जब हिंदुस्तान का बँटवारा हुआ, उस वक़्त शिव कुमार बटालवी की उम्र महज़ दस साल थी। विभाजन के बाद उनके परिवार को पाकिस्तान के पंजाब से उजड़कर भारत के हिस्से रह गये पंजाब में आकर बसना पड़ा। लेकिन अब 70 साल बाद भी उनकी शायरी के निशां अदबी पंजाब के साथ-साथ संगीत की दुनिया में फ़हरा रहे हैं।
गुरमुखी के लेखक
23 जुलाई, 1937 को पाकितान के बारापिंड में पैदा हुए शिव कुमार बटालवी ने अपनी शायरी गुरमुखी लिपि में लिखी। जबकि पाकिस्तान में पंजाबी लिखने के लिए शाहमुखी लिपि का इस्तेमाल होता है। लाहौर में पंजाबी भाषा की क़िताबें छापने वाले प्रकाशक 'सुचेत क़िताब घर' ने 1992 में शिव कुमार बटालवी की चुनिंदा शायरी की एक क़िताब 'सरींह दे फूल' छापी।
प्रकाशक सुचेत क़िताब घर के मुखी मक़सूद साक़िब बताते हैं, "मैं 'माँ बोली' नाम से पंजाबी का मासिक रसाला निकालता था जिसके हर अंक में शिव कुमार बटालवी की एक दो कविताएं ज़रूर छपती थीं। पाठक शिव की शायरी के बारे में चिट्ठियाँ लिखते थे। इसके कारण हमें लगा कि हमें उनकी क़िताब छापनी चाहिए।"
'सुचेत किताब घर' ने 'सरींह दे फूल' का दूसरा संस्करण साल 2014 में प्रकाशित किया। लाहौर के ही एक और प्रकाशक 'फ़िक्शन हाउस' ने 1997 में शिव कुमार बटालवी की संपूर्ण शायरी 'कुलियात-ए-शिव' के नाम से छापी। 'फ़िक्शन हाउस' के ज़हूर अहमद को शिव कुमार की शायरी छापने की सिफ़ारिश डॉक्टर आसिफ़ फ़ारूक़ी ने की थी।
दिल्ली में शिव की तस्वीर देखकर डॉक्टर आसिफ़ फ़ारूक़ी ने अमृता प्रीतम से पूछा था कि इतना सुंदर लिखने वाला ये लड़का कौन है। अमृता ने बताया था कि शिव कुमार बटालवी पंजाबी जुबां के बहुत बड़े शायर रहे हैं और बहुत जवान उम्र में ही उनका देहांत हो गया था। डॉक्टर आसिफ़ फ़ारूक़ी ने शिव कुमार की शायरी पढ़ी और 'फ़िक्शन हाउस' से 'कुलियात-ए-शिव' छपवा दी।
'कुलियात-ए-शिव' का दूसरा संस्करण 2017 में छपा। इसी साल 'साँझ' नाम के प्रकाशक ने भी उनका सम्पूर्ण काव्य 'क़लाम-ए-शिव' के नाम से छापा है। नौजवान शायर अफ़ज़ल साहिर रेडियो पर 'नाल सज्जन दे रहिये...' नाम का एक प्रोग्राम पेश करते हैं। वो अक्सर शिव कुमार बटालवी की शायरी पढ़ कर सुनाते हैं। वो कई बार उनकी शायरी पर विशेष प्रोग्राम भी पेश कर चुके हैं।

शिव कुमार सिलेबस का हिस्सा नहीं
अफ़ज़ल साहिर का कहना है, "सरहद के दोनों तरफ अलग-अलग लिपियों में पंजाबी लिखी जाती है। इस कारण से सरहद पार के कवियों को कम पढ़ा जाता है। हालाँकि पाकिस्तान के पंजाब में पंजाबी की हालत काफ़ी खस्ता है। पर 1990 के दशक में शिव कुमार यहाँ पर छपे और लोग उसे पढ़ने लगे। नुसरत फ़तेह अली खान ने उनका गीत 'मायें नी मायें मेरे गीतां दे नैणां विच विरहो दी रडक पवे।।।' गाकर उसे बहुत मक़बूल कर दिया।"
अफ़ज़ल साहिर को याद है कि कई साल पहले लाहौर में 'पंज पाणी' नाम का एक नाटक उत्सव हुआ था जिसमें केवल धारीवाल ने अमृतसर के 'मंच रंगमंच' के अदाकारों के साथ शिव कुमार बटालवी का काव्य नाटक 'लूणा' खेला था। उस नाटक के दर्शकों को बहुत प्रभावित किया था। पाकिस्तान में पंजाबी साहित्य ग्रेजुएशन और मास्टर्स में पढ़ाया जाता है। पर शिव कुमार यहाँ सिलेबस का हिस्सा नहीं हैं।
प्रोफ़ेसर फ़ाखरा ऐजाज़ पंजाबी साहित्य पढ़ाती हैं। वो बताती हैं, "दोनों मुल्क़ों में सियासी हालात के कारण पाकिस्तान के पंजाब में शिव कुमार बटालवी को नहीं पढ़ाया जाता। क्योंकि अगर शायर के नाम के पीछे कुमार, सिंह या कौर लगा हो तो उसे पढ़ाना पाप हो जाता है।"
'मुंडा लंबड़ा दा...'
फ़ाखरा ऐजाज़ बताती हैं कि नौजवान विधार्थी शिव कुमार को पढ़ते हैं। पहले शिव कुमार के गीत शादियों-विवाहों में औरतें ख़ूब गातीं थीं। सुरिंदर कौर के गीत रेडियो पर सुने जाते थे। शादियों में ढोलकी बजाते हुए महिलाएं इतराते हुए गीत गाती थीं, 'मैनूं हीरे-हीरे आँखे नी मुंडा लंबड़ा दा...'
प्रोफ़ेसर मोहम्मद जवाद ने शिव कुमार के गीत को संगीतबद्ध किया है। उनकी आवाज़ में 'गमां दी रात लंबी है या मेरे गीत लंबे ने, ना भेड़ी रात मुकदी है...' डेली नेशन पर ख़ूब देखा गया है। कई अन्य गायकों ने भी शिव कुमार के गीत गाये हैं। ये गीत यू-टयूब पर भी देखे जा सकते हैं। प्रोफ़ेसर मोहम्मद जवाद अब शिव कुमार बटालवी के गीतों की एल्बम निकलना चाहते हैं।
प्रोफ़ेसर ज़ुबैर अहमद पंजाबी बोली के कार्यकर्ता हैं और शिव कुमार के बड़े प्रशंसक हैं। उनका कहना है कि शिव कुमार बटालवी विभाजन की हिंसा के गवाह रहे हैं और उन जुर्मों का दर्द उनके क़लामों में दर्ज है। ये दर्द सरहद के दोनों पार के लोगों का साँझा दर्द रहा है तो शिव कुमार सरहद के किसी एक तरफ़ का शायर नहीं हो सकता।
इसीलिए अमृता प्रीतम के बाद शिव कुमार बटालवी ऐसे कवि हैं जिनका पूरा क़लाम पाकिस्तान में भी छपा है। उनका कहना है, "यहाँ के नौजवान कवियों की शायरी में शिव कुमार की छाप साफ़ झलकती है। जैसे अफ़ज़ल साहिर की शायरी में शिव कुमार की शायरी का असर साफ़ दिखाई देता है।"
