ડીઝાઇનના ક્ષેત્રમાં સાક્ષરતા પર ભાર મૂકતા વાંકાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે: ‘ઓછી મહેનતએ વધુ કામ કરો અને ડીઝાઇન અંગે વિચારતી વખતે તમામનો વિચાર કરો. લોકોમાં ડીઝાઇનની સમાવેશી વિચારસરણી પેદા કરવા માટે આપણે ડીઝાઇનનું લોકશાહીકરણ કરવાની જરૂર છે. આપણે જ્યારે લોકોનું સશક્તિકરણ કરીએ છીએ ત્યારે તેઓ જાતે જ પોતાની સમસ્યાઓને ઉકેલવાનું શરૂ કરી દે છે. તે વિશ્વમાં રહેલા અસંતુલનની સમસ્યાને ઉકેલશે.’
શ્વેતા વર્મા દ્વારા હાથ ધરવામાં આવેલ ‘ડીઝાઇન ફૉર સર્ચ’ નામની વર્કશૉપએ ગુપ્તતા સંબંધિત મુદ્દાઓ, ડેટાના દુરુપયોગ અને યુવા ડીઝાઇનરોના ડિજિટલ જવાબદારી પરના શિક્ષણ અંગે જાગૃતિ ફેલાવી હતી. આ વર્કશૉપમાં સહભાગીઓએ તેમની પસંદગીની ક્વેરી માટે પરિણામોના પ્રથમ પેજને ફરીથી ડીઝાઇન કર્યું હતું.
અકારોના સ્થાપક તથા ટેક્સટાઇલ અને ફેશન ડીઝાઇનર ગૌરવ જય ગુપ્તાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, ‘વ્યાવહારિક કામગીરીઓ સિવાય ડીઝાઇન્સમાં સામાજિક કામગીરીઓ પણ નિહિત છે. સમાજમાં ડીઝાઇનરની ભૂમિકા સામાજિક અને સાંસ્કૃતિક સંદર્ભની તેમની સમજ પર આધારિત છે.’
ગ્રેવિટી સ્કેચના સહ-સ્થાપક અને મેનેજિંગ ડિરેક્ટર ડેનિએલા પેરેડ્સ ફ્યુએન્ટ્સનું સેશન ખૂબ જ આંતરસૂઝભર્યું રહ્યું હતું. તેણે આપણને આપણા વિચારને થ્રીડી રીતે રજૂ કરવાની નવી વિભાવના રજૂ કરી હતી, જે ડીઝાઇનની એક ખરેખર રસપ્રદ પદ્ધતિ છે.
ડેનિએલાના સેશનના પ્રાપ્તવ્યને અભિવ્યક્ત કરતા પ્રથમેશ હિંદલેકરએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, ‘તેણે આપણી વિચારવાની અને ડીઝાઇનિંગ કરવાની પદ્ધતિને બદલી નાંખે છે. સામાન્ય રીતે આપણે થ્રીડીમાં વિચારીએ છીએ અને તેને ટુડીમાં રજૂ કરીએ છીએ પરંતુ મારા અવલોકન મુજબ આ ટૂલ/સોફ્ટવેર આપણને સીધું જ થ્રીડીમાં રજૂઆત કરવામાં મદદરૂપ થાય છે.’
ઇલસ્ટ્રેશન આર્ટિસ્ટ અને વેબ કૉમિક્સ ‘વન ઑફ ધોઝ ડેઇઝ’ના સર્જક યેહુદા ડેવિર અને માયા ડેવિરના ઇન્સ્ટાગ્રામ પર એક જ અઠવાડિયામાં પાંચ લાખ જેટલા ફૉલોઅર્સ હતા. તેમણે પ્રિન્ટ્સ, પુસ્તકો અને મર્ચન્ડાઇઝ મારફતે તેને મુદ્રીકૃત કર્યા હતા. તેમણે વિદ્યાર્થીઓને સૂચન આપ્યું હતું કે, ‘દરરોજ હજારો લાખો ફોટો અપલૉડ થાય છે. માહિતીના આવા અંતરાયની વચ્ચે આપના કન્ટેન્ટએ અલગ તરી આવવાની જરૂર છે.’
પ્રદર્શન, ઇન્સ્ટોલેશન્સ અને મોજમસ્તીભરી મનોરંજક સંધ્યા ઉપરાંત અમદાવાદ ડીઝાઇન વીકના બીજા દિવસે કાલાતીત વિન્ટેજ ક્લાસિક ગાડીઓને પણ પ્રદર્શિત કરવામાં આવી હતી, જેણે પણ મુલાકાતીઓનું ખાસુ ધ્યાન આકર્ષિત કર્યું હતું, જેનો શ્રેય ગુજરાત વિન્ટેજ એન્ડ ક્લાસિક કાર ક્લબ (જીવીસીસીસી)ને જાય છે.
