मैं 19 साल का था और किसी त्योहार से वापस आया था। मैं बाथरूम में गया और मैंने नहाने की जगह के एक साइड में एक फ़ोन देखा। मैं जानता था कि ये मेरे पापा का फ़ोन है क्योंकि ऐसा ही फ़ोन मैंने उनकी कार में भी कुछ साल पहले देखा था जब मैं किशोरावस्था में प्रवेश कर रहा था।

लेकिन मुझे लगा कि किसी के साथ संबंध होने के ये सबूत काफ़ी नहीं हैं, चूंकि किसी भी मैसेज़ से ऐसा कुछ पता नहीं चल रहा था। मैं नहाया, थोड़ा शांत हुआ और फिर अपने कमरे में चला गया।
मुझे पापा के सीढ़ियों से ऊपर आने की आवाज़ सुनाई दी, मैंने उन्हें कमरे में बुलाया और उन्हें फ़ोन दिखाया। उनकी पहली प्रतिक्रिया थी, "मुझे नहीं पता तुम किस बारे में बात कर रहे हो।"

उन्होंने उसे ऑफिस की एक दोस्त की तरह बताया, जिसे वे ऑफिस के मुश्किल समय से बाहर निकलने में मदद कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा, "मेरे बहुत सारे दोस्त नहीं हैं, और मुझे नहीं लगता था कि एक महिला होने के नाते तुम्हारी मां इसे समझ पाती।"

जल्द ही दो साल बीत गए और मेरे दिमाग में वही सब चल रहा था। मेरे पापा नए फ्लैट में शिफ़्ट होने में मेरी मदद कर रहे थे। उन्हें एक नया आईफ़ोन मिला, उन्होंने मेरी एक फ़ोटो ली और किसी को भेज दी। इसके बाद मैंने अपनी मम्मी को मैसेज़ कर पूछा कि क्या पापा ने उन्हें मेरी फ़ोटो भेजी है। उन्होंने कहा, "क्या? मुझे तो पापा ने कोई मैसेज़ नहीं किया।"
मेरे दिमाग में कुछ चलने लगा। मैं उनके पीछे गया और देखा कि वे किसी आमोस नाम को मैसेज़ कर रहे थे। मुझे पता था ये एक नकली नाम था क्योंकि मुझे पता चल जाएगा कि उनका आमोस नाम का सच में कोई दोस्त है।
पापा आज रात मेरे पास रुक रहे थे और मुझे उनका फ़ोन देखना था। इसलिए आधी रात में मैं उनके कमर में रेंगते हुए गया, फ़ोन लिया और नीचे जाने लगा। मेरे पापा कमरे के बाहर आए और कहा, "क्या मुझे मेरा फ़ोन वापस मिल सकता है?"
उन्होंने मुझे पकड़ लिया था। मैंने एक बहाना बनाया कि मुझे अलार्म लगाने के लिए फ़ोन की जरूरत थी। अगली सुबह, हम नाश्ते के लिए गए और फिर वो चले गए- उन्होंने कुछ नहीं कहा।...ये सच में बहुत अज़ीब था।
पापा का जन्मदिन
अगले छह महीने भी गुज़र गए, मेरे दिमाग से सब कुछ निकल गया। आज मेरे पापा का जन्मदिन था। मैं पापा-मम्मी के साथ रेस्त्रां जा रहा था। हम मेरी छोटी बहन से मिलने जा रहे थे। लेकिन उसे आने में देर हो गई और पापा अपना आपा खो बैठे।
वे मुड़े और वापस घर जाने के लिए चिल्लाने लगे। मुझे सच में गुस्सा आने लगा और उनके पीछे गया, चिल्लाया और उन्हें डरपोक पुकारा। अचानक मेरे मुंह से निकला, ''आमोस कौन हैं?'' वे पीछे मुड़े और उनका पूरा चेहरा सफेद पड़ गया था।

'और फिर मेरी बहन को पता चल गया'
लगभग दो साल बाद मुझे अपनी बहन का एक मैसेज़ मिला, "क्या मैं कॉल कर सकती हूं?"
वो बुरी तरह रो रही थी। उसने कहा, "हे भगवान, पापा मम्मी के साथ धोखा कर रहे हैं।"...मेरी तरह उसने भी उनके फ़ोन में "आमोस" के मैसेज देखे थे। उस समय मुझे ये सुनकर अच्छा लगा।
मैंने फै़सला किया कि मैं उनसे फ़ोन पर बात करूंगा। मैंने कहा, "मैं और मेरी बहन दोनों जानते हैं। आपको मम्मी को बताना चाहिए, नहीं तो मेरे लिए आपके साथ किसी भी तरह का रिश्ता रखना मुश्किल होगा।"...वो पूरी तरह शांत थे। कॉल के आख़िर में उन्होंने कहा, "बताने के लिए शुक्रिया।"
एक चिट्ठी
उन्होंने मेरी मम्मी से सीधे बात नहीं की। यहां तक कि उन्होंने मेरी बहन से भी बात नहीं की, जो उस समय घर में ही रहती थी। तीन महीने के बाद भी उन्होंने नहीं बताया।
मैं उस स्थिति में पहुंच गया था जहां मैं अपने पापा को सच में मारना चाहता था। एक बार हम ट्रेन स्टेशन के लिए जा रहे थे और मैं उन्हें कार में ही छोड़कर चला गया। उस रात, उन्होंने मुझे एक मैसेज भेजा, "मैं आज रात जा रहा हूं, मैंने दीवार वाली घड़ी में एक चिट्ठी छोड़ी है। मैंने शुक्रवार को तुम्हारी बहन से इससे बाहर निकलने के लिए बात की।"
मेरी बहन को पता चलने के बाद उन दोनों को एक साथ तीन महीने साथ रहना पड़ा हालांकि मुझे इसकी कोई परवाह नहीं थी उन्होंने ऐसा कैसे किया। जब तक मैं घर पहुंचा, मां वो चिट्ठी खोल चुकी थीं। शादी के 25 साल बाद इस तरह की बात पता चलना, बहुत ही डरावना था।
नतीजा
मुझे सच में इसका कोई पछतावा नहीं है कि ये सब कैसे सामने आया। मुझे लगता है कि ये थोड़ा अजीब है, लेकिन मैं जितना कर सकता था मैंने किया। मैं वो इंसान नहीं बनना चाहता था जिसके ज़रिये मेरी मां को ये सब पता चले। वो उस समय मुझसे नाराज नहीं थीं। बल्कि वो इस बात से शर्मिंदा थीं कि मुझे इस सब से गुज़रना पड़ा।
मेरी राय
मेरे पास उनके लिए दो तरह की राय है जो लोग इस तरह की स्थिति से गुजरते हैं। पहला, कुछ भी जल्दबाज़ी में करने से बचें। ऐसे समय में मुझे दो बार नहाने से बहुत शांति मिलती है। दूसरा, किसी से निजी तौर पर बात करने से सच में मदद मिलती है। मैं और मेरी बहन अब भी एक-दूसरे से उलझते रहते हैं लेकिन इससे हमारा रिश्ता और मजबूत होता है।
मैंने ये सब अपनी गर्लफ्रैंड को भी बताया। वो भी इसी स्थिति से गु़जरी थी जब उसके पिता ने उसकी मां को धोखा दिया था, इसलिए इससे मुझे बहुत मदद मिली। लेकिन मुश्किल बात ये थी कि मां को पता चलने के बाद से पापा का व्यवहार कैसा रहा।
वे उन्हें किसी भी तरह के रखरखाव और अन्य सामान के लिए पैसा नहीं दे रहे थे, जिससे उनका जीवन और मुश्किल हो गया। उन्होंने एक बहुत ही घटिया बात भी की। क्रिसमस पर एक कंप्यूटर मेरी बहन को मम्मी-पापा की तरफ़ से मिला था जिसे वापस करने की मांग मेरी मां से की गई।
मैंने उन्हें कॉल कर कहा कि इन सब में मेरी बहन को मत लाओ। अगले दिन उन्होंने हम दोनों को एक नया मैसेज किया कि यही अच्छा होगा कि हम संपर्क में न रहें। मम्मी और पापा तलाक़ ले रहे हैं। और मुझे लगता है वो किसी दूसरी महिला के साथ हैं। मैं अभी इस पर काम कर रहा हूं कि भविष्य में हम किस रिश्ते को मज़बूत रख सकते हैं।
