પ્રેમમાં કોઈ શર્ત ન હોવી જોઈએ. પણ આજે તમને આવા ઘણા ઉદાહરણ મળી જશે. મતલબ મને પ્રેમ કરો છો તો આવુ ના કરતા જેવી શરતો જાણતા-અજાણતા જોડી દેવામાં આવે છે. પણ ધ્યાનમાં રાખજો કે પ્રેમમાં જ્યારે કોઈ શરત જોડાઈ જાય છે તો તે પ્રેમ નથી રહેતો ફક્ત એક શરત રહી જાય છે.
ચાલો, શરૂ કરીએ પતિ-પત્નીના સંબંધોથી. એક વાત તો ચોક્ક્સ છે કે પતિ-પત્નીને એકબીજાના વ્યવ્હારથી ઘણી ફરિયાદો રહે છે અને આ ફરિયાદમાં એકબીજાનો ખ્યાલ રાખતા તેઓ તેનો હલ પણ કરે છે. છતાં ક્યારેક મતભેદ ઉભો થઈ જાય છે, અને આ મતભેદ થાય છે પ્રેમમાં શરતોને લાદવાથી. જોવા જઈએ તો પતિ-પત્નીનો સંબંધ બે પૈડા પર ટકેલો છે, જો આનુ એક પૈંડુ પણ ડગમગી ગયુ તો પતિ-પત્નીની નાવડી સંસારના સમુદ્રમાં ગોતા ખાવા માંડે છે. કેટલીક પત્નીઓ વારંવાર પોતાના પતિ પાસે કોઈ ને કોઈ માંગણી કરતી રહે છે. મનમોટાવની શરૂઆત પણ અહીંથી જ થાય છે.
પુરૂષ તેની આ માંગણીઓ ને પૂરી પણ કરે છે, છતાં પતિને આ વાત માટે હંમેશા મહેણાં મારવામાં આવે છે કે તમે મને અત્યાર સુધી આપ્યુ શુ છે ? એક વાત કહેવી જરૂરી છે કે પતિ-પત્નીના સંબંધોની બુનિયાદ લેવડ-દેવડ સુધી જ સીમિત નથી અને શુ સંબંધોની લેવડ દેવડ જ બાંધી રાખે છે ? પતિ-પત્નીના સંબંધોને થોડીક ભેટ આપીને નથી તોડી શકાતી. પતિ જો પત્નીને બહાર ફરવા ન લઈ જાય, કોઈ સારા હોટલમાં જમવા નહી લઈ જાય, મોંધી ભેટ નહી આપે વગેરે, તો કહેવામાં આવે છે કે તેઓ તમને પ્રેમ નથી કરતા. આવી જ રીતે કેટલાક પતિદેવો પણ પહેરવા-ઓઢવા બાબતે કેટલીક શર્તો મૂકી દે છે. અહીં એક મુખ્ય પ્રશ્ન છે કે શુ આવુ બધુ કરવાથી જ પ્રેમ વધે છે ? શુ આ પ્રકારની શરતો જરૂરી છે ?

શ્રીમતી યોગિની એક સીધી સાદી ઘરેલુ મહિલા હતી. લોકોના દેખાદેખી અને સાંભળીને તેમના લગ્ન જીવનના દિવસો વિતવાની સાથે સાથે તેમણે પણ ભૌતિકવાદનુ ભૂત ચઢી ગયુ. 7 ડિસેમ્બરે જ્યારે તેમના લગ્નની 6ઠી વર્ષગાંઠ આવવાની હતી ત્યારે તેમણે પોતાના પતિ પાસેથી એટલી મોંધી ભેટ માંગી કે તેઓ કદી પણ નહોતા આપી શકતા. અને તે પણ પોતાની માંગને લઈને જીદે ચઢી ગઈ, પરિણામ એ આવ્યુ કે ત્યાં ખુશીના વાતાવરણની જગ્યાએ, ઝગડો અને ક્લેશ છવાઈ ગયો.
જ્યાં સુધી પ્રેમમાં શરતોનો સવાલ છે, આ ફક્ત પતિ-પત્ની સુધી જ સીમિત નથી. હવે આની હદ વધવા માંડી છે. આ હદમાં પતિ-પત્ની, પિતા-પુત્ર, ભાઈ-બહેન, મિત્ર-સખા, પણ જોડાવવા લાગ્યા છે. જેમણે શરત સિવાય કશી વસ્તુ સાથે લાગતુ વળગતુ નથી. આપણે બીજી ભાષામાં કહીતો આજના આ યુગમાં લેવડ-દેવડ અને શરતો વગર પ્રેમ અધૂરો છે. જો તમે કશુ આપ્યુ છે તો પ્રેમ જીવંત છે નહી તો પૂરો. આજની માનસિકતા ઓત આવી જ થઈ ગઈ છે. રક્ષા બંધન પણ ભાઈ બહેનના પ્રેમન તહેવાર છે છતાં કેટલાય લોકો એ વિચારીને ખુશ થાય છે કે ચાલો કાંઈક ભેટ મળશે.
ખરુ જોવા જઈએ તો પ્રેમ અને સંબંધોમાં કોઈ પણ મોલભાવ ન હોવા જોઈએ, પણ થાય છે એ જ. ભેટ પહેલા જ નક્કી થઈ જાય છે, આ કડવી હકીકતને સ્વીકારવી જ પડશે.
