"यह बिहार है। कौन कैसा है और कितना प्रतिभाशाली है, ये उस व्यक्ति के काम की तुलना में उसकी जाति से समझना लोग ज़्यादा प्रामाणिक मानते हैं। जब व्यक्ति सवर्ण नहीं हो और उसकी प्रतिभा की चर्चा हो रही हो तो बिहार में उन्हीं सवर्णों के कान खड़े हो जाते हैं। लोग उसकी क़ाबिलियत पर सवाल खड़ा करने लगते हैं।"
जब मैं सुपर 30 के संस्थापक आनंद कुमार के गांव देवधा के लिए निकला तो पटना यूनिवर्सिटी में अंग्रेज़ी के प्रोफ़ेसर शिवजतन ठाकुर की यह बात मेरे मन में कौंध रही थी। देवधा पटना से क़रीब 25 किलोमीटर दूर है। इस गांव को लोग जितना देवधा नाम से जानते हैं उससे ज़्यादा आनंद के गांव के रूप में।
गांव में पहुंचते ही एक घर दिखा। घर के बाहर एक रिटायर्ड शिक्षक मोहन प्रकाश (बदला हुआ नाम) बैठे थे। उनसे मैंने पूछा कि यह आनंद जी का गांव है तो उन्होंने ग़ुस्से में कहा, ''इस गांव में और लोग भी रहते हैं। आनंद तो रहता भी नहीं है। गांव का नाम देवधा है। केवल आनंद का गांव मत कहिए।''
मैंने कहा- आप तो नाराज़ हो गए?
उन्होंने कहा, ''पूरा उलट-पुलट के रख दिया है। पहले गांव में हम लोगों की इज़्ज़त थी, प्रतिष्ठा थी। कितना मेलजोल था। अब तो कहारों का मन आनंद ने इतना बढ़ा दिया है कि पूछिए मत। उसके पिताजी बहुत सज्जन आदमी थे। वो बहुत इज़्ज़त देते थे।'' उनके घर की दो महिलाएं भी उनकी बातों से सहमति जताते दिखीं।
मोहन प्रकाश को अफ़सोस है कि आनंद की शादी उनकी जाति की एक लड़की से हुई है। वो कहते हैं, ''भूमिहार की बेटी से शादी कर लिया तो क्या हो गया? लड़की भी तो कहार ही बन गई। मुसलमान से शादी करके आप मुसलमान ही होइएगा न कि हिंदू हो जाइएगा? हमको पता है कि बड़े घर की बेटी से शादी किया है। आजकल के बच्चे मां-बाप के बस में हैं का? आप हैं अपने मां-बाप के बस में? चाहे जिससे शादी कर लीजिए आप जो थे वही रहिएगा। रस्सी जल जाती है, लेकिन ऐंठन नहीं जाती है। आपको ई बात पता है न?''
देवधा में भूमिहार और कहार बहुसंख्यक जातियां हैं। गांव का ही एक दलित युवा देव पासवान (बदला हुआ नाम) मिला। वो आनंद कुमार के रामानुजम क्लासेस में पढ़ चुकें है। आनंद पटना में सुपर 30 के अलावा एक रामानुजम क्लासेस भी चलाते हैं। यहां पैसे लेकर पढ़ाया जाता है। आनंद का कहना है कि वो इसी पैसे से सुपर 30 चलाते हैं।
देव पासवान से पूछा कि आनंद को लेकर मोहन इतने ग़ुस्से में क्यों हैं?
उन्होंने कहा, ''भैया, आनंद सर को लेकर गांव के भूमिहार ग़ुस्से में रहते हैं। जिस सड़क पर आप खड़े हैं, उसे कहारों की टोली में नहीं जाने दिया गया। कहारों की नाली भी इन्होंने नहीं बनने दी। इन्हें लगता है कि एक कहार का बेटा इतना आगे कैसे बढ़ गया।''
हालांकि देव पासवान को अफ़सोस है कि उनके गांव के किसी बच्चे का आज तक सुपर 30 में एडमिशन नहीं हुआ। देव की बात से सहमति जताते हुए एक महिला ने कहा, ''चलिए हम लोग तो भूमिहार हैं पर अपनी जाति के बच्चों का भी एडमिशन नहीं लिया।''...हालांकि देव इस तर्क से संतुष्ट दिखते हैं कि उनके गांव का कोई स्टूडेंट सुपर 30 की प्रवेश परीक्षा में पास ही नहीं हुआ तो एडमिशन कहां से होगा।
देवधा में ग़ैर-सवर्णों के बीच आनंद किसी हीरो से कम नहीं हैं। कुछ लोग तो आनंद की बात करके भावुक तक हो गए। हालांकि इन्हें भी इस बात का अफ़सोस है कि उनके गांव का एक भी स्टूडेंट सुपर 30 में नहीं पढ़ा। आनंद कुमार का कहना है कि वो अपने गांव के नाम पर बिना प्रवेश परीक्षा पास किए किसी का सुपर 30 में एडमिशन नहीं ले सकते।
उत्तम सेनगुप्ता पटना में 1991 में टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया के स्थानीय संपादक थे। उन्हें वो दिन आज भी याद है जब पटना साइंस कॉलेज में मैथ्स डिपार्टमेंट के एचओडी देवीप्रसाद वर्मा का फ़ोन आया। उत्तम सेनगुप्ता कहते हैं, ''देवी प्रसाद वर्मा ने कहा कि वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह मेरे पहले जीनियस स्टूटेंड थे और अब मुझे आनंद भी ऐसा ही दिखता है। इसकी तुम मदद करो।''
सेनगुप्ता ने एक दिन आनंद कुमार को अपने ऑफ़िस बुलाया। उन्होंने आनंद से बात की तो लगा कि इस लड़के में दम है। तब आनंद बीएन कॉलेज से ग्रैजुएशन की पढ़ाई कर रहे थे। सेनगुप्ता ने उन्हें टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया के सप्लीमेंट करियर टाइम्स में मैथ्स का क्विज़ चलाने की ज़िम्मेदारी दी। वो क्विज दो सालों तक चला। आनंद ही क्विज का नतीजा निकालते थे और सही जवाब देते थे।
सेनगुप्ता का कहना है कि मैथ्स का वो क्विज बिहार में काफ़ी हिट रहा। उसी दौरान आनंद ने मैथ्स पढ़ाना शुरू कर दिया था। सुपर 30 के साथ एक और व्यक्ति का नाम आता है और वो हैं अभयानंद। तब अभयानंद बिहार के डीआईजी थे।
उत्तम सेनगुप्ता की पत्नी अभयानंद की क्लासमेट थीं इसलिए सेनगुप्ता अभयानंद को भी जानते थे। अभयानंद को अपनी बेटी और बेटे के लिए मैथ्स के अच्छे टीचर की तलाश थी। उत्तम सेनगुप्ता ने अभयानंद से कहा कि बिहार में अभी आनंद से अच्छा टीचर कोई नहीं है।
उनकी बेटी और बेटे को मैथ्स पढ़ाने की बात को लेकर ही आनंद कुमार और अभयानंद की पहली मुलाक़ात हुई। अभयानंद भी इस बात को स्वीकार करते हैं कि आनंद से उनकी पहली मुलाक़ात उत्तम सेनगुप्ता की वजह से ही हुई। उत्तम सेनगुप्ता का कहना है कि आनंद कुमार अभयानंद के घर पर ही पढ़ाने जाने लगे।
आनंद कुमार का भी कहना है कि उनकी बेटी और बेटे को उन्होंने मैथ्स अपने और उनके घर पर पढ़ाया। अभयानंद की बेटी और बेटे का चयन आईआईटी के लिए हुआ। हालांकि अभयानंद इस बात को स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं कि उनकी बेटी और बेटे को आनंद कुमार ने पढ़ाया है।
उत्तम सेनगुप्ता कहते हैं, ''1993 में आनंद को यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ कैंब्रिज से एडमिशन के लिए लेटर आया। उसे 6 लाख रुपए की तत्काल ज़रूरत थी। मैंने तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव से बात की और कहा कि बिहार का होनहार लड़का है, बहुत नाम करेगा, इसकी आप मदद कीजिए। लालू ने कहा कि आप कह रहे हैं तो ज़रूर मदद करूंगा, उसे मेरे पास भेज दीजिए। मैंने आनंद को कहा कि जाओ लालूजी से मिल लो। वो मिलने गए तो उसे शिक्षा मंत्री के पास भेज दिया गया। शिक्षा मंत्री ने अपने पीए से पांच हज़ार रुपए देने के लिए कहा।''
सेनगुप्ता कहते है, ''आनंद मेरे पास ग़ुस्से में आया और कहा कि सर, अब मुझे दोबारा किसी मंत्री के पास जाने के लिए नहीं कहिएगा। वो बहुत अपमानित महसूस कर रहा था। कैंब्रिज नहीं जा पाया। उसके बाद उसने मैथ्स पर मौलिक काम करना जारी रखा। वो बच्चों को पढ़ा भी रहा था। उसकी पढ़ाई से बच्चे इतने ख़ुश थे कि पढ़ने वालों की संख्या लगातार बढ़ती गई। इसके साथ ही उसने विदेशी जर्नल में भी अपना काम भेजना शुरू किया। उसके पेपर मैथेमैटिकल स्पेक्ट्रम में प्रकाशित भी हुए।''
इसी महीने आनंद कुमार से मुलाक़ात के बाद बिहार के पूर्व उपमुख्यमंत्री और लालू प्रसाद के छोटे बेटे तेजस्वी यादव ने कहा था कि आनंद को अति पिछड़ी जाति के होने के कारण परेशान किया जा रहा है। लेकिन आनंद उनके पिता के मुख्यमंत्री रहते ही पैसे के अभाव में कैंब्रिज नहीं जा पाए। ज़ाहिर है तब भी आनंद अति पिछड़ी जाति के ही थे।
बिहार में आनंद कुमार पर लोग बहुत शक करते हैं। ये शक आख़िर क्यों है?
प्रोफ़सेर शिवजतन ठाकुर का कहना है कि यह शक सवर्णों के बीच ज़्यादा है और ऐसा दुराग्रह के कारण है। हालांकि पटना यूनिवर्सिटी में ही अर्थशास्त्र के प्रोफ़ेसर नवल किशोर चौधरी कहते हैं कि अगर आनंद की जाति को लेकर उसे निशाना बनाया जा रहा है तो यह बिल्कुल ग़लत है, लेकिन उससे पारदर्शिता की मांग की जा रही है तो इसमें जाति को लाना तार्किक नहीं है।

प्रोफ़ेसर चौधरी कहते हैं सत्य सवर्ण या अवर्ण नहीं होता है और सत्य की मांग हर किसी से की जानी चाहिए। ज़्यादातर लोग इस बात पर भरोसा नहीं करते हैं कि आनंद को कैंब्रिज से बुलावा आया था। इस बात पर भी भरोसा नहीं करते हैं कि उनका मौलिक काम विदेशी जर्नल में छपा है। इन सारे शकों को मैंने आनंद कुमार के सामने रखा तो उन्होंने कैंब्रिज का लेटर और विदेशी जर्नल में छपे अपने काम की प्रति बीबीसी को सौंप दी।
आनंद ने बीबीसी को कैंब्रिज का जो लेटर दिया है उस साल 1993 लिखा हुआ है जबकि बिजू मैथ्यु की किताब 'सुपर 30 चेंजिंग द वर्ल्ड 30 स्टूडेंट एट ए टाइम' में दिए इंटरव्यू में उन्होंने कहा है कि 1994 में कैंब्रिज के लिए आवेदन किया था। आख़िर कैंब्रिज के लेटर पर छपी तारीख़ से उन्होंने अलग तारीख़ क्यों बताई थी? आनंद का कहना है कि यह किताब में मिसप्रिंट का मामला है।
आनंद कुमार पर लोग इतना शक क्यों करते हैं?
उत्तम सेन गुप्ता का कहना है कि दरअसल, यह शक नहीं करना है बल्कि टारगेट करना है। सेनगुप्ता कहते हैं, ''लोग इस बात को पचा नहीं पाते हैं कि अति पिछड़ी जाति का यह लड़का इतना कैसे कर सकता है। ऐसा नहीं है कि आनंद की कोई स्क्रूटनी नहीं हुई है। मैं नहीं मानता कि वो पिछले 20 सालों से लोगों को बेवकूफ़ बना रहा है। न्यूयॉर्क टाइम्स और जापानी मीडिया ने इस पर एक महीने तक काम किया।''
उत्तम सेन गुप्ता कहते हैं कि आनंद को टारगेट किए जाने के पीछे एक कारण उनकी पत्नी का अपर कास्ट का होना है। वो कहते हैं, ''जब उसकी शादी हुई तब भी काफ़ी हंगामा हुआ था। मैंने कई बार उसे सलाह दी कि बिहार छोड़ दो, क्योंकि यह उसके लिए सुरक्षित नहीं है। उस पर हमले भी हुए। बॉडीगार्ड रखना पड़ा।''
आनंद कुमार ने अपनी पत्नी को भी मैथ्स पढ़ाया है। ऋतु और आनंद की शादी 2008 में हई थी। ऋतु को आनंद का मैथ्स पढ़ाने का तरीक़ा बहुत पसंद था। ऋतु का कहना है कि जो आनंद से मैथ्स पढ़ा है वही जानता है कि कितना शानदार टीचर हैं।
ऋतु का चयन भी 2003 में बीएचयू आईटी के लिए हुआ। ऋतु कहती हैं कि जो आनंद की प्रतिभा पर शक करते हैं उनके तर्क वो नहीं समझ पातीं, लेकिन वो इतना ज़रूर जानती हैं कि प्रतिभा से प्रभावित होकर ही उन्होंने अंतरजातीय विवाह करने का फ़ैसला किया था।
ऋतु रश्मि आनंद को एक शानदार पति मानती हैं या शानदार टीचर? ऋतु खुलकर हंसते हुए कहती हैं- शानदार टीचर। ऋतु रश्मि ये भी बताती हैं कि अभयानंद ने उनकी शादी में बहुत मदद की थी। ऋतु रश्मि अपने बेटे, पति और देवर की जान को लेकर डरी हुई हैं।
उन्होंने कहा, ''कई बार मेरी कोशिश रही है कि हमलोग बिहार छोड़ दें। बच्चे होने के बाद तो हमलोग और डरे रहते हैं। ये बिहार छोड़ने के लिए तैयार ही नहीं होते हैं। बिहार से जाति तो अभी ख़त्म होने से रही। केवल हमलोग की कोशिश से जाति नहीं ख़त्म हो जाएगी। शादी के पहले जातीय भेदभाव का अंदाज़ा इस स्तर का बिल्कुल नहीं था।''
ऋतु कहती हैं, ''शादी के पहले तो हमें किसी जातीय भेदभाव का सामना नहीं करना पड़ा था, इसलिए भी इसका अहसास नहीं था। जब तक इंसान ख़ुद नहीं झेलता है तब तक इसका अंदाज़ा भी नहीं होता। शादी होने के बाद पता चला कि जातीय भेदभाव कितना मजबूत है। जातिवाद बहुत गहरा है और इससे बहुत डर लगता है।''
ऋतु कहती हैं, ''आनंद की पूरी मेहनत को पिछले 10 सालों से हड़पने की कोशिश की गई और हम इससे जूझते रहे। अब जब नहीं हो पाया तो झूठ और मीडिया का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है। हमलोग बहुत डरे हुए हैं। मेरे पति और देवर की जान का भी ख़तरा है। जो बॉडीगार्ड हमें मिला है, उसे भी हटाने की कोशिश की गई है। कई बार हमें डर लगता है कि बेटे को कोई अगवा न कर ले।''
उत्तम सेन गुप्ता कहते हैं कि अगर आनंद के प्रति सवर्णों में पूर्वग्रह को देखना है तो इस उदाहरण से बख़ूबी समझा जा सकता है।
वो बताते हैं, ''वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह की प्रतिभा को अंतरराष्ट्रीय ख्याति मिली। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि उनकी प्रतिभा को मौक़ा मिला। मौक़ा इसलिए मिला क्योंकि वो अच्छी फैमिली से भी थे। उनकी शादी भी एक रसूख वाले परिवार में हुई। एक और बात उनके पक्ष में जाती है कि वो सवर्ण हैं। मानसिक स्थिति बिगड़ जाने के कारण वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह समाज को बहुत दे नहीं पाए। आज भी वो अपनी दिमाग़ी हालत से जूझ रहे हैं।''
सेनगुप्ता कहते हैं, ''वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह के बारे में बिहार में हर कोई इज़्ज़त से बात करता है जबकि आनंद पर लोग शक करते हैं। आनंद ने बिहार से दर्जनों वैसे बच्चों को आईआईटी तक पहुंचाया जो प्रतिभा होने के बावजूद ग़रीबी के कारण पढ़ नहीं पा रहे थे। आख़िर ऐसा क्यों है? ऐसा इसलिए है कि आनंद पैसे कमाता है, उसने एकाधिकार को चुनौती दी है। ऐसा इसलिए भी कि वो सवर्ण नहीं है।''
आनंद कुमार और उनकी सुपर 30 पर फ़िल्मकार विकास बहल फ़िल्म बना रहे हैं। इस फ़िल्म में अभिनेता रितिक रोशन आनंद कुमार की भूमिका में हैं। एक तरफ़ इस फ़िल्म की शूटिंग चल रही है और दूसरी तरफ़ बिहार में आनंद कुमार की भूमिका को लेकर विवाद। बिहार के कई कोचिंग संस्थानों, मीडिया और बिहार के पूर्व डीजीपी अभयानंद के आनंद कुमार और सुपर 30 पर कई आरोप हैं।
अभयानंद और आनंद कुमार में मतभेद क्यों?
आनंद कुमार का कहना है कि जब उनकी रामानुजम क्लासेस में पढ़ने वालों की संख्या लगातार बढ़ती गई तो पटना के दूसरे कोचिंग वालों ने हमला भी कराया। आनंद कुमार इस बात को आज भी स्वीकार करते हैं कि अभयानंद ने उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान की। अभयानंद का कहना है कि उनकी मैथ्स में और पढ़ाने को लेकर दिलचस्पी थी इसलिए आनंद से मिलना जुलना बढ़ता गया। अभयानंद का कहना है कि 2002 में सुपर 30 का पहला बैच आया और वो उसी साल से वहां नियमित तौर पर जाने लगे।
अभयानंद कहते हैं, ''2002 से 2005 तक सब कुछ ठीक रहा। तब सुपर 30 और रामानुजम में कोई घालमेल नहीं था। एक आनंद के घर जक्कनपुर में चलता था और दूसरा कंकड़बाग के भूतनाथ रोड पर। 2003, 2004 और 2005 का रिजल्ट बिल्कुल फ़ेयर रहा। 2006 में मुझसे उन्होंने कहा कि अलग-अलग जगह होने के कारण बहुत दिक़्क़त होती है, क्यों न एक ही जगह पर दोनों कर लिया जाए। मैंने कहा कि ठीक है। पर 2006 और 2007 वाले रिजल्ट में लगा कि इसमें घालमेल है।''
अभयानंद कहते हैं, ''इसके बाद से कन्फ़्यूजन बढ़ने लगा। मैंने सुपर 30 के लिए 2002 से 2008 तक काम किया और फिर अलग हो गया। इसका एक कारण तो यह था कि पारदर्शिता कम होती गई और दूसरी वजह यह कि मुझे बहुत वक़्त भी नहीं मिलता था। 2007 के बाद मुझे लगा कि रामानुजम और सुपर 30 में घालमेल बढ़ गया है, क्योंकि दोनों को एक ही जगह शिफ्ट कर दिया गया था। मैंने इसे लेकर बात भी की थी, लेकिन उन्होंने कहा कि सर, इन्हें भी पढ़ा दीजिए सब ग़रीब बच्चे हैं।''
अभयानंद से पूछा कि ये सुपर 30 का आइडिया किसका था? उनका या आनंद कुमार का?
इसके जवाब में उन्होंने कहा, ''मैं अपने मुंह से इस बारे में कुछ नहीं कहना चाहता हूं। हालांकि मैं एक संदर्भ का ज़िक्र कर रहा हूं और उसी से आप समझ लीजिए। ये सज्जन 1994 से पढ़ा रहे हैं और उस वक़्त सुपर 30 नहीं थी। मैंने औपचारिक रूप से बच्चों को पढ़ाना 2002 में शुरू किया और 2002 में ही सुपर 30 का पहला बैच बना। मैं किसी व्यक्ति के बारे में बात नहीं करना चाहता। मुझे दुख बस इस बात का है कि सुपर 30 एक बिग आइडिया था जिसे निजी संपत्ति बना दिया गया।''

बिहार के पत्रकारों का भी कहना है कि आनंद कुमार सुपर 30 में पढ़ने वाले स्टूडेंट की सूची जारी नहीं करते हैं। इन पत्रकारों की मांग है कि आनंद जब सुपर 30 में 30 स्टूडेंट का चयन करते हैं तो उसकी लिस्ट दें और जब आईआईटी का रिजल्ट आता है तब की लिस्ट दें। आख़िर आनंद ऐसा करने से क्यों बचते हैं? और आनंद से ऐसी मांग क्यों की जाती है?
यही सवाल आनंद कुमार से पूछा तो उन्होंने कहा, ''जब सुपर 30 शुरू हुआ तो बच्चों को पढ़ाने अभयानंद भी आते थे। वो फिजिक्स भी पढ़ाते थ, लेकिन ज़्यादातर मोटिवेशन क्लास लेते थे। बीएन कॉलेज में मैथ्स डिपार्टमेंट के एचओडी रहे बालगंगाधर प्रसाद भी आते थे। सुपर 30 के रिजल्ट अच्छे आने लगे। मीडिया में बहुत नाम हुआ। जापान और अमरीका से पत्रकार आने लगे। अचानक से अभयानंद ने अख़बारों से कहा कि वो आनंद और सुपर 30 से अलग हो रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आनंद से अब पढ़ने-पढ़ाने का कोई रिश्ता नहीं रहा। हमलोग उनका बहुत सम्मान करते रहे हैं। वो हमारे लिए पिता तुल्य रहे हैं क्योंकि बहुत मदद की है।''
आनंद कहते हैं, ''एक बार हमलोग पर हमला हुआ था तो उस वक़्त भी अभयानंद जी ने मदद की। अचानक 2008 में अभयानंद जी ने नाराज़गी ज़ाहिर की। मैंने इस बात को सार्वजनिक नहीं किया, लेकिन उन्होंने मीडिया में ख़ूब बयान दिया। मैंने कई ऐसे इंटरव्यू अभयानंद जी के देखे जिनसे लगा कि वो कह रहे हों कि सुपर 30 को उन्होंने ही खड़ा किया है। हालांकि बाद में चीज़ें साफ़ हो गईं।''
अभयानंद के आरोप पर आनंद कुमार कहते हैं, ''जहां तक लिस्ट की बात है तो उसे हमने कई बार सार्वजनिक किया है। रिजल्ट के पहले भी और रिजल्ट के बाद भी ऐसा किया है। अगर मेरे काम के ऊपर किसी को शक है तो उन्हें मुझसे अच्छा काम करके मिसाल कायम करनी चाहिए। मैंने आज तक किसी का कुछ नहीं बिगाड़ा और जिस तरह से मैंने पढ़ाई की है उसका दर्द मैं ही जान सकता हूं। मैंने अब तक का जीवन पटना के 10 किलोमीटर के रेडियस में जिया है और यहीं अमरीका, जापान और जर्मनी के पत्रकार मिलने आए। अब अभयानंद जी कई सुपर 30 चलाते हैं और मुझे अच्छा लगता है कि उनके यहां से भी बच्चों का भला हो रहा है।''
आनंद का कहना है कि जो इंसान हार जाता है वही शिकायत करता है और उन्हें कभी हार नहीं मिली इसलिए किसी की शिकायत करने का कोई मतलब नहीं है।
आनंद कहते हैं, ''मैं हर आरोप का जवाब दूं या बच्चों को पढ़ाऊं? कोई ग़रीब का बच्चा या जिसकी कोई पहचान नहीं है उसका बच्चा आगे बढ़ता है तो उसे परेशान किया जाता है। लोग विरोध कर रहे थे, लेकिन जब फ़िल्म बनने की बात आई तभी क्यों कैंपेन चलाया गया। क्यों लोग कहने लगे कि उन्हें भी फ़िल्म में लाया जाए। मेरे लोगों को फ़ेसबुक पर लिखने का आरोप लगाकर जेल में बंद कर दिया गया। मैं तब भी चुप हूं। वक़्त ही न्याय करेगा।''
आनंद कहते हैं, ''कई बार आरोप लगाया गया कि सुपर 30 में अपर कास्ट के बच्चे नहीं होते हैं। जो ऐसा कहते हैं वो पूरी तरह से झूठे हैं। मैंने तो जाति तोड़ी है। मैंने अंतरजातीय विवाह किया। मेरे भाई ने भी ऐसा ही किया। बिहार का दुर्भाग्य है कि यहां प्रतिभा की पहचान जाति के आधार पर होती है।''
आनंद से फिर वही सवाल दोहराया कि आप सूची जारी क्यों नहीं करते हैं?
उन्होंने कहा, ''मैं हर साल सूची जारी करता हूं और अख़बार वालों को देता हूं। इस साल फ़िल्म को लेकर इतना प्रेशर था कि कई चीज़ें नहीं हो पाईं। पटना में कोचिंग वाले बच्चों की ख़रीद फ़रोख्त शुरू कर देते हैं, इस वजह से भी गोपनीयता बरतनी पड़ती है।''
आनंद कुमार कहते हैं, ''पिछले दो महीने में मेरा बॉडीगार्ड वापस ले लिया गया। मैंने पुलिस में जाकर कहा कि मेरी हत्या हो सकती है तब फिर से बहाल किया गया। आख़िर वो कौन लोग हैं जो मेरा बॉडीगार्ड हटवा दे रहे हैं? उन्हें मेरे बॉडीगार्ड से क्या दिक़्क़त है? सुपर 30 में पढ़ने वालों बच्चों को डराया धमकाया जाता है ताकि मैं लिस्ट सार्वजनिक नहीं कर पाऊं। कोई तो इन सबके पीछे है? इन सबका एक ही जवाब है कि आनंद पर फ़िल्म बन रही है और उसे किसी तरह रोका जाए। मैं इस बार रिजल्ट आने से पहले बच्चों की लिस्ट दूंगा और उसमें बीबीसी को सबसे पहले दूंगा।''
अभयानंद की ये भी आपत्ति है कि मीडिया वाले आनंद कुमार को गणितज्ञ क्यों लिखते हैं। उनका कहना है कि गणितज्ञ रामानुजम थे न कि आनंद कुमार। आनंद कुमार का कहना है कि वो भी ख़ुद को गणितज्ञ नहीं मानते हैं। आनंद ने कहा कि उनकी गणित में दिलचस्पी है और बच्चों को पढ़ाते हैं। आनंद कुमार की मां कहती हैं कि उन्हें याद है कि सुपर 30 को उनके बेटे ने किस तरह से खड़ा किया है।
वो कहती हैं जब अभयानंद पढ़ाने आते थे तो बच्चे उन्हें पसंद नहीं करते थे। बच्चे कहते थे, - 'आ गया माथा खाने।' आनंद के भाई प्रणव कुमार से पूछा कि बच्चे ऐसा क्यों कहते थे तो उन्होंने कहा कि अभयानंद मोटिवेशनल क्लास लेने आते थे और बच्चों को ये क्लास बहुत पसंद नहीं आती थी।''
पूरे विवाद पर सुपर 30 में पढ़ने वाले बच्चों का क्या कहना है?
अभिषेक अभी दिल्ली आईआईटी में अभी पढ़ाई कर रहे हैं। वो आनंद कुमार की सुपर 30 में 2014-15 बैच में थे।
इस पूरे विवाद पर उनका कहना है, ''सुपर 30 को लेकर लोग कुछ ज़्यादा ही बात करते हैं और इसलिए उनकी बातों में हक़ीक़त से ज़्यादा धारणा होती है। लोगों को यह पता होना चाहिए कि सुपर 30 में बिहार के 30 ब्रिलिएंट बच्चों का दाखिला होता है। ऐसे में 30 में से 25 या 27 या 30 का भी आईआईटी में एडमिशन होना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है। बड़ी बात यह है कि इन बच्चों एक आदमी अपने खर्चे पर ख़ुद की निगरानी में रखता है।''
अभिषेक कहते हैं, ''मेरे टाइम में शायद 22 बच्चों का आईआईटी में एडमिशन हुआ था। रामानुजम और सुपर 30 को लेकर कई बार इसलिए भी कन्फ़्यूजन बढ़ता है क्योंकि बीच में भी रामानुजम से बच्चों को सुपर 30 में लाया जाता है। इसकी दो वजहें हैं। एक तो यह कि कई बार कुछ लोग सुपर 30 छोड़ जाते हैं तो उसे पूरा करने के लिए ऐसा किया जाता है। दूसरी वजह ये है कि रामानुजम क्लासेस में कोई बहुत ही मेधावी छात्र आ जाता है तो उसे यहां आने का ऑफर दिया जाता है। जो आरोप लगाते हैं कि रिजल्ट का घालमेल किया जाता है तो उन्हें पता होना चाहिए कि दोनों के रिजल्ट मिला देने के बाद 30 ही नहीं रहेगा, ये और ज़्यादा हो जाएगा।''
हन्ज़ाला शफ़ी सुपर 30 में 2012-13 के बैच में थे। शफ़ी का कहना है कि कई बार सुपर 30 में कुछ वैसे बच्चे भी आ जाते हैं जो उस लेवल के नहीं होते हैं। ऐसे में उन्हें रामानुजम क्लासेस भेज दिया जाता है और दूसरे बच्चे को सुपर 30 में लाया जाता है।
शफ़ी का भी कहना है कि उसके बैच से 28 लोगों का आईआईटी में एडमिशन हुआ था। शफ़ी और अभिषेक दोनों का कहना है कि आनंद कुमार के मैथ्स पढ़ाने का तरीक़ा उन्हें बहुत पंसद है। अभिषेक का कहना है, ''मैं ऐसा नहीं कहूंगा कि वो सबसे बेहतर टीचर हैं, लेकिन हमारी जो ज़रूरत होती है उसके लिए वो ज़रूर बेहतर हैं।''
हालांकि दोनों कहते हैं आनंद कुमार बच्चों को बहुत टाइम नहीं दे पाते हैं, क्योंकि वक़्त के साथ उनकी व्यस्तता और बढ़ी है। पंकज कपाड़िया सुपर 30 के 2005-06 बैच में थे। तब अभयानंद भी थे। पंकज को अभयानंद और आनंद दोनों से पढ़ने का मौक़ा मिला। पंकज का दिल्ली आईआईटी में एडमिशन हुआ था। अब पंकज ने ख़ुद ही पटना में आईआईटी तपस्या नाम से एक कोचिंग खोल लिया है।
पूरे विवाद पर वो कहते हैं, ''हमारे समय में सुपर 30 का आइडिया कुछ अलग था। 2006 में आठ अप्रैल को हमलोग की आईआईटी की प्रवेश परीक्षा थी और 2005 में एक नवंबर को सुपर 30 में गए थे। आख़िरी के पांच महीने में पढ़ाकर कोई आईआईटी तो नहीं भेज सकता है। सच कहिए तो शायद ही क्लास की तरह दो चार क्लास हुई हों। सच यह है कि 30 मेधावी बच्चों को एक प्लेटफॉर्म मिला। मेरा रहना खाना फ़्री था। उसका खर्च आनंद सर देते थे। मैं पहले रामानुजम का ही स्टूडेंट था और बाद में सुपर 30 आया।''
पंकज कहते हैं, ''हमारे टाइम में नियमित रूप से टेस्ट होते थे। अभयानंद सर टाइम टु टाइम विजिट करते थे। जो भी बच्चे वहां आते हैं उन्हें पहले से ही फिजिक्स, कमेस्ट्री और मैथ्स की बहुत अच्छी समझ होती है। ऐसा नहीं है कि सुपर 30 में लोगों को बुनियादी स्तर से सिखाया जाता है। नियमित तौर पर टेस्ट का होना बहुत अच्छा आइडिया था। ये आइडिया अभयानंद सर का ही था।''
पंकज कपाड़िया बतौर टीचर आनंद और अभयानंद को कैसे देखते हैं?
पंकज कहते हैं, ''आनंद सर ने मुझे पूरा मैथ्स पढ़ाया। उन्होंने मुझे बहुत अच्छा पढ़ाया और ये कहने में कोई परेशानी नहीं है। आज भी मैं जो मैथ्स जानता हूं उसमें आनंद सर की बड़ी भूमिका है। इसमें कोई शक नहीं है कि आनंद सर आईआईटी लेवल का मैथ्स बहुत बढ़िया पढ़ाते हैं। अभयानंद सर के साथ है कि वो फ़िजिक्स पढ़ाते हैं पर वहीं तक सीमित नहीं रहते हैं। वो फ़िजिक्स पर सोचना बताते हैं। सुपर 30 में पहुंचने वाले बच्चों के पास क्लास में सवाल बहुत कम होते हैं क्योंकि वो पहले से ही मेधावी होते हैं। सुपर 30 की सबसे बड़ी सफलता यही है कि 30 मेधावी बच्चों को एक प्लेटफॉर्म पर ला दिया जाता है।''
कपाड़िया का कहना है कि सुपर 30 को जो लोग रेग्युलर क्लासरूम टीचिंग की तरह देखते हैं वो ग़लत हैं। कपाड़िया रामानुजम और सुपर 30 में घालमेल के आरोप पर कहते हैं कि उन्हें इस बारे बहुत ठोस जानकारी नहीं है।
बालगंगाधर प्रसाद बीएन कॉलेज में आनंद कुमार के टीचर रहे हैं। उनका कहना है कि आनंद में जिज्ञासा थी और वो बहुत मेहनती स्टूडेंट थे। प्रसाद कहते हैं, ''आनंद बहुत ही मेहनती स्टूडेंट था। उसने जो कुछ भी हासिल किया है, अपनी मेहनत और लगन के दम पर किया है। वो विषय पर मौलिक सोचता था। एक सवाल को कई तरह से बनाता था। कोई प्रॉब्लम होती थी तो वो घर तक पहुंच जाता था। उसकी ईमानदारी और मेहनत पर कोई शक नहीं है।''
अंजनी तिवारी और बिहार जाने-माने कार्टूनिस्ट पवन आनंद कुमार के शुरुआती दोस्त रहे हैं। ये याद करते हुए बताते हैं कि कैसे वो पूरी रात ग़ज़लें सुना करते थे और साथ में मैथ्स की क्लास के लिए पोस्टर बनाया करते थे। पवन बताते हैं कि वो तीनों 1992-93 में सीढ़ी लगाकर रात में पोस्टर लगाया करते थे।
अंजनी तिवारी कहते हैं, ''आनंद का संघर्ष एक बेहद ही साधरण आदमी का असाधारण संघर्ष है। उसने प्रेम में तबला बजाना सीखा। मां का बनाया पापड़ बेचा। अंतर्जातीय विवाह किया। और आज तो पूरी दुनिया जानती है। हर इंसान का संघर्ष पवित्र होता है पर आनंद का संघर्ष पवित्र के साथ हिम्मतवाला भी था।''
