વિલિયમ શેક્સપિયર અગ્રેજીના સુપ્રસિદ્ધ કવિ, નાટ્યકાર અને અભિનેતા હતા. જેમના નાટક પર લગબગ દરેક દેશના નાટ્યકારોએ વિભિન્ન ભષોમાં ભજવ્યાં છે. હવે મુંબઈમાં જાન્યુઆરી2018માં વોટ્સ ઇન અ નેમ થિયેટર કંપનીના હેઠળ નિર્માત્રી કનુપ્રિયા શેક્સપિયરના નાટક પર આધારિત અંગ્રેજી નાટક ધ ટેમિંગ ઓફ ધ શ્રેવ નાટકથી શુભારંભ કરશે. જેના દિગ્દર્સકછે દેશિક વાંસદિયા, જેઓ નાટકમાં શ્રૂની મુખ્ય ભૂમિકા ભજવી રહ્યા છે. એમાં જના સમાજમાં ચાલી રહેલા પુરૂષ અને મહિલાઓના સમાન અધિકારની વાતો દર્શાવાઈ છે. નાટકની કાસવાત એ છે કે એમાં ચોકરાઓ ચોકરીની ભૂમિકા ભજવશે અને છોકરીઓ છોકરાની.
અંગ્રેજી નાટક ધ ટેમિંગ ઓફ ધ શ્રેવના એક્ટર ને દિગ્દર્શક દેશિક વાંસદિયા (નવસારી) ગુજરાતના રહેવાસી છે. અમેરિકાના સ્ટેલા એડલર એક્ટિંગ સ્ટુડિયોમાં ત્રણ વરસએક્ટિંગ શીખ્યા બાદ ત્યાં ઘણા નાટકોમાં કામ કર્યું. લોસ એન્જલિસમાં રોમિયો ઔર જુલિયટના પ્રોડક્શનમાં રોમિયોની ભૂમિકા ભજવી જે ઘણું ફેમસ થયું. ત્યાર બાદ શેક્સપિયરનાનાટકોના ચાહક બની ગયા અને વિશ્વભરમાં અલગ અલગ નાટકોમાં મુખ્ય ભૂમિકાઓ ભજવી. મુંબઈ વીને અનેક ફિલ્મો, સિરિયલ, નાટક, મ્યુઝિક આલ્બમ, એડ ફિલ્મ વગેરેમાં કામ કર્યું.તેઓ અંગ્રેજીમાં સહજતાથી ડાયલોગ બોલી શકે છે. આ અગાઉ શેક્સપિયરની 400મી પુણ્યતિથિના અવસરે ઓલ ઈન્ડિયા રેડિયો માટે અંગ્રેજી નાટક મેસર ફોર મેસરનું દિગ્દર્શન કર્યુંહતું. જેમાં એક ગુરૂ-સાધુ એક યુવતીને જોઈ મોહિત થી જાય છે. જે હજુ રવિવારે પ્રસારિત કરવામાં આવે છે. ત્યાર બાદ દેશિક વાંસદિયે ધ બોય હુ સ્ટોપ્ડ સ્માઇલિંગ, જેમાં એક ઠવરસનો છોકરો ઘણો ઇન્ટેલિજન્ટ હોવાને કારણે સામાન્ય બાળકોની જેમ લોકો સાથે સારો વ્યવહાર કરી શકતો નથી. એમાં દેશિકે એક્ટિંગ અને દિગ્દર્શન પણ કર્યું હતું. જેના શો પૃથ્વીથિયેટર, એનસીપીએ ઉપરાંત દેશભરમાં ભજવાયા હતા.
અંગ્રેજી નાટક ધ ટેમિંગ ઓફ ધ શ્રેવના અભિનેતા-દિગ્દર્શક દેશિક વાંસદિયા તેમના નવા નાટક અંગે જણાવે છે કે, મે મહિલા અને પુરૂ,ની સમાનતાની વાત કરે છે. પરતુજ્યારે કોઈ છોકરી મોડર્ન ડ્રેસ પહેરે કે પુરૂષની સમોવડી રહેવાનો પ્રયાસ કરે તો લોકો ના વિશે લફેલ વાતો કરે છે અને કહે કે એ બગડી ગી છે. મ તો બંને વચ્ચે મેન પવર મોટો હોયછે. પછી ભલે મહિલા પાસે પવર હય કે પુરૂષા પસે. એ એનો ઉપયોગ કરે છે. સાચું પૂચો તો કોઈ નાનુ-મોટું હોતું નથી. નાટકમાં અમે શેક્સપિયરવાળી અંગ્રેજીનો જ ઉપયોગ કર્યો છે.એમાં જે બાવ, રસ, કવિતા છે એ આજની અંગ્રેજીમાં નથી.
આ નાટકના પ્રયોગો મુંબઈ, અમદાવાદ, દિલ્હી, બેંગલુરૂ, રાજસ્થાન વગેરે સ્થળોએ થશે.
