आंगन में खेलते बच्चे, पश्तो भाषा में लोकगीत गातीं घर की औरतें और रौबीली मूंछों पर ताव देते हुए घर लौटते आदमी। एक घर, जहां सुकून हो। लेकिन कल्पना कीजिए, अगर ये घर बँटवारे की तलवार से एक नहीं, दो बार उजाड़ दिया जाए।
ये काकरी समुदाय के उन हिंदू पश्तूनों की हक़ीक़त है, जिन्हें 1893 में ब्रिटिश हुकूमत की अफ़ग़ान-पाकिस्तान के बीच खिंची डूरंड रेखा की वजह से पहले अफ़ग़ानिस्तान से पाकिस्तान आना पड़ा, और आज़ादी के बाद पाकिस्तान से भारत।
कभी बलूचिस्तान के अलग-अलग हिस्सों में रहने वाले ये हिंदू पश्तून 1947 के बाद पंजाब के राजपुरा और राजस्थान के उनियारा, चित्तौड़गढ़ और जयपुर में आकर बस गए। लेकिन काकरी समुदाय के इन लोगों की बूढ़ी आंखों में अपनी पहचान को खोने की उदासी साफ़ नज़र आती है।

जसोदा बबई (दादी) के चेहरे की खाल लटक चुकी है। चेहरे पर गुदे निशान (टैटू) झुर्रियों में छुपे से नज़र आते हैं। 20 साल की उम्र में भारत आईं जसोदा कहती हैं, ''लोग हमें देखकर मज़ाक बनाते थे। कहते थे कि ये क्या पहन रखा है। हमारी बोली का भी मज़ाक उड़ाते थे। हमें अपना पहनावा बदलना पड़ा। धीरे-धीरे सबने अपनी बोली, पहनावा छोड़ दिया। बंटवारे की वजह से हमें रातों-रात हिंदुस्तान आना पड़ा।''
लकीर ने बदली तक़दीर
बँटवारे से पहले ये लोग बलूचिस्तान के क्वेटा, लोरालाई, बोरी और मैख्तर इलाके में रहते थे, जहां इस काकरी कबीले के कुछ लोग आज भी रहते हैं लेकिन, वहां और भारत के काकरी लोगों की ज़िंदगी अब काफी अलग हो गई है।
चंद्रकला बँटवारे की रात को याद करते हुए कहती हैं, ''1893 में डूरंड लकीर ने हमारा मुल्क छीना और 1947 के बँटवारे ने घर। पुलिस आई और कहा कि सिर्फ़ एक रात है जो रख सको रख लो। पालतू जानवर तक नहीं ला पाए, मां-बाप। थाली में गुंथा आटा, किशमिश, बादाम की बोरियां सब वहीं रह गईं। जिस मालगाड़ी से हम आए, वहां जान बचाने के लिए रोशनी तक नहीं करने दी गई थी।''

काकरी लोगों को हिंदू होने की वजह से भारत में घर तो मिला लेकिन कुछ लड़ाई घर मिलने से आगे की होती है। इस कबीले की औरतों के चेहरे पर परंपरा के तहत जो निशान गोदे गए थे उन्हें पश्तो में 'शीन ख़लाई' कहते हैं। इन शीन ख़लाई की वजह से इन औरतों का घूरती निगाहों ने पीछा किया।
सवाल उठे कि ''तुम पाकिस्तान से आए हिंदुओं जैसे क्यों नहीं दिखते? तुम्हारा पहनावा ऐसा क्यों है? कहीं तुम कोई बहरूपिए तो नहीं?''
जशोदा दूसरी पीढ़ी की हिंदू पश्तून हैं। वो बताती हैं, ''लोगों के ऐसे ही सवालों से बचने के लिए कई हिंदू पश्तूनो ने खुद को पश्तून न बताकर, हिंदू पंजाबी कहना शुरू कर दिया था।''

'पश्तो में बोलो तो बच्चे हँसते हैं'
भारत आए इन लोगों को पश्तूनों और पठानों के बीच हुई परवरिश की वजह से बोली और पहनावा देखकर मुसलमान समझा गया और शक की निगाहों से देखा गया। नतीजा ये हुआ कि इन लोगों ने खुद को घर में कैद कर लिया। स्थानीय लोगों से घुलने-मिलने के लिए अपना पहनावा और बोली बदली। घर के बाहर हिंदी और अंदर पश्तो बोलने लगे।
क़रीब 90 बरस की बख़त्बरी कहती हैं, ''हमारा बोली पश्तो के सिवा हमारे पास कुछ नहीं बचा। पश्तो तो हम नहीं छोड़ता है। अब धीरे- धीरे छोड़ेगा पश्तो भी। बच्चा बहू कोई पश्तो नहीं बोलता। हम पश्तो बोलता है तो छोटा-छोटा बच्चा हँसता है। बोलता है बबई क्या बोलता है, फिर क्या बोलूं?''
तुलसीदास, जिन्हें देना पड़ा हिंदू होने का सबूत
10 साल की उम्र में भारत आए और अब 80 बरस के हो चुके तुलसीदास की कहानी भी कुछ ऐसी ही है।
तुलसीदास शुरुआती दिनों को याद कर कहते हैं, ''लोग हमसे नफ़रत इसलिए करते थे क्योंकि हमारा पहनावा मुसलमानों जैसा था। ये हमको हिंदू समझते नहीं थे। ये यही कह रहे थे कि पता नहीं कहां से आ गए, हो सकता है मुसलमान हों। आदमी जहां रहता है, वहीं का पहनावा होता है। फिर धीरे-धीरे हम अपना पहनावा छोड़ते गए, यहां का पहनावा पहनते गए।''
ऐसे में सवाल ये है कि क्या काकरी समुदाय की पहचान और शीन ख़लाई अब बस किस्सों और कहानियों में रह जाएगी?

तीसरी पीढ़ी बचा पाएगी पहचान?
इस समुदाय की तीसरी पीढ़ी से आने वाली शिल्पी बतरा आडवाणी 'शीन ख़लाई' नाम से एक डॉक्यूमेंट्री बना रही हैं। उनकी कोशिश है कि जिन चीज़ों को उनकी दादी-नानी ने लोगों के बीच घुलने-मिलने के लिए छोड़ दिया था, उन्हें फिर से ज़िंदा किया जा सके।
शिल्पी बताती हैं, ''बचपन में एक बार मैंने बबई से मेरे साथ नीचे खेलने चलने के लिए कहा था। वो एकदम से डर गई थीं। कहने लगीं कि नहीं नहीं मैं नहीं जाएगा। ऐसा लगता है सब मुझे देखता है। मेरे मुंह पर इशारा करके घूरता है।''
काकरी समुदाय की इन औरतों के मन में पहचान ज़ाहिर होने का डर इस कदर है कि बुजुर्ग औरतों की काकरी कमीज़ सालों से संदूक में बंद है।
काकरी कमीज़ से साड़ी तक...
जसोदा अब साड़ी पहनने लगी हैं। लेकिन, काकरी कमीज़ को लेकर इन औरतों के मन में काफी लगाव है। इसकी एक झलक तब दिखी जब मेरे सवाल पूछने के दौरान इनकी नज़र काकरी कमीज़ पर गई। जसोदा, बखत्बरी आंखों में चमक लिए उन कमीज़ों को पहनने के लिए लगभग दौड़-सी पड़ीं।
जब मैंने इन औरतों से काकरी कमीज़ छोड़ने की वजह पूछी तो उन्होंने कहा, ''हम कैसे पहनते हमारी काकरी कमीज़। यहां मारवाड़ी लोग साड़ी पहनता था। हम भी साड़ी पहनने लगे। क्या है इसमें? देखो इसमें ये मेरा हाथ दिखता है।''
काकरी कमीज़ बनाने में पूरा साल लग जाता था। कबायली कमीज़ पर सजावट के लिए रुपए सिले जाते थे। जिसकी कमीज़ पर जितने सिक्के वो उतना रईस। तंगी के समय कमीज़ पर लगे इन्हीं रुपयों ने इनका साथ दिया।
भारत में और कहां-कहां रहते हैं ये लोग?
जेएनयू में पश्तो के हेड ऑफ़ डिपार्टमेंट प्रोफेसर खालिद राशिद बताते हैं, 'अफ़गानिस्तान में हिंदू सदियों से रहते आए हैं। भारत आकर बसे इन लोगों की संख्या काफी ज़्यादा है। ये लोग पंजाब, राजस्थान, मध्यप्रदेश, बिहार और बंगाल में भी हैं।
प्रोफेसर खालिद राशिद ने बताया कि ये दो तरह के लोग हैं- पहला हिंदू पठान, दूसरा मुस्लिम पठान। मुस्लिम पठानों की संख्या अपेक्षाकृत ज़्यादा है। हिंदू पठान कंधार के वनों में रहते थे और वही इनका मुल्क था। इन हिंदू पठानों के साथ तीन चीजें ज़िंदा हैं। पहली पहचान, दूसरी ज़बान और तीसरा मज़हब।''
पहचान कौन बचाएगा?
सालों से अपनी पहचान छिपाए रखे इन लोगों के दिलों में ये मलाल है कि इनके बाद कौन इनके रिवाज़ों और पहचान को आगे बढ़ाएगा?
मलाल भरी आंखें और अपने हाथों में गुदे खालून को देख चंद्रकला कहती हैं, 'बच्चा लोग घर में मज़ाक बनाता है। बोलता है हिंदी बोलो। हम चले जाएंगे तो ये सब भी हमारे साथ चला जाएगा।'
मेरे इस जगह से लौटते हुए इन काकरी बुजुर्ग महिलाओं ने पश्तो में कोई गीत गाना शुरू किया, जिसकी आवाज़ मेरे कानों में धीमी होती चली गई।
