केरल में पिछले कुछ दिनों वैसा प्रदर्शन देखने को मिल रहा है, जो अमूमन देखने को नहीं मिलता है। इस प्रदर्शन में कई नन हर दिन कुछ घंटे के लिए प्रदर्शन के लिए जमा हो रही हैं। ये नन जालंधर के उस बिशप फ्रैंको मुलक्कल को गिरफ़्तार किए जाने की मांग कर रही हैं, जिन पर एक नन के साथ 6 मई, 2014 से 23 सितंबर, 2016 के बीच रेप करने का आरोप है।
हालांकि इस ईसाई मिशनरी ने कोच्चि में प्रदर्शन कर रहे ननों को प्रदर्शन में शामिल नहीं होने का आदेश दिया है। केरल कैथोलिक चर्च सुधार आंदोलन के जार्ज जोसेफ ने बीबीसी को बताया, "मिशनरीज के सामने ऐसा कहने के सिवा दूसरा रास्ता नहीं है, क्योंकि ये समूह सीधे तौर पर जालंधर बिशप के अधीन आता है जिसके प्रमुख बिशप मुलक्कल ही हैं।"
जोसेफ़ ने इससे पहले केरल हाइकोर्ट में नन की याचिका भी दाख़िल कराई थी। इससे पहले वह अपनी शिकायत लेकर पुलिस के पास गई थी क्योंकि चर्च प्रबंधकों ने उनकी शिकायत पर कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की थी। जब जोसेफ की याचिका पर कोर्ट में 10 अगस्त को सुनवाई हुई तब पुलिस ने कोर्ट को बताया था कि उसे नन के आरोपों के पक्ष में कुछ सबूत मिले हैं, जिसके बाद कोर्ट ने पुलिस को इस मामले में सावधानी से काम करने को कहा था।
हालांकि तब भी कोई कार्रवाई नहीं हुई, तो जोसेफ़ ने हाइकोर्ट में दूसरी याचिका दाख़िल की, जो डिविजन बेंच के सामने रखी गई। कोर्ट ने इस याचिका पर सुनवाई के लिए 13 सितंबर की तारीख़ तय की है।
ननों को मिल रहा है समर्थन
जोसेफ़ ने अदालत से चार अहम बिंदुओं पर ध्यान देने का अनुरोध किया है। जोसेफ़ ने कहा, "बिशप को तत्काल हिरासत में लिया जाए। जांच की निगरानी हाइकोर्ट के अधीन हो। बिशप मुलक्कल के विदेश जाने पर रोक लगाई जाए और यौन उत्पीड़न की पीड़िताओं की सुरक्षा के लिए प्रोटोकॉल बनाया जाए।"
वैसे ननों के प्रदर्शन की ख़ास बात ये है कि उसे समाज के दूसरे तबकों का भी साथ मिल रहा है। इनके समर्थन में प्रदर्शन में शामिल केरल हाइकोर्ट के सेवानिवृत जज कमाल पाशा ने बीबीसी से कहा, "पुसिस को अब तक अभियुक्त को हिरासत में लेना चाहिए। हाइकोर्ट के सामने जांच अधिकारी ने जो एफिडेविट दाख़िल किया है उसके मुताबिक बिशप को हिरासत में लेने के लिए पर्याप्त सबूत है।"
"मुझे लगता है कि इस मामले में नन का साथ देना चाहिए। वे लोग अभियुक्त को बचाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। उसने अभी तक अग्रिम ज़मानत की याचिका भी दाख़िल नहीं की है।"

ऐसे में एक बड़ा सवाल ये है कि चर्च का स्टैंड क्या है?
सायरो मालाबार चर्च के पूर्व प्रवक्ता फ़ाद पॉल थेलाकाठ ने बताया है, "शर्मनाक चुप्पी है, नन की शिकायत को कई महीने बीत चुके हैं। उन्होंने पुलिस के पास भी शिकायत की थी, लेकिन कोई कार्रवाई नहीं हुई।"
फ़ादर थेलाकाठ ने बताया, "कोई फ़ैसला नहीं सुना रहा है कि कौन सही है और कौन ग़लत। लेकिन चुप्पी पीड़ादायक है।"
पेशे से वकील और चर्च सुधार आंदोलन की सदस्य इंदुलेखा जोसेफ़ कहती हैं, "समस्या ये है कि ना तो सरकार और विपक्ष, दोनों में से कोई भी इस मुद्दे पर बोल नहीं रहा है क्योंकि सबको वोट बैंक की राजनीति करनी है। लोगों को लगता है कि बिशप का मतदाताओं पर प्रभाव है।"
हालांकि इसी मामले में राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने निर्दलीय विधायक पीसी जार्ज को नोटिस दिया है जिन्होंने पीड़िता को लेकर अपमानजनक टिप्पणी की थी।
