इंसानी समाज मर्द और औरत के वजूद से बनता है। लेकिन इनके अलावा एक तीसरी श्रेणी भी होती है। भारतीय समाज इन्हें किन्नर या हिजड़ा कहता है। कमोबेश हर देश का ये हाल है कि ये समाज में हाशिए पर रहते हैं। इन्हें बराबरी का दर्जा नहीं दिया जाता।
भारत ही नहीं, पूरी दुनिया में ये लोग लंबे समय से अपने हक़ की लड़ाई लड़ रहे हैं। कई देशों में बहुत हद तक कामयाबी मिली भी है। फिर भी इन्हें खुले दिल से क़ुबूल नहीं किया जाता। दुनिया भर में इनकी स्थिति ऐसी ही है।
लेकिन एक जगह ऐसी भी है, जहां ये समाज में ऊंचे दर्जे पर रखे गए हैं। ये ठिकाना है, मेक्सिको के दक्षिण राज्य ओक्साका का इस्तमो दी तेहुआंतेपेक ऐसा इलाक़ा है जहां इन्हें मर्द और औरत के समान इज़्ज़त और सम्मान मिलता है। इन्हें मन मुताबिक़ जीने की पूरी आज़ादी है। यहां इन्हें मुसे कहते हैं।
जब हमारी मुलाक़ात कलाकार और निर्देशक ल्यूकस अवेंडानो से हुई तो वो मर्दाना लिबास में थीं। लेकिन जब उन्हें दोबारा देखा तो वो ज़नाना लिबास में थीं। माजरा कुछ समझ नहीं आया। हमने पूछा कि उन्हें मोहतरमा कहकर मुख़ातिब करें या जनाब। ल्यूकस ने मुस्कुराकर कहा, 'आप स्वीटहार्ट कहिए।'
यहां के लोग स्थानीय भाषा ज़पोटेक बोलते हैं और मुसे इसी भाषा का शब्द है। यहां हर साल नवंबर महीने में मुसे के लिए कार्यक्रम का आयोजन होता है, जिसे वेला कहते हैं।
इस कार्यक्रम में सभी मुसे कशीदाकारी वाले रंगबिरंगे कपड़ों में ख़ूब सज-धजकर आते हैं। स्थानीय महिलाओं और मुसे में कोई अंतर नज़र नहीं आता। कोई पश्चिमी देशों के अंदाज़ वाली ड्रेस पहनता है तो कोई मर्दाना लिबास। होंठों पर सजी लाली और नाख़ूनों पर लगी पॉलिश से ही अंदाज़ा लगता है कि वो मर्द के लिबास में कोई महिला है।
थर्ड जेंडर की परिभाषा
अभी तक हम थर्ड जेंडर की वही परिभाषा जानते हैं, जो पश्चिमी देशों ने बताई। लेकिन मुसे शब्द का दायरा बहुत बड़ा है। इसकी गहराई समझने के लिए यहां की संस्कृति को भी समझना होगा।
कुछ लोगों का कहना है कि विसेंट फ़ेरर तीन बैग लेकर इस शहर से गुज़र रहे थे। एक बैग में मर्द, एक में महिला पैदा करने वाले बीज था। और एक बैग में दोनों के मिले जुले बीज थे। इस बैग से बहुत से बीज उछलकर इस शहर की ज़मीन पर गिर गए। यही वजह है कि यहां इतनी बड़ी संख्या में मुसे मिलते हैं।
वहीं कुछ स्थानीय लोग ये भी कहते है कि संत जुचेटैन के पालनहार, विनसेंट फ़ेरर जब इस शहर से गुज़र रहे थे, तो उसी समय एक भाग्यशाली सितारे के साए तले मुसे का जन्म हुआ।
हालांकि, एक प्राइमरी स्कूल की टीचर किका इससे इत्तिफ़ाक़ नहीं रखतीं कि उनके शहर में मुसे की तादाद ज़्यादा है। बल्कि उनका कहना है कि इनके समाज में थर्ड जेंडर को कुछ ज़्यादा ही सम्मान दिया जाता है, इसलिए लगता है कि उनकी संख्या ज़्यादा है।
ज़पेटेक समाज में महिलाएं अहम
मेक्सिको में संत जुचेटिन की मान्यता काफ़ी ज़्यादा है। माना जाता है कि वो एक महिला थीं। शायद यही वजह है कि ज़पेटेक समाज में महिलाएं ज़्यादा अहम हैं। यहां महिलाओं का सम्मान ज़्यादा है।
मर्द अपनी पूरी कमाई महिला के हाथ पर रखते हैं और वही घर के सभी फ़ैसले करती हैं। यहां तक कि मर्द उत्पादन क्षेत्र में सक्रिय रहते हैं और महिलाएं कारोबार की बागडोर संभालती हैं। जब मर्द और औरत दोनों काम के सिलसिले में घर से बाहर होते हैं तो घर पर बच्चों की देखभाल की ज़िम्मेदारी मुसे पर होती है।

मुसे का जन्म यानी ख़ुशक़िस्मती
किसी भी परिवार में मुसे का जन्म ख़ुशक़िस्मती माना जाता है क्योंकि मां-बाप की ग़ैर-मौजूदगी में वही घर की देखभाल करता है। मुसे किसी भी शख़्स के साथ रह सकते हैं, लेकिन शादी नहीं कर सकते। बुढ़ापे में उन्हें अपनी मां के पास ही रहना पड़ता है।
इनके समाज में मुसे का बड़ा रोल होता है। शादी-ब्याह, जन्मदिन या तमाम त्यौहारों पर रिवायती खाने पकाने का ज़िम्मा मुसे पर होता है। ये पकवान यहां की स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था का एक अहम हिस्सा हैं। इसके अलावा म्युचेज़ हाथ की कलाकारी वाला सामान बड़े पैमाने पर तैयार करते हैं जिसकी बड़े बाज़ारों में भारी मांग होती है।
ल्यूकस अवेंडानो दुनिया भर में घूमकर मुसे पर शो बना चुके हैं। उनके मुताबिक़ मुसे की कैथोलिक ईसाई वाली पहचान पर ग़ौर करने की ज़रूरत है। कैथोलिक चर्च में मुसे का बड़ा रोल होता है। चर्च की साज-सज्जा की ज़िम्मेदारी इन्हीं पर होती है। सच पूछा जाए तो समाज में इन्हें बराबर सम्मान दिलाने में कैथोलिक चर्च ने बड़ी भूमिका निभाई है। यहां सभी मुसे भाईचारे के साथ रहते हैं।
मुसे फेस्टिवल
मुसे का सालाना जलसा धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। शहर की तमाम सड़कें सजाई जाती हैं। सभी मुसे हाथ में शमा लेकर रंग-बिरंगे कपड़ों में निकलते हैं। इनके साथ बैंड भी जश्न की धुनें बजाता हुआ निकलता है। कुछ पैदल चलते हैं तो कुछ गाड़ियों में होते हैं तो कुछ ट्रक पर सवार होते हैं। सभी गाड़ियां फूलों और गुब्बारों से सजी होती हैं।
जलसे का सबसे अहम और आकर्षक पहलू है रात का खाना जो कि शहर से बाहर आयोजित होता है। महिलाएं रंग-बिरंगी कढ़ाई वाली स्कर्ट पहनती हैं। इसे इनेगुवा कहते हैं। इसके साथ ब्लाउज़ पहना जाता है, जो कि बहुत चमकीला होता है। इसे हुईपिल कहते हैं। मर्द सफ़ेद रंग की शर्ट पहनते हैं जिसे गुआएबेरा कहते हैं।
ज़पेटेक में मर्द और मुसे के बीच होते हैं रिश्ते
स्टेज पर कार्यक्रम का आयोजक मौजूद होता है जिसे ला मेयरडोमो कहते हैं। स्टेज पर उसका साथी भी मौजूद होता है जिसे मयाते कहते हैं। मयाते मर्द होता है और मुसे के साथ उसका जिस्मानी रिश्ता होता है।
ज़पेटेक समाज में मर्द और मुसे के बीच रिश्ते को समलैंगिकता नहीं माना जाता। और ना ही इसे बुरी नज़र से देखा जाता है। कार्यक्रम के अंत में क्वीन ऑफ़ मुसे मुक़ाबला भी होता है, जिसमें बड़ी संख्या में मुसे भाग लेते हैं।
'मुसे एक कल्चरल जेंडर'
लेखिका मियानो बरोसो मुसे की संस्कृति और इतिहास पर काफ़ी काम कर चुकी हैं। उन्होंने एक किताब भी लिखी है जिसका नाम है मेन, वुमेन एंड मुसे इन इस्तमो दी तेहुआंतेपेक।
इनका कहना है कि मुसे एक कल्चरल जेंडर है। यह जेंडर सेक्शुअल ओरियंटेशन पर निर्भर नहीं करता। रिवायती तौर पर मुसे हेट्रोसेक्शुअल, बाईसेक्शुअल या असेक्शुअल हो सकते हैं। लगभग सभी मुसे मानते हैं कि वो मर्द के शरीर में औरत के रूप में पैदा हुए हैं। बहुत से लोग हार्मोन थेरेपी और इम्पलांट के ज़रिए ख़ुद को मुसे बनाते हैं।
मुसे एलजीबीटी समुदाय के अधिकारों के लिए भी कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर लड़े हैं। यही नहीं मेक्सिको की सियासत में उन्हें सक्रिय होने का मौक़ा मिला है।
मिसाल के लिए अमारान्ता गोम्ज़ रेगालाडो मेक्सिको कांग्रेस का चुनाव लड़ चुकी हैं। यह और बात है कि उन्हें वोट बहुत ज़्यादा नहीं मिले। लेकिन वह मेक्सिको में पहली ट्रांससेक्शुअल प्रत्याशी के तौर पर मशहूर हो गईं। वह आज भी सियासत में सक्रिय हैं और साथ ही एचआईवी और एड्स से बचाव की मुहिम से भी जुड़ी हैं।
समलैंगिकों को शादी का अधिकार
मेक्सिको लैटिन अमरीका का ऐसा पहला देश है, जहां समलैंगिकों को शादी का अधिकार मिला। लेकिन हैरत की बात है कि मेक्सिको में ही एलजीबीटी समुदाय के साथ अपराध की वारदात सबसे ज़्यादा हुईं हैं।
एक आंकड़े के मुताबिक़, जनवरी 2014 से दिसंबर 2016 तक एलजीबीटी समुदाय के क़रीब 202 लोग मारे गए। हालांकि, मेक्सिको में थर्ड जेंडर को इज़्ज़त मिली हुई है। फिर भी, कुछ स्थानीय लोग उनके साथ भेदभाव करते हैं। उनके लिए तालीम और रोज़गार के मौक़े भी मर्द, औरत के मुक़ाबले बहुत ज़्यादा नहीं हैं। फिर भी मेक्सिको में थर्ड जेंडर की स्थिति दुनिया के दूसरे देशों के मुक़ाबले काफ़ी बेहतर है।
