उसने खुद को बाथरूम में बंद कर लिया, वह देर रात का वक़्त था। उस वक़्त मेरी बेटी सो रही थी और मैं शोर मचाकर उसे परेशान नहीं करना चाहता था। मैं बहुत घबराया हुआ था, मेरे बार-बार ज़ोर देने पर भी उसने दरवाजा नहीं खोला। मैं सोच रहा था कि, क्या मैंने कुछ ग़लत किया है।
मेरी पत्नी का फ़ोन लगातार बज रहा था और वो उसे उठा नहीं रही थी। जब मैं उसका फ़ोन उठाने गया तो उसने मेरे हाथों से फ़ोन छीन लिया और बाथरूम में चली गई। उसने दरवाज़ा अंदर से बंद कर दिया। घबराहट में मैंने दरवाज़ा तोड़ा और उसके हाथों से फ़ोन छीनकर देखने लगा।
मुझे बड़ी हैरानी हुई कि उसने एक नंबर पर मैसेज भेजा था, इसी नंबर से उसे कुछ मिस्ड कॉल भी आई थीं। मैसेज में लिखा था, ''मेरा फ़ोन मत उठाना, अभी मेरा फ़ोन मेरे भाई के पास है।''
यह मैसेज पढ़ने के बाद में डर सा गया और मैंने उसे कुछ नहीं कहा क्योंकि मुझे लगा कि कहीं वो दोबारा बाथरूम में खुद को बंद ना कर दे या खुद को कोई नुकसान ना पहुंचा दे। अगली सुबह मेरे दो दोस्त घर आए और उससे बात करने लगे। मेरी पत्नी इन दोनों दोस्तों को अच्छे से जानती थी क्योंकि वे अकसर हमारे झगड़े सुलझाने हमारे घर आते रहते थे।
मुझे और बेटी दोनों को छोड़ दिया
मेरे दोनों दोस्त मेरी पत्नी को समझा रहे थे कि वो मेरे साथ ही रहे, हमारे बच्चे के बारे में सोचे, उसके अलग हो जाने से हमारा परिवार ख़त्म हो जाएगा..लेकिन इस बार तो जैसे उसने अपना आख़िरी फ़ैसला कर ही लिया था।
उसने साफ़ शब्दों में कहा कि अब उसके लिए यह 'ज़िंदगी' जीना मुमकिन नहीं है। अगले दिन उसने घर छोड़ दिया लेकिन इस बार वो हमारी बेटी को साथ लेकर नहीं गई। उसने मुझे और बेटी दोनों को छोड़ दिया।
मैं भीतर से टूट गया था, बेहद अकेला महसूस कर रहा था लेकिन कहीं ना कहीं यह सुकून भी था कि कम से कम मेरी तीन साल की बेटी तो मेरे पास है। हम दोनों की लव मैरिज हुई थी और शादी करने के लिए हमें अपने-अपने परिवारों से काफ़ी झगड़ना पड़ा था।
जब हमारी बेटी महज़ तीन महीने की थी तब भी वह घर से चली गई थी और बेटी को भी साथ ले गई थी लेकिन उस वक़्त एक दोस्त के समझाने पर वह लौट आई थी। लेकिन इस बार वो मुझे और मेरी बेटी दोनों को छोड़ गई और कुछ दिन बाद लौट के आया तो वह था 'तलाक़ का कागज़'।
कोर्ट में सुनवाई के दौरान उसने साफ़ कह दिया कि बेटी की देखभाल उसका पिता यानी कि मैं ज़्यादा बेहतर तरीके से कर सकता हूं। मैं और मेरे माता-पिता इस बात से खुश थे कि मेरी बेटी मेरे पास ही रहेगी।
बेटी की ज़िम्मेदारी अकेले संभाली
हमारे अलग होने के शुरुआती दिनों में मुझे अक्सर यह ख़्वाब आता कि हम फिर से एक हो गए हैं और तीनों एक साथ रहने लगे हैं। कभी-कभी मुझे डर लगता कि कहीं किसी दिन वो लौट आए और मुझसे मेरी बेटी को ना छीन ले।
जब हम साथ रहते थे तो हम अपनी बेटी की ज़िम्मेदारियों को आपस में बांट लेते थे, लेकिन अब तो सारी ज़िम्मेदारियां मुझे अकेले ही निभानी थीं। हालांकि मेरे माता-पिता भी वहां थे जो मेरी मदद करते थे। लेकिन मैं चाहता था कि मेरी बेटी को कभी भी अपनी मां की कमी महसूस ना हो।
छोटी उम्र से ही मेरी बेटी को इतिहास से जुड़ी जगहों पर जाने का शौक़ था इसीलिए कई दफ़ा मैं उसे अलग-अलग जगहों पर लेकर जाता। इस दौरान अगर कभी कोई उससे पूछता कि तुम्हारी मां कहां है तो वह चुप हो जाती। जब भी कोई मुझे बुरा-भला कहता तो वह हमेशा मेरा बचाव करती, जब मैं परेशान या हताश होता तो मेरा हौसला बढ़ाती।
लेकिन उसने कभी भी मुझसे अपनी मां के बारे में नहीं पूछा। हालांकि, मां शब्द सुनने पर उसकी चुप्पी का अंदाज़ा मुझे हो जाता। मुझे महसूस होता कि अगर उसकी मां उसके साथ होती तो शायद वह और ज़्यादा खुलकर अपनी बातें रख पाती।
कुछ साल पहले मेरा बहुत ख़तरनाक एक्सिडेंट हुआ और मुझे बहुत गंभीर चोटें आईं। जब मैं अस्पताल में और उसके बाद घर में इन चोटों से उभर रहा था तब मेरी बेटी मेरा सहारा बनी। वह मेरी दवाओं का ख़याल रखती, हमेशा मेरे साथ रहती ।
इतना ही नहीं वो मेरी मां की बीमारी का ध्यान भी रखने लगी। मेरी मां को डायबिटीज़ की बीमारी है तो वह उन्हें डॉक्टर के बताए अनुसार इन्सुलिन की डोज़ देती।

दूसरी शादी नहीं की
मुझे कई लोगों ने दूसरी शादी करने की सलाह दी, लेकिन मेरे लिए अपनी पत्नी को भुला पाना उसके साथ तलाक़ को भुला पाना आसान नहीं था। आख़िर हमारी लव मैरिज हुई थी।
अब मेरी बेटी 13 साल की हो गई है और मेरे माता-पिता चाहते हैं कि अब वो मेरे साथ बाहर ज़्यादा घूमने ना जाए क्योंकि अगर घूमने के दौरान उसे माहवारी हो गई तो शायद मैं उसे संभाल नहीं पाऊंगा।
लेकिन इसके लिए भी तैयार हूं, अगर उसे माहवारी शुरू होती है तो मैं उसे इसके बारे में समझाऊंगा और बताऊंगा कि यह चीज़ लड़कियों के साथ महीने में कुछ तय दिनों के लिए होती है।
वह कल्पना चावला की तरह अंतरिक्षयात्री बनना चाहती है। वह पढ़ाई में भी बहुत अच्छी है। मेरा दूसरी शादी ना करने के पीछे एक वजह यह भी है क्योंकि मुझे लगता है कि अगर दूसरी शादी कर ली तो शायद मैं अपनी बेटी को उतना वक़्त नहीं दे पाऊंगा जितना अभी दे रहा हूं।
हालांकि मैं इतना भी जानता हूं कि अगर मैं दूसरी शादी के लिए तैयार हुआ तो मेरी बेटी मुझे बिलकुल नहीं रोकेगी और ना ही वो इसमें कोई अड़चन पैदा करेगी।
वैसे सच बताऊं तो दूसरी शादी को लेकर मेरे मन में ही यह डर है कि अगर मेरे और मेरी बेटी के बीच में एक दूसरी औरत आ गई तो कहीं हमारे बीच ग़लतफहमियां तो नहीं बढ़ जाएंगी।
अगर वो दूसरी महिला मेरी बेटी को बहुत सामान्य तरीके से भी कुछ कहेगी तो शायद मुझे वो बुरा लगेगा जिससे मेरी दूसरी शादी भी ख़तरे में पड़ जाएगी। और मैं दूसरी बार उस दर्द से गुजरना नहीं चाहता।
यही वजह है कि मैं दूसरी शादी ही नहीं करना चाहता। मेरी ज़िंदगी की अब बस एक ही मक़सद है और वह है मेरी प्यारी बेटी की खुशी।
