कुछ दिनों पहले दिल्ली के बुराड़ी में एक ही परिवार के 11 लोगों की मौत की घटना ने पूरे देश को हिलाकर रख दिया है। इस परिवार में बूढ़े, जवान और बच्चे सभी थे। तीन पीढ़ी के इस परिवार की एक साथ जान चली गई।
इसी परिवार की एक लड़की की अगले महीने शादी भी होने वाली थी। पुलिस की प्राथमिक जांच कहती है कि इस भयानक घटना में बाहर के किसी व्यक्ति का हाथ नहीं है।
'मोक्ष' पाने की एक भ्रामक चाह ने उन सभी को इतना बड़ा कदम उठाने और कथित तौर पर एक साथ अपनी जान लेने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया। परिवार के सदस्य ललित की आध्यात्म में ख़ास रुचि थी। उनकी डायरी में मोक्ष, मृत्यु के बाद का जीवन और उसे पाने के लिए किसी भी हद तक जाने की तैयारी, ये सभी बातें लिखी थीं।
सीसीटीवी फुटेज से पता चलता है कि परिवार ने खुद को फांसी पर लटकाने के लिए पड़ोसियों से स्टूल लिया था। ऊपर से देखें तो लगता है कि आखिर क्यों कोई सामान्य व्यक्ति ऐसा कदम उठाएगा। कोई क्यों एकसाथ इस तरह जान देगा। ऐसे में हमें इस घटना के पीछे के मनोविज्ञान और अंधविश्वास भरे व्यवहार को गहराई से देखने की ज़रूरत है।
घटना के पीछे का मनोविज्ञान
इसका एक कारण है कि हिंदू संस्कृति में सामान्य जीवन से ज्यादा मौत के बाद के जीवन को अधिक महत्व दिया जाना। यही कारण है कि हम अपने आस-पास ऐसे कई लोगों को देखते हैं जो आत्माओं से बात करने, पुनर्जन्म, मौत के अनुभव जैसी अवैज्ञानिक बातों पर विश्वास करते हैं।
इस तरह के विश्वास के कई पहलू हैं। जैसे कुछ लोगों को मौत के डर से बचने के लिए पुनर्जन्म जैसी बातों के भावनात्मक समर्थन की ज़रूरत होती है। ये बातें उनके दिमाग में इतने गहरे समाई होती हैं कि इनके साथ भी उनकी ज़िंदगी सामान्य तौर पर चलती रहती है। लेकिन, कुछ ही लोग होते हैं जिनमें असल और काल्पनिक में अंतर करने की क्षमता होती है। वहीं, कई लोग अपनी रोजमर्रा की परेशानियों का हल ढूंढने के लिए कल्पनाओं का सहारा लेते हैं।
वो सोचते हैं कि उनकी दिक्कतों के लिए किसी मृत व्यक्ति की आत्मा ज़िम्मेदार है। इसके लिए वो आत्मा की पूजा करते हैं या कोई भयानक कदम उठा लेते हैं या तंत्रों का सहारा लेते हैं। ऐसा अमूमन तब होता है जब किसी नजदीकी की मौत हो जाती है या परिवार के सदस्यों के बीच अनबन होती है।
क्या ये 'शेयर्ड साइकोसिस' है?
भाटिया परिवार में हुई इस घटना के पीछे भी यही मुख्य कारण नज़र आता है। जांच में सामने आया है कि साल 2008 में ललित के पिता की मृत्यु के बाद अंधविश्वास और उससे जुड़ी विधियों की तरफ उनका झुकाव बढ़ गया था। उन्हें महसूस होता था कि ध्यान लगाने पर उनके पिता उनसे बात करते हैं और बताते हैं कि उन्हें क्या करना है और क्या नहीं।
मरे हुए लोगों के साथ बात करना अपने आप में एक मानसिक रोग है। यह भ्रम की आप मरे हुए व्यक्ति की आवाज़ सुनते हैं या आपको उसके ज़िंदा होने का आभास होता है, तो ये एक तरह की मनोविकृति है। ऐसे मामलों में कोई शख्स अपने आपको हक़ीक़त से दूर कर लेता है और आभासी दुनिया में रहने लगता है। ललित का व्यवहार भी कुछ इसी तरह का था।
अब क्योंकि इन बातों पर दूसरों का भी भरोसा होता है इसलिए वो किसी की बीमारी नहीं पकड़ पाते। लोग सोचते हैं कि उस व्यक्ति में ख़ास शक्तियां हैं। ऐसे लोग परिवार के दूसरे सदस्यों पर भी प्रभाव डालते हैं। फिर वो भी कुछ-कुछ ऐसा ही अनुभव करने लगते हैं और ख़ुद को सच्चाई से दूर ले जाते हैं।
इसे मनोविज्ञान में 'शेयर्ड साइकोसिस' यानी एक से दूसरे में आया मनोविकार कहते हैं। मनोवैज्ञानिकों के पास ऐसे कई मामले आते हैं जहां पूरे परिवार पर इस कल्पना और भ्रम का असर पड़ा हो।

पूरी दुनिया में ऐसे मामले
ऐसे मामले सिर्फ़ भारत में ही नहीं, बल्कि अमेरिका, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, इंग्लैंड और अन्य देशों में भी सामने आते हैं। मेलबर्न में पांच सदस्यों के एक परिवार को अपना घर इसलिए छोड़कर जाना पड़ा क्योंकि उन्हें लगता था कि वहां उनमें से किसी की हत्या हो जाएगी।
'अपार्ट' नाम से एक फ़िल्म भी आई थी जिसमें 'शेयर्ड साइकोसिस' से जुड़ा मामला दिखाया गया था। इसमें एक कपल को लगता था कि उन्हें कोई मारने वाला है। लेकिन, समस्या तब पैदा होती है जब ऐसे हालातों में लोग इलाज से ज्यादा तंत्र-मंत्र पर भरोसा करने लगते हैं।
संभव है कि भाटिया परिवार में भी ऐसा हुआ हो। साथ ही शेयर्ड साइकोसिस से इतनी ज्यादा संख्या में एक साथ मरने वालों का ये पहला मामला भी हो सकता है। कभी-कभी ऐसी मान्यताओं के अतिवादी एक ख़ास पंथ भी बना लेते हैं। अंधविश्वास के ख़िलाफ़ काम करने वाले डॉ. दाभोलकर और गोविंद पनसारे को मारने वाले लोग ऐसी ही संस्था से जुड़े थे जो पंथ को बढ़ावा देता है।
कोलकाता का 'आनंद मार्ग' या जापान का ओम शिनरिकियो ऐसे ही पंथों के उदाहरण हैं। ओम शिनरिकियो के अनुनायियों ने 1995 में टोक्यो में जहरीली गैस छोड़ दी थी। उनका दावा था कि इसके जरिए 'हम अंतिम सत्य की तलाश कर रहे हैं।'
जापान की सरकार ने उन्हें अतिवादी घोषित कर दिया था और गिरफ़्तार कर लिया था।
कोई स्वर्ग नहीं है
बुराड़ी जैसी घटनाएं दोबारा न हों इसके लिए हमें कुछ प्रयास करने की ज़रूरत है। सबसे पहले ज़रूरी है कि हम पुनर्जन्म, आत्मा और दैवीय आत्माओं आदि अवैज्ञानिक बातों की आलोचना करें। मनोरंजन या कहानी सुनाने के लिए ये बातें कही जाएं तो समझा जा सकता है। लेकिन, इस आधार पर ज़िंदगी के महत्वपूर्ण फ़ैसले लेना ख़तरनाक होता है।
परेशानियां हर किसी की ज़िंदगी में होती हैं। लेकिन, उन्हें अपनी समझ और दोस्तों व रिश्तेदारों की मदद से सुलझाया जा सकता है। उनके लिए किसी को आत्महत्या जैसा कदम उठाने की ज़रूरत नहीं है।
भाटिया परिवार में किसी के भी दिमाग में नहीं आया कि मुंह, आंखों पर पट्टी बांधने, गले में रस्सी बांधने और स्टूल हटाने से क्या हो सकता है। इसका मतलब है कि अंधविश्वास को लेकर उनके दिमाग में कोई सवाल नहीं था।
हमें समाज में इस व्यवहार के लिए आलोचना पैदा करनी होगी। अगर कोई एक भी ऐसी बातों का आंख मूंदकर अनुकरण करता है तो वो पूरे समाज में इसे फैला सकता है। साथ ही मानसिक बीमारियों को लेकर बनी हुई नकारात्मक सोच और अनदेखी को बदलना होगा। अगर लोग इसे एक कलंक मानेंगे तो इसका इलाज करना संभव नहीं होगा।
अगर इन मामलों में डॉक्टर के पास आया जाए तो बुराड़ी जैसी घटना को रोका जा सकता है। असल में हमें किसी स्वर्ग, मोक्ष या पुनर्जन्म की ज़रूरत नहीं है। एक संतुष्ट जीवन के लिए बस हमें सुख और दुख के मिश्रण की ज़रूरत है।
