अक्षय कुमार की आने वाली फिल्म 'गोल्ड' एक स्वतंत्र राष्ट्र के रूप में भारत का पहला स्वर्ण पदक जीतने की कहानी है, जिसमें वास्तविकता बनाए रखने की यथासंभव कोशिश की गई है।

यह 2018 की सबसे बड़ी स्पोर्ट्स फ़िल्म है जिसमें 2000 से अधिक एक्टर्स लिए गए है। चूंकि फिल्म में ब्रिटिश दौर की कहानी है इसलिए इसमें भारतीय एक्टर्स से ले कर ब्रिटिश एक्टर्स तक का काफ़िला शामिल किया गया है।

हॉकी पर आधारित इस फ़िल्म के लिए सभी खिलाड़ियों को हॉकी की विशेष ट्रेनिंग दी गई ताकि वे फ़िल्म में मंझे हुए खिलाड़ी की तरह खेलते हुए नज़र आएं। "गोल्ड" के जरिये फ़िल्म के निर्माता उस ऐतिहासिक लम्हें को एक बार फिर दर्शकों के सामने पेश करने के लिए तैयार हैं।

फिल्म में अक्षय कुमार, हॉकी खिलाड़ी तपन दास के सपने से देश को रूबरू करवाएंगे, जो हॉकी में एक स्वतंत्र राष्ट्र के रूप में भारत का पहला स्वर्ण पदक जीतना चाहते थे।

वह लंदन में 1948 के ओलंपिक के लिए टीम को प्रशिक्षित करते हैं, जो अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ अपने मैदान पर मुकाबला करने के लिए सभी एथलीट को प्रेरणा देते हैं। जिसके बाद, भारत आख़िरकार 12 अगस्त, 1948 के दिन स्वर्ण पदक जीत जाता है और इस जीत के साथ देश का सर गर्व से ओर ऊपर हो जाता है। इस फिल्म को ब्रिटेन और भारत में फ़िल्माया गया है।

फ़िल्म "गोल्ड" के साथ न केवल अभिनेता अक्षय कुमार पहली बार रितेश सिधवानी और फरहान अख्तर के एक्सेल एंटरटेनमेंट के साथ मिल कर काम कर रहे हैं, बल्कि इस फ़िल्म के साथ टीवी अभिनेत्री मौनी रॉय भी बॉलीवुड में अपना डेब्यू कर रही हैं। अक्षय कुमार, मौनी रॉय, कुणाल कपूर, अमित साध, विनीत सिंह और सनी कौशल अभिनीत, गोल्ड पॉवर पैक कलाकरों से लैस है।
