लाल किताब के अनुसार चंद्र के अशुभ होने की कुछ निशानियां होती हैं फिर भले ही चंद्र कुंडली में कैसी भी स्थिति में बैठा हो, जबकि वैदिक ज्योतिष में चंद्र के शुभ या अशुभ प्रभाव जातक की कुंडली या जन्मपत्री की दशा, अन्तर्दशा या प्रत्यन्तर्दशा दशा के दौरान देखने को मिलते हैं। मान्यता है कि जब चन्द्र अपना अशुभ प्रभाव देने लगता है तो उसके पूर्व संकेत मिलने लगते हैं। आओ जानते हैं दोनों ही तरीकों से चंद्र के अशुभ होने के पूर्व संकेत को और चानते हैं नुकसान से बचने के तरीके को।
सूर्य और चन्द्र ग्रहण। यदि राहु लग्न में बैठा हो तो भी सूर्य कहीं भी हो तो उसे ग्रहण होगा। दूसरा यह कि यदि चन्द्रमा पाप ग्रह राहु या केतु के साथ बैठे हों तो चन्द्र ग्रहण और सूर्य के साथ राहु हो तो सूर्य ग्रहण होता है।
लाल किताब के अनुसार चंद्र के अशुभ होने के संकेत
1. दूध देने वाला जानवर मर जाता है।
2. मानसिक रोगों हो जाता है। मन में बेचैनी बढ़ जाती है। मानसिक तनाव और मन में घबराहट। तरह-तरह की शंका और अनिश्चित भय। व्यक्ति के मन में आत्महत्या करने के विचार बार-बार आते रहते हैं।
3. चंद्र के अशुभ होने की स्थिति में महसूस करने की क्षमता क्षीण हो जाती है।
4. राहु, केतु या शनि के साथ होने से तथा उनकी दृष्टि चंद्र पर पड़ने से चंद्र अशुभ हो जाता है।
5. यदि घोड़ा पाल रखा हो तो उसकी मृत्यु भी तय मानी जाती है, किंतु आमतौर पर अब लोगों के यहां ये जानवर नहीं होते। पुराने समय में होते थे।
6. माता का बार बार बीमार होना भी चंद्र के अशुभ होने की निशानी या पूर्व संकेत है।
7. घर के जलस्रोतों का सूख जाना भी चंद्र के अशुभ होने के संकेत है।
8. यदि दिल या फेफड़े संबंधी रोग हो तो यह भी पूर्व संकेत हैं।
9. यदि आपकी स्मरण शक्ति वक्त के पहले ही कमजोर पड़ रही है तो यह चंद्र खराब होने के पूर्व संकेत है।
10. यदि आपको निरंतर सर्दी-जुकाम बना रहता है तो यह भी चंद्र खराब की निशानी है।
11. इसके अलावा मिर्गी का रोग, पागलपन, बेहोशी, मासिक धर्म गड़बड़ाना और नसों का कमजोर होना।

4. माता का अपमान करने या उससे विवाद करने पर चन्द्र अशुभ प्रभाव देने लगता है।
5. शरीर में जल यदि दूषित हो गया है तो भी चन्द्र का अशुभ प्रभाव पड़ने लगता है।
6. गृह कलह करने और पारिवारिक सदस्य को धोखा देने से भी चन्द्र मंदा फल देता है।
7. राहु, केतु या शनि के साथ होने से तथा उनकी दृष्टि चन्द्र पर पड़ने से चन्द्र खराब फल देने लगता है।
चंद्र को शुभ करने के उपाय
1. शिव की भक्ति। सोमवार और प्रदोष का व्रत रखें।
2. दाढ़ी और चोटी न रखें।
3. सोमवार को केसर की खीर खाएं और कन्याओं को खिलाएं।
4. सोमवार के दिन श्वेत वस्त्रों का दान करना चाहिए।
5. शिवजी की पूजा करें और चावल का दान करें।
6. प्रतिदिन माता के पैर छूना चाहिए।
7. पानी या दूध को साफ पात्र में सिरहाने रखकर सोएं और सुबह कीकर के वृक्ष की जड़ में डाल दें।
8. चावल, सफेद वस्त्र, शंख, वंशपात्र, सफेद चंदन, श्वेत पुष्प, चीनी, बैल, दही और मोती आदि का दान करना चाहिए या नहीं यह किसी लाल किताब के विशेषज्ञ से पूछकर करें।
10. कुंडली की जांच करवाकर ज्योतिष की सलाह पर मोती धारण करें।
12. दो मोती या दो चांदी के टुकड़े लेकर एक टुकड़ा पानी में बहा दें तथा दूसरे को अपने पास रखें।
13. कुंडली के छठे भाव में चन्द्र हो तो दूध या पानी का दान करना मना है।
14. यदि चन्द्र 12वां हो तो धर्मात्मा या साधु को भोजन न कराएं और न ही दूध पिलाएं।
15. सोमवार को सफेद वस्तु जैसे दही, चीनी, चावल, सफेद वस्त्र,1 जोड़ा जनेऊ, दक्षिणा के साथ दान करना और 'ॐ सोम सोमाय नमः' का 108 बार नित्य जाप करना श्रेयस्कर होता है।
नोट : इनमें से कुछ उपाय विपरीत फल देने वाले भी हो सकते हैं। कुंडली की पूरी जांच किए बगैर उपाय नहीं करना चाहिए। किसी लाल किताब के विशेषज्ञ को कुंडली दिखाकर ही ये उपाय करें।
