति से विचलित होकर ऋषि-मुनि भी घबरा जाते हैं और संपूर्ण पृथ्वी धीरे-धीरे जलमग्न होने लगती है। तब सभी ऋषि माता ललिता देवी की उपासना करने लगते हैं। प्रार्थना से प्रसन्न होकर देवी जी प्रकट होती हैं तथा इस विनाशकारी चक्र को थाम लेती हैं। सृष्टि पुन: नवजीवन को पाती है।
संतान सुख एवं उसकी लंबी आयु के लिए इस व्रत का बहुत महत्व है। इस अवसर पर भक्तगण व्रत रखकर माता की कृपा प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।
