एक तो कोरोना वायरस का डर ऊपर से अगर आपसे एक कमरे में अलग-थलग रहने को कह दिया जाए तो? कोरोना यानी एक ऐसी बीमारी जिसकी चर्चा और दहशत हर तरफ़ है।
अख़बारों की सुर्खियों से लेकर टीवी की हेडलाइन्स और रेडियो पर आने वाले विज्ञापन तक कोविड-19 से बचाव और सावधानी के उपाय के उपाय बताए जा रहे हैं। बचाव के इन्हीं उपायों में से एक है : क्वरंटीन (quarantine)
MedicinNet वेबसाइट के अनुसार मेडिकल साइंस की भाषा में क्वरंटीन का अर्थ है: किसी संक्रामक बीमारी को फैलने से रोकने के लिए किसी को कुछ वक़्त तक अलग रखा जाना।
चूंकि कोरोना भी एक संक्रामक बीमारी है इसलिए इससे पीड़ित या पीड़तों के संपर्क में आने वालों लोगों को अलग रखा जा रहा है। विदेश से भारत आ रहे लोगों को भी लगभग दो हफ़्तों के लिए अलग रखा जा रहा है।
कुछ परिस्थितियों में लोगों को 'सेल्फ़-आइसोलेशन' ख़ुद से अलग रहने के लिए कहा जा रहा है। लेकिन अकेले रहना इतना आसान भी नहीं है। बीमारी और संक्रमण का डर अकेले रहने पर और भी ज़्यादा बढ़ने की आशंका रहती है। लेकिन क्या क्वरंटीन की प्रक्रिया या अलग-थलग रहना इतना मुश्किल है जितना लोगों को लग रहा है?
ये समझने के लिए बीबीसी ने प्रोफ़ेसर आशीष यादव से बात की जो हाल ही में चीन के वुहान से लौटे हैं। वुहान को ही कोरोना संक्रमण का केंद्र बताया जा रहा है। आशीष वुहान टेक्सटाइल यूनिवर्सिटी में एसोसिएट प्रोफ़ेसर के तौर पर काम करते थे। उनकी पत्नी वुहान में रहकर कंप्यूटर साइंस में पीएचडी कर रही थीं।
वुहान से भारत आने के बाद आशीष और नेहा को दिल्ली के छावला में आईटीबीपी (भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस बल) के 'सेल्फ़ आइसोलेशन सेंटर' में रखा गया था। आशीष और नेहा छावला के सेंटर में 27 फ़रवरी से 13 मार्च तक क्वरंटीन में रहे। सेंटर में रह रहे सभी 112 लोग जब कोरोना टेस्ट में निगेटिव पाए गए तब शनिवार को रवाना किया गया।
क्वरंटीन में ज़िंदगी : 27 फ़रवरी को आईटीबीपी के इस सेंटर 112 लोगों को लाया गया था जिसमें भारत के 76, बांग्लादेश के 23, चीन के 6, म्यांमार और मालदीव के 2-3, दक्षिण अफ़्रीका, मेडागास्कर और अमेरिका के 1-1 नागरिक थे। प्रेस इंफ़ॉर्मेशन ब्यूरो के अनुसार शिविर में 8 परिवार और 5 बच्चे भी थे।
आशीष बताते हैं कि 5 मंज़िल के इस कैंप में उन्हें और उनकी पत्नी को रहने के लिए एक कमरा दिया गया था। क्वरंटीन सेंटर में लोगों की दिनचर्या सुबह छह-साढ़े छह बजे के लगभग शुरू हो जाती थी।
सुबह की चाय के बाद 8 बजे के लगभग सभी को नाश्ता दिया जाता था और फिर थोड़ी देर में डॉक्टरों की एक टीम आकर सबका मेडिकल चेकअप करती थी। कोई दिक्कत महसूस होने पर लोगों को तुरंत हॉस्पिटल ले जाया जाता था।
आशीष बताते हैं, "रात में 8 बजे के लगभग हम खाने के लिए एक बड़े से डाइनिंग हॉल में इकट्ठे होते थे। हालांकि वहां पर भी हमें एक-दूसरे से निश्चित दूरी बनाए रखनी होती थी।"

मानसिक तनाव और डर : आशीष बताते हैं कि वुहान से आने के बाद शुरुआत के कुछ दिनों तक वो और उनकी पत्नी बहुत डरे हुए थे। वो बताते हैं, "जब तक हमारे कुछ शुरुआती टेस्ट की रिपोर्ट निगेटिव नहीं आई, हमें बहुत डरे हुए थे। सेंटर में भी कुछ लोगों को शेयरिंग बाथरूम और टॉयलेट दिए गए थे, इसलिए और ज़्यादा डर लगता था। कैंप में रहने वाले सभी लोग एक-दूसरे को देखकर यही सोचते रहते थे कि कहीं सामने वाले की रिपोर्ट पॉजिटिव न आ जाए।"
आशीष का कहना है कि उन्हें सबसे ज़्यादा वक़्त डाइनिंग हॉल में खाना खाते वक़्त लगता था। उन्होंने बताया कि हमें कमरे में खाने की इजाज़त नहीं थी इसलिए सभी लोग हॉल में इकट्ठे होते थे। भले वहां सब दूरी बनाकर बैठते लेकिन अगर किसी को ज़रा सी छींक या खांसी आ जाए तो सब घबरा जाते थे।
आशीष की पत्नी नेहा बताती हैं कि शुरू के कुछ दिनों में उन्हें डर और घबराहट की वजह से नींद भी नहीं आती थी। वो बताती हैं, "कई बार तो मैं और आशीष सारी रात बातें करते हुए बिताते थे। तनाव इतना था कि किसी से फ़ोन पर भी बात करने का मन नहीं होता था।"
आशीष और नेहा बताते हैं कि कैंप में 23 साल का एक युवक भी जिसका ब्लड प्रेशर काफ़ी बढ़ जाता था जिसे काबू में करने के लिए डॉक्टरों को काफ़ी मशक्कत करनी पड़ती थी। हालांकि कैंप में मनोचिकित्सक और मनोवैज्ञान भी थे जो ज़रूरत पड़ने पर लोगों की काउंसलिंग करते थे।
वक़्त काटना और मुश्किल होता : आशीष ने बताया कि लगभग सभी लोग डरे हुए थे इसलिए घबराहट, तनाव और चिड़चिड़ापन जैसी परेशानियां भी थीं। अच्छी बात ये है कि वहां हमारे लिए सायकाइट्रिस्ट और साइकोलॉजिस्ट भी थे। उन्हें बुलाने के लिए हमें सिर्फ़ एक फ़ोन करना होता था और वो आकर हमसे बातें करते थे, हमारी बातें सुनते थे।"
आशीष और नेहा कहते हैं कि अगर वो दोनों साथ न होकर अकेले होते तो उनके लिए ये वक़्त काटना और मुश्किल होता है। हालांकि अब क्वरंटीन की तय अवधि (लगभग 14 दिन) कैंप में बिताने के बाद दोनों उत्तर प्रदेश के एटा में अपने गांव आ गए हैं। घर में भी ऐहतियात के तौर पर उन्हें 10-12 दिन अकेले रहने को कहा गया है।
नेहा ने बताया कि अभी हम अलग कमरों में रह रहे हैं, अलग वॉशरूम और टॉयलेट इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं। हम न बाज़ार जा रहे हैं और न कहीं बाहर। अपने परिवार के लोगों के आस-पास भी हम बहुत कम ही जाते हैं। आशीष और नेहा से कहा गया है कि किसी भी तरह की परेशानी की स्थिति में वो ज़िले के सीएमओ से संपर्क करें।
क्वरंटीन को हौवा न बनाएं : दोनों अब काफ़ी बेहतर महसूस कर रहे हैं और इनका कहना है कि लोगों को क्वरंटीन या आइसोलेशन के नाम से डरने की ज़रूरत नहीं है।
आशीष ने कहा, "हम दोनों अपने अनुभव से बता सकते हैं कि अगर आप ठीक से तैयारी करें और ख़ुद को मानसिक रूप से थोड़ा मज़बूत बनाएं तो अलग रहने में कोई ख़ास परेशानी नहीं होगी। शुरू में अकेलापन और तनाव आप पर हावी हो सकता है, लेकिन धीरे-धीरे ये ठीक हो जाएगा।"
आशीष और नेहा कहते हैं कि अब उनका वुहान वापस जाने का कोई इरादा नहीं है। आशीष ने बताया कि मैंने अभी वुहान यूनिवर्सिटी से इस्तीफ़ा नहीं दिया है। अगले कुछ महीनों में मैं भारत में नौकरी ढूंढूंगा और यहां नौकरी मिलते ही मैं वुहान टेक्स्टाइल यूनिवर्सिटी से इस्तीफ़ा दे दूंगा। नेहा भी अपने रिसर्च का काम भारत से ही आगे बढ़ाएंगी।
